“Nicola was quick to respond to my last minute request, offered a meet and greet before at short notice and tracked the walk with my dog. Min Pin seemed very content after his walk and was happy for all the attention. Thank you and I will definitely be booking again.”

“Gina was so lovely and communicative the whole booking. She was incredibly understanding when I had to change the time we initially met due to personal issues, and was really friendly and kind. We received photos and messages at every drop in which we really appreciated. Would definitely recommend Gina to others!”

About: Hello! I’m Hannah and I’ve been a huge dog lover since a very early age. I regularly look after family, friends and colleagues dogs and now do this alongside my full-time job. I have also fostered dogs long-term for Raystede animal charity. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. For dog boarding, I appreciate that every dog has their own individual needs and routine and I try to recreate this in my home. I know pets are family, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I work from home 3 days a week and have alternate Friday’s off, so I have lots of time to cuddle your pups! I don’t work weekends so am extra flexible on Saturdays and Sundays. There are two external doors (excluding front door) to get outside, so your pets will be very safe in the flat. There is a communal garden unfenced but away from the road, a woods about 5 minutes away, plus a large park at the top of my road.
“Joseph was brilliant with our pup. He kept us updated with photos and helpful notes. Woody was happy and calm after the drop-in, which was really reassuring to see. Lovely to know he was in such good hands, thank you!”

About: Your home from home dog boarding service The Tail Wags Inn offers a beautiful and comfortable environment for your pet in a loving family environment. We have an acre and half of garden, safely fenced area and fields to walk in directly behind us. Your dog will get the very best care at At The Tail Wags Inn, where they will be treated as one of the family during their stay. We do long daily walks, play in the garden and have lots of relax time too. We have a fenced garden to the back of the house which can offer security for your pet, we also have a large garden for them to run in while being watched as well as fields behind us for easy walks - we are on a quiet street, it is a peaceful environment.
About: I grew up with dogs all my life, as did my partner Dan. We dream of having our own dogs when we get our first house together. Our current flat is not doggy appropriate. I grew up in a house with two dogs, cats, cockatiels, rabbits and everything in between. Dan also has had dogs (boxers in particular) all his life too. We're also a dab hand at watering plants, taking in deliveries and caring for your house while you're away! I'm a teacher, so if you're booking when I'm on holiday there are no problems. Daniel works locally in Haywards Heath, so it is sometimes possible for him to come home at lunches for potty breaks. We are best with weekends, half terms and breaks! We are adaptable to your lives and how the dogs live. We want them to be comfortable so would learn your routines, favourite walk route and tips for entertainment and try and mimic as best as possible. We just sadly cannot look after pets in our own flat at the moment!
“As we’ve recently moved to the area, we’ve found ourselves short of support when it’s needed for our 2 dogs. We’ve put off finding a ‘stranger’ to help but from the day Hollie came and met us and them, she’s been a blessing. It’s clear how much she loves dogs and the way she treats ours like her own is really reassuring. We get the best updates and pictures when she visits and we know they’re in the best hands. I would definitely recommend her ☺️”

About: I know how hard it is to find reliable care that fits around real life, and how important routine consistency is for your dog. I realised that I can help and am excited to offer solo, on-lead neighbourhood walks and welfare drop-in visits to your home. With a one-on-one, your dog gets my full attention and sets the pace. Whether that's a slow sniffy walk or a heart-raising stomp. I'm a very active, all-weather walker. So you can be assured that I will show up in all conditions and ensure your dog gets a good, consistent walk experience. I currently focus on one-to-one walks. I take caring for your dog seriously and will treat your dog as my own, and will send you updates on the way. Once we've built trust, if you are comfortable, I may optionally suggest an occasional walk with my own friendly Labrador. I currently work from home on Tuesdays and Fridays so can regularly offer walks before 9am, lunchtimes, and after 4pm on those days. I also have some flexibility so please make an enquiry for other times as it might work out. I keep my availability realistic so I can be dependable for the bookings I accept. On weekends, I'm much more flexible so if you're looking for regular or last-minute help, let me know and I will do my best to help you out. I offer welfare drop-in visits to your home to give your pup a much needed break during the day. I'll let them use the bathroom, refresh their water, feed a meal if required but most importantly, give them lots of attention and play. So you can be sure your pet is happy at home while you are out.
“Alex was fab, dropping in on our two fur baby cats whilst we were away making sure they got attention, food & water. It was so reassuring to receive the photos and rover card updates.”

“Once again Catherine did a great job sitting with my JR terrier who always seems content, calm and well fed when I return. Makes my trips out better knowing my dog is in safe and capable hands.”

About: I have a genuine passion for looking after animals. As well as sights like Borrow My Doggy, I am also a member of Trusted Housesitters and have looked after a range of young, old, small and large dogs and have built up a great relationship with all owners I work with. I would love to be considered to look after your pet. I’m currently working partly remote, meaning I have more spare time to attend to the pets I look after, including more regular walks and cuddles of course! Despite living in a flat, it is extremely spacious with access to a courtyard and parks close by. I would be happy to show you around ahead of a service.
About: Hi! I am Tristan an experienced and caring pet sitter based in Burgess Hill. I am the sole carer for all the animals without any additional assistance so they get my focus. I treat every pet like family. I have experience with dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and I am comfortable administering medications if needed. With a secure home, a flexible schedule, and a genuine love for animals, I aim to give your pets the same care and attention they’d get with you. Let’s set up a meet & greet—I’d love to get to know your furry friend! I work from home full time. I have my own Cockerpoo (neutered female) who is great with other dogs. I love to take my dog on walks in the area and take regular daily walks. Garden is fully secured and fenced and I am based at home so your dog will always be well cared for and not left on own for extended periods.
“Sophie helped out last minute with my 20 month old dog. She arranged an initial meet in her own time to come to my house and meet Percy. Sophie sent me detailed feedback from the drop in. I felt reassured and happy my dog was well looked after. Would not hesitate to ask Sophie to help in the future. Thank you!”

About: Why Choose Me? I’m a reliable, caring, and flexible dog walker with a genuine love for animals. As a shift worker, I can often offer availability outside the usual 9–5 hours, making me a great option for owners who need early morning, evening, weekend, or last-minute support. I have experience walking dogs with a variety of personalities, sizes, and energy levels, and I always take the time to understand each dog’s individual needs. Whether your dog loves an energetic adventure or prefers a slower-paced stroll, I will ensure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m particularly patient with puppies and younger dogs who may still be learning their manners, and I understand the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, and building trust. For your convenience, I will travel to you, and I offer a free meet-and-greet before any booking. This gives you and your dog the opportunity to get to know me, ask any questions, and ensure we’re a great fit before walks begin. Your dog’s safety, wellbeing, and happiness will always be my priority. I treat every dog as if they were my own and aim to give owners complete peace of mind while they’re away. ✔ Free meet-and-greet ✔ I travel to your location ✔ Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends ✔ Patient and caring approach ✔ Walks tailored to your dog’s needs ✔ Regular updates and photos available Pet care fits naturally into my routine as a shift worker, giving me flexibility to provide walks and care at different times throughout the week. I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors, so dog walking is something I genuinely look forward to. I make time to ensure each pet gets the attention, exercise, and care they need, whether that’s regular walks, companionship, or adapting to individual routines. Caring for pets is something I enjoy making part of my weekly life, not just something I fit in around other commitments. I care for pets by making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well looked after in either my home or a pet owner’s home. I follow each pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific care instructions. In a pet owner’s home, I respect their space while ensuring their pet receives attention, companionship, exercise, and plenty of care. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality and needs, whether that means active play for younger pets or a calmer, gentler approach for senior pets. My priority is always keeping pets happy, secure, and cared for as if they were my own.

About: Hi, I'm Sophie. I started Walks by Sophie because I believe dogs deserve better than rushed walks in large packs. Walks are about so much more than exercise. Walks are how dogs socialise and explore the world, where they can feel included and cared for. I've always adored dogs, from our first family dog to my current pup, Cher. After a decade building customer success teams for other peoples businesses, I decided it was time to build something of my own - here in Burgess Hill, the community I live in. I didn't rush it, I spent time working for an established local dog walking business first, learning the job properly before putting my name on it. Walks by Sophie is the result of that - a small, considered business built to last. Each dog I care for gets the same love, patience and attention I give my own dog. I also offer a boutique dog sitting service for when you’re away. Every dog I sit for enjoys either two 30 minute walks or one hour long walk each day, whichever suits them best. The same unhurried, attentive care, in the comfort of their own home. The dogs will never be left for more than 4 hours and will receive plenty of enrichment and unlimited fuss. Fully insured, DBS checked and pet first aid trained. Because the basics aren't optional. Hello, I'm Sophie. I own Walks by Sophie, my professional dog walking and sitting business based in Burgess Hill. Walks by Sophie specialises in weekly small group walks, with a maximum of three dogs at a time. No large packs, no overstimulation, just calm, considered walks where every dog gets proper attention. I believe routine and consistency are two of the most important things you can give a dog. For me it’s about helping a dog feel settled, secure and mentally enriched. That same thinking shapes how I sit. Sitting fits naturally into my working week and your dog will never be left alone for more than 4 hours. This is my career, not a casual hobby. Sitting days are planned around the dog's needs, never squeezed in for convenience. Your dog stays in their own home, in their own routine, with their bed and bowl. I’m experienced, genuinely present throughout the day and after a 10 year career as Head of Customer Success, your experience of me and my service matters a lot. I'm fully insured, DBS checked and pet first aid trained. You'll also get a meaningful daily update so you can fully relax.
About: I share my home with three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels of varying ages, which has given me a deep understanding of their gentle temperament, sensitivity, and social nature. With over 15 years’ experience caring for small dogs, I’m particularly confident with calm, affectionate breeds who thrive in a relaxed, home-from-home environment. My home offers plenty of indoor space, a large fully dog-proofed garden, and a balance of sociable areas and quiet retreat spaces. I care for female dogs only and am best suited to well-socialised, settled dogs who enjoy gentle companionship rather than very high-energy or busy environments. I’m also experienced in administering medication and supporting older dogs who may need a little extra care and patience. I’m at home full-time, so dogs are supervised and included in family life throughout the day. We enjoy gentle garden play, enrichment activities, and regular visits to a private, fully enclosed field for safe off-lead time. I place a strong emphasis on a calm, balanced environment. Dogs are free to move between indoor and outdoor spaces, and I have several separate rooms available for those who prefer quiet time or need a break from socialising. Rest and relaxation are just as important as play. I’m very happy to follow each dog’s usual routine, including feeding, sleep preferences, and any specific needs. Crates are very welcome if your dog is used to one, as familiar items can help them settle more easily. I live in a quiet neighbourhood with a large, secure garden for relaxed play and exploration. Dogs are always supervised and encouraged to settle into a calm, home-from-home routine with free access to outside at all times. All dogs are fed separately to avoid any stress or competition, and I take care to ensure each doggie guest feels comfortable and secure in their own space.
“Zoe replied to messages promptly, was clear in her communications and spent time getting to know Alfie and Poppy. I really appreciate the pictures of the doggos visit and updating status to let me know they have done their ablutions. The dogs were both very calm when I came home. Thank you 🙏”

Emily made me feel very at ease and comfortable leaving my cat for a couple of nights. She sent photos for every visit and you could see how happy Giles was being looked after by her! Would absolutely recommend Emily and will definitely use her cat sitting services again if we need to!

Sophie was fantastic at looking after Mollie. Mollie can be quite shy but was super happy having cuddles and pets with Sophie. She did a great job keeping me updated throughout and I would 100% recommend Sophie for all your cat sitting needs! Thank you Sophie! ❤️

Billie was amazing and I’m so pleased I picked them to look after my cat while I was on holiday. My cat is quite anxious so I was worried about leaving him, but Billie was so attentive and kind, sending me videos and photos where you could see my cat getting more comfortable and relaxed with Billie as time went on - definitely recommend!

Robyn came to visit my 2 cats while I was away. Her updates were reassuring to see how my cats were doing. She even made friends with my shy cat who is scared of everyone. I'd highly recommend and will definitely use her services anytime I go away. Thank you!
Nicola was quick to respond to my last minute request, offered a meet and greet before at short notice and tracked the walk with my dog. Min Pin seemed very content after his walk and was happy for all the attention. Thank you and I will definitely be booking again.

We have booked Olivia many times over the last year, and I couldn’t recommended her highly enough. Last year she took great care for our 12 year old cocker spaniel Mustard, he always loved her visits! More recently Olivia stepped in last minute to puppy sit for our new pup 🐾 we knew he would be in the safest of hands. Thank you so much ☺️

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm.
