Georgie did a day sit for us whilst we were at a wedding. She seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. She sent a good amount of updates and our girls seemed very happy when we returned. I would definitely book her again (in fact I already have!).

We have no hesitation in giving Emily 5 stars. She was extremely attentive and well prepared for our initial online chat; she asked well thought out questions and had obviously take time to prepare for our meeting. She followed this up by coming to meet us and our pack in person; they all took to her immediately. During her stay at our home she sent regular updates. We could see from the photos that she sent that the dogs and cats were happy and relaxed. We came home to a happy pack and a home that had been well cared for. We’ll certainly used Emily again for future sits.

Alabama was absolutely wonderful looking after my dogs, Betty and Nancy. They were both so happy and clearly had a lovely time with her. She played with them, kept me updated with photos, and left the house beautifully clean and tidy. What meant the most to me was seeing how much my rescue dog, Nancy, liked Alabama. Nancy is very shy and quite timid, so seeing her feel comfortable and happy with someone new was really lovely and reassuring. I felt completely at ease knowing Betty and Nancy were in such caring hands. I would 100% recommend Alabama and would be very happy to have her look after them again. Thank you so much, Alabama! 🐾❤️ Sarah

Marcus is a lovely, polite and caring young man. Excellent and prompt communication with us. He looked after our 7 year old bichon in our home and was great with our slightly difficult / diva(ish) Percy with separation anxiety. Percy was very comfortable around him and Marcus was very patient with him. No hesitation in recommending Marcus.

About: Ive been dog sitting for 10+ years and I have made lots of doggy friendships during that time through walking and boarding! I've been surrounded by dogs for as long as I can remember and I've also supported my grandma in rescuing and rebuilding confidence in several ex race greyhounds. I live in a house with my partner, daughter and our two lovely dogs. My partner also adores dogs and has had lots of experence with rescuing dogs over the years. We have a 4 year old sproodle and 1 year old golden retriever. They are both incredibly friendly and welcoming. They have both been surrounded by dogs and love the extra company ❤ When your pup visits they will have access to: -snuffle activities -lick mats - other enrichment activites such as treat dispensers - a box full of toys! - a huge amount of tennis balls -accommodating walks to suit your pup (short, long, on lead, off lead etc) - a trip to a secure private feild that I can hire - lots and lots of love from humans and our own pups ❤ I am a primary school teacher so therefore have weekends free and the bonus of school holidays! I'd love nothing more than to spend this free time in the company of dogs 😍

About: I grew up surrounded by dogs at home and have always loved being around animals. I have a large home, so there is plenty of space for pets to feel comfortable and relaxed. I’m also the person my friends and family trust to look after their dogs and cats whenever they need someone. I genuinely love animals and enjoy giving them lots of attention, cuddles, playtime and care. I’m responsible, caring and always make sure pets feel happy, safe and at home. I’m not currently working full-time, so I have plenty of free time to care for pets. I occasionally work a few afternoons, but most of my time is flexible and I can give pets lots of attention and care. I’m happy to care for pets in my home or in their owner’s home. In my home, they’ll have plenty of space and a safe, comfortable environment. At the owner’s home, I’ll follow their usual routine and instructions so their pet feels comfortable and settled.

About: Hi there !! I have just come back from traveling after two years and looking to fill my spare time with looking after your fur babies !! I love animals and have had a dog since I was 13. I also took personal care of my previous partners fur baby for 5 years so I have plenty experience of caring for a doggy. My own family dog has since passed while I was a way and we would deeply love to have company in our home again. Your dog will be given all the cuddles and belly rubs while in my care! I am currently not working as I’ve just came back from traveling, so my availability is wide open. This may change in the future and I might have to reduce care to only weekends I am happy to learn your routine and stick to it while away. I love getting out and going for a walk so you won’t have to worry about your doggy getting exercise. My own dog was very crazy so I am happy to throw a ball… continuously haha or find things stimulating for them to do.

About: My friends and family have had dogs since I was very young and I’m used to taking care of them and going on walks. I’m currently working from home so am available during the day and after work. I’m also available during weekends if needed in my area. I’m currently living in a flat so I would be going for regular walks if staying at my places, otherwise can bring my laptop and do the same over at your place.

Caitlin was absolutely brilliant! Our dog Banzai is newly adopted and still very nervous, but from the moment Caitlin stepped through the door she put her at ease. We almost couldn't believe it when we received pics of Banzai playing, cuddling and having belly rubs - she never normally relaxes that quickly, so Caitlin obviously understood what she needed and built trust quickly. Caitlin was lovely in communication throughout, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other animal owners! Thanks Caitlin, hope you can hang out with Banzai again soon :)

Ariah had such a lovely weekend with Marianne while my husband and I attended a wedding that she didn't want her to leave afterwards! Our flat was beautifully clean and tidy when we returned too. We have a longer sit booked in a month too and I am 100% confident leaving Ariah and our home in Marianne's capable hands!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lewes

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Lewes on Rover is £44.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,707 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lewes. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Lewes walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lewes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
