Another great stay from Catherine. She's very conscientious and caring with Teddy. He can be reactive to people coming into the house and she was great with him. We had a bit of a medical issue on the last day of her stay(not her fault) and she handled it very well. We will be booking with her again and would recommend her.

Graham was a great communicator and regularly kept me updated on how things were going while we were away with pictures and messages. I trusted him from the outset and he felt like a safe pair of hands. He also has a good sense of humour and seemed to understand the complexities of our pets which all have their own quirks!

Wonderful! Sophie popped round to meet Phoebe before hand and she doted on her (and Phoebe loved her too) she even got to meet an extra friend, Sophie’s daughter, and they had a great time playing. Sophie’s communication was clear and kind throughout and she took great care of Phoebe during a heatwave, sending lots of photos of Phoebe cooling down and being a happy pup. Would 100% recommend!

Gina took care of my indoor cat while I had a long weekend away. I’m always anxious about leaving him, particularly as he is currently on medication, but I had no need to worry as he was in excellent hands. Gina kept me updated with photos and I was reassured that he was well and happy. Gina is a really lovely person and Panda and I are lucky to have met her

About: Hi, I’m Sarah! Our family has shared our home with animals for over 15 years — from dogs and cats to chickens, rabbits, and more. We currently have a sweet-natured cocker spaniel named Ivy and a curious little hamster named Bear. When we first moved to the UK two years ago, we spent several months house-sitting and had the joy of caring for dogs, cats, and even a bird — it was such a rewarding experience that we’ve never forgotten. Since then, I’ve used Rover myself to find trusted sitters for our own pets when we travel, and now I’m excited to offer the same peace of mind to others. Pet care fits naturally into our everyday life. I run my own small business creating handmade candles and aura sprays, which gives me a lot of flexibility in my schedule and allows me to be home throughout the day. My husband also works from home three days a week, so there’s usually someone around to give pets attention, cuddles, and care. We already walk our own dog, Ivy, daily — and we’re incredibly lucky to back onto a forest and open fields, making walks feel more like mini-adventures. It’s a peaceful, pet-friendly environment, and we love spending time outdoors with the animals. Caring for pets doesn’t feel like a chore to us — it’s something we genuinely enjoy and value as part of our routine. Whether it’s giving extra belly rubs, playtime in the garden, or peaceful naps on the sofa, we make sure every pet feels right at home. We live in a spacious home with a large, fully fenced garden that backs onto beautiful forest and open fields. It’s the perfect place for dogs to explore, play, and enjoy their daily walks with Ivy. Your pet will be treated like one of the family while in our care, with plenty of love, attention, and cuddles.

She was amazing. I ended up losing my mum and didn’t really want to go away but she made me relax and the way she sent endless pictures and videos it was amazing. Such a kind person and she even took my relative dog out to the pub which is brave but shows you she’s experienced and has confidence looking after my dogs. She’s amazing and I would be using her again.

About: I’ve spent most of my life around animals and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pets while you’re away. Growing up, I was surrounded by dogs, including Retrievers and an Old English Sheepdog, and I’ve also cared for cats and rabbits. My rabbits have been part of my family for the past 11 years, so I understand the individual care and attention that small animals need. I’ve also looked after a friend’s dog on several occasions while they were on holiday, giving them complete peace of mind that their pet was happy and well cared for. Alongside my love of animals, I’ve worked in caring roles supporting both adults and children with learning disabilities. This has helped me develop patience, reliability, compassion, and attention to detail—qualities I bring to every pet I care for. For added peace of mind, I hold a ProTrainings Pet First Aid Level 2 (VTQ) certificate, I’m DBS checked, and I’m fully insured. I believe that great pet care is about combining genuine compassion with professionalism, so you can feel confident that your pets and your home are in safe hands. I specialise in home visits, providing care in the environment where your pets feel safest and most comfortable. Whether it’s feeding, refreshing water, cleaning litter trays, administering medication where appropriate, or simply spending quality time keeping your pet company, I’ll treat them with the same kindness and respect that I would my own animals. I’m also happy to care for a variety of other pets, not just cats and dogs. Whether you have rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, or other small animals, I’ll take the time to understand their individual routines and provide the same attentive, compassionate care they receive from you. I know how reassuring it is to receive updates while you’re away, so I’ll always keep you informed with messages and photos, allowing you to relax knowing your pets are happy and well cared for. I look forward to meeting you and your very important pets! I am generally available 7 days a week. I can be very flexible and do accept short notice bookings so just let me know how I can help. As I provide pet home visits, I care for pets in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, helping to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible.

Simone is a fantastic dog sitter. I went away for the week and Simone came to stay at our place to look after two dogs (aged 7). She was so great at communicating throughout, even suggesting a pre-meet beforehand. I was able to fully relax knowing they were being so well looked after, with regular pictures and videos. Simone also left the house spotless (infact it felt tidier than we left). Thank you Simone.

About: A calm, loving environment where your dog or cat feels safe and settled. Love dog walks, spending quality time & care. Looking forward to meeting your pet! Looking after dogs isn’t just something I want to do - it’s what I genuinely care about. Since having Rex for the past 3 years (we share him part-time), I’ve seen first-hand how much love, joy and energy a dog brings into your life. He’s not “just a pet” - he’s part of our family. Rex comes everywhere with us - walks, garden centres, watching my 7-year-old son play football, even out for food when we can. He’s included in our life, not left behind. And that’s exactly how I would treat your dog. 🐾 Family included 🐾 Walked, loved and stimulated 🐾 Part of the day - not just fitted into it I understand how important that bond is because I have it myself. When your dog is with me, they won’t just be supervised - they’ll be cared for. X 🐾 A Home From Home For Your Dog Dogs aren’t just pets in our house - they’re family. I have a fully fenced, secure garden for safe playtime, plus an open field nearby for long walks, fresh air and proper runs to burn off energy. At home, your fur baby won’t be alone - my friendly nearly 3-year-old dog will be there to keep them company and make it even more fun. He’s social, loving and used to being around other dogs. Inside you’ll find: 🐶 Comfy dog beds around the house 🧸 Lots of toys for play and stimulation 🏡 A calm, loving family environment If your dog is crate trained, I’m more than happy to use your crate (supplied by you) to keep their routine consistent. If not, they’re welcome to settle wherever they feel most comfortable. When your dog stays with us, they’re included - walks, cuddles, family time and lots of love. I also have business insurance (protectivity) & have DBS - happy to send over documents upon request.

About: I have grown up with dogs all my life as has my partner. I've mainly been around boxers (I can't remember a time that my parents haven't had a boxer). Gray has had a whole range of pets but always had a dog at home. Our current flat isn't dog friendly but we would love to have a pet when we move into a property more appropriate. We are also great at watering plants, taking in deliveries and caring for your house while you're away! We can work around your routines and mix walk, play and rest as required. We are also very understanding to each dogs individual needs. I currently work full time locally in Haywards Heath so I can pop round in the day time on my lunch break to let the dogs out whilst Gray is a teacher and can be more available during school holidays and weekends. We adapt ourselves to fit in with your routines and what works best for the dog. Our main priority is that while you are away your dog feels as comfortable as possible whilst in our care.

About: I have taken care for my friends dogs and have walked them often, I always make sure I speak with the owner to get all the neccesary information before taking them out (e.g how responsive are they to recall). I also looked after my old partners dog frequently and pet sat for her and took her for walks for days-weeks at a time. I have 2 jobs which have varied hours and shift patterns change regularly. I will always ensure I update my availability to suit this. As of present, I tutor in term time and work as a carer in half terms, however the caring job isnt daily which increases my availability during half terms In my home I have a fenced garden to keep my cat safe and I regularly check on her. I give her frequent affection while I'm home and always make sure her basic needs are met (clean litter tray, replenished food and water bowls)

First time getting a sitter for Phoebe and Jordan couldn’t have been more reassuring throughout the entire process. She clearly loves dogs and knows what she’s doing, and she very kindly updated us with lots of cute pictures of Phoebe throughout her stay. It was so nice to be away and yet completely confident that Phoebe was happy and having all of her needs met. Phoebs clearly had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to both use Jordan’s services again and recommend her for anyone who’s looking for a safe pair of hands for their pets. Thank you Jordan!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Mid Sussex on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 12,648 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mid Sussex. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Mid Sussex walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mid Sussex choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
