“Marcus has been brilliant, looking after Maggie (dog) and Naboo (cat). Calm, responsible and communicative, I have no problem recommending him as a pet-sitter! Thanks, Marcus - we'll definitely be asking you to stay again!”

“Georgie did a day sit for us whilst we were at a wedding. She seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. She sent a good amount of updates and our girls seemed very happy when we returned. I would definitely book her again (in fact I already have!).”

“I’m hesitant to gush too much about Millie because I secretly want her to be my full-time fluff nanny. But she deserves it. She looked after my home, two beloved Birmans and VERY wiggly 4 month old Swiss Shepherd as if they were her own. It was my first extended trip since I brought the puppy home so I was very nervous. I returned to a very happy family, with great communication and pics throughout the week. Not looking forward to leaving them again but if I must I will be having Millie back if I can.”

“Ellie looked after our two dogs really well whilst we were away for the weekend. She sent us lots of updates and was very communicative. One of our dogs is nervous and refused to go on a walk but Ellie was very nice to her and didn't force her. When we got back our house was super clean and Ellie had even made us cupcakes!”

“Holly is an absolute star. She took care of my puppy, Coco, and my cat, Belle, for a week while I was away and I’m pretty sure they had more fun with her than they do with me! She knows a lot about dogs/ animals and I felt very safe leaving them with her. She also left the house immaculate, which was an added bonus.”

About: Ive been dog sitting for 10+ years and I have made lots of doggy friendships during that time through walking and boarding! I've been surrounded by dogs for as long as I can remember and I've also supported my grandma in rescuing and rebuilding confidence in several ex race greyhounds. I live in a house with my partner, daughter and our two lovely dogs. My partner also adores dogs and has had lots of experence with rescuing dogs over the years. We have a 4 year old sproodle and 1 year old golden retriever. They are both incredibly friendly and welcoming. They have both been surrounded by dogs and love the extra company ❤ When your pup visits they will have access to: -snuffle activities -lick mats - other enrichment activites such as treat dispensers - a box full of toys! - a huge amount of tennis balls -accommodating walks to suit your pup (short, long, on lead, off lead etc) - a trip to a secure private feild that I can hire - lots and lots of love from humans and our own pups ❤ I am a primary school teacher so therefore have weekends free and the bonus of school holidays! I'd love nothing more than to spend this free time in the company of dogs 😍

“Andrea was a fantastic sitter! She sent regular lovely updates and photographs throughout the sit which meant that we could fully relax on our holiday. I often find this hard to do away from Pina but she made me feel very comfortable and confident in her care. Andrea made sure that she was very well prepared as regards to any habits and likes for Pina. I was impressed to see that she managed to get her out on lots of walks which can be tricky with Pina. Pina seemed very happy and healthy when we returned. I would wholeheartedly recommend Andrea to any other pet owner and book again.”

About: I have had pets for my whole life. I had two border collie puppies and two kittens when I was a kid so I have had experience caring for animals at all stages of their life. I have experience giving both cats and dogs medications and following special diets. I love going on walks with dogs and spending time outdoors. I currently have a labradoodle puppy who is 10 weeks old and so I am regaining the experience of training a puppy again. I have always been an animal lover and old dogs have a special place in my heart. I am doing a Masters degree at the moment and so I will have lots of time to spend with your pets on my days off. I am unable to look after pets in my own home as I don't want to stress out my cats but I will follow your guidance and rules about caring for your pet in your own home. I am neat and tidy and I will make sure that the house remains clean and tidy and safe for your pet. Your pet will be kept on a leash for the full duration of walks. I will also only give them treats that are approved by you first and that their dietary requirements are strictly followed.

“Caitlin has house sat for us on a number of occasions looking after our cats Brandon & Elmo. My boys have their issues but Caitlin is brilliant with them, kind and patient and understands their quirks. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her, she is definitely a 5 star sitter, a lovely young lady.”

“Kat was wonderful with my new rescue when I had to leave her for a few hours after she had just moved in. I was very confident in her care of Missy and her communication was excellent. I will most definitely be asking Kat to dogsit again. Thank you!”

“Very happy with the care (and communication) Sabrina provided, she left the house immaculate and even gave Ozzy a bath (not easy as he can be a squirmy monkey in the tub!). We will definitely have her back for future sits.”

We were very happy with Anna looking after our dog Bobby. He can be quite nervous/anxious but Anna seemed to know how to handle him very well. He seemed happy with her and enjoyed his walks. I would definitely recommend Anna, she was very punctual, she sent regular photos/updates and she was very caring with Bobby.
Ariah had such a lovely weekend with Marianne while my husband and I attended a wedding that she didn't want her to leave afterwards! Our flat was beautifully clean and tidy when we returned too. We have a longer sit booked in a month too and I am 100% confident leaving Ariah and our home in Marianne's capable hands!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Lewes walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lewes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
