“We had a great experience with Milo. Our dogs got attached to him quite quickly. He made efforts to meet and know the dogs before the actual sit, which gave us peace of mind that the dogs had become used to him. He sent us regular updates of his planned day with the dogs and also sent photos like we requested. He followed the dogs routine for walks and meals. The highlight of his stay was he was successful in taking our nervous dog for a walk, which showed his ability to handle dogs with different needs. We trust him with our dogs and will definitely use him again and highly recommend him. Thanks for looking after the dogs for us Milo! :-)”

“Can't recommend Tracey enough, a real animal lover. We felt totally comfortable letting her stay in our home and looking after our dog Bracken. She was punctual, respectful and flexible to us getting back a bit late. I would definitely use her again and I know bracken would love it too, a really lovely person ?”

“Ash looked after our very busy house for ten days and did a wonderful job. They are responsive, sent lots of photos and cared for the house beautifully. Ash is incredibly caring and diligent - we have 2 dogs, 2 cats and 4 baby tortoises (so lots of animals!) and they looked after everyone magnificently and kept us updated throughout. Ash groomed and massaged the dogs and I think the animals had a great time and will all miss her terribly so I shall book her for some dog walks in the future and have no hesitation in asking her to dog sit again if we go away. Can highly recommend.”

“Jordan was great with Oso, very understanding of his needs and flexible with his requirements. Jordan was on time and left the apartment as it was. Communication was great and we’ll definitely book him again.”

“Over the Christmas period our usual house sitting options were unavailable so we used Rover for the first time and were soon put in touch with Abe. Luckily he had availability and we had a meet up beforehand to allow him to meet Lily. Abe is a super friendly guy and you can tell he has a lot of experience around dogs. As he lives nearby he was flexible on start and end timings and he knew all the local walks. Over the time we were away we were kept up to date with activities at home and we got regular photos. When we got back Lily was super calm and relaxed - the sign of a good week! We wouldn’t hesitate to have Abe over again or recommend to others”

“Inna is the perfect Dogsitter. She’s punctual, inquisitive, professional and great with communication. I felt very secure and reassured while she looked after my 9mo puppy, Rupert. I would happily hire Inna again!”

“Amanda looked after Peggy Sue so well when I was away and was very communicative and sent photos to put my mind at rest. Will not hesitate to book her again if she’s available!”

“Rae is fantastic!!! Very experienced with dogs - and great with my two nervy rescues. Great communicator, reliable and super nice. Will definitely be calling again!!!! Thanks Rae xx”

“Daphne was wonderful with our 4 month old puppy! Sid was very happy in her company and we came home to a very calm and content little puppy! We were super nervous leaving her with someone for such a long time as she can be a handful but Daphne was completely unphased which put us at ease! She also left our house in the same state we left it in, couldn’t even tell someone had been there! Daphne is also just the loveliest person I could not recommend her higher! Absolutely will be reuniting Sid and Daphne in the future!”

“Lauren has been absolutely amazing with both Millie and Leo (Bengal & Cocker). This was the first time we`ve left our dog while traveling but Lauren`s calm and professional manner allowed my wife and I to relax while away. Lauren took the time to visit and get to know our pets before hand plus sent regular text updates and photos / video which was very much appreciated. I can highly recommend Lauren and wouldn't hesitate to have her look after my pets & home again!”

“Ok ha is very efficient and caring. She provided regular updates and pictures and if she wasn’t sure of anything she confirmed it with me straight away. Would definitely recommend”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and have over 40 years of hands-on experience caring for them. I grew up with dogs and have looked after many different breeds, sizes, and temperaments over the years. Friends, neighbours, and family have regularly relied on me to walk, feed, care for, and spend quality time with their dogs. For the past three years, I’ve also been a regular carer for a lovely dog named Mikki, providing consistent companionship, walks, feeding, and attentive day-to-day care. I understand how important routine, trust, and calm handling are for dogs, and I always treat them with patience, respect, and genuine care—just as if they were my own. Pet care fits easily into my routine, and I’m able to be flexible depending on your pet’s needs. I’m available for regular visits, feeding times, walks, playtime, companionship, and check-ins. I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual schedule closely and make sure they receive calm, attentive care without being rushed. I take safety and trust very seriously and always care for pets in a calm, responsible way, whether in my home or in the owner’s home. I follow all instructions carefully, keep pets secure at all times, and make sure food, water, exercise, and routines are maintained as requested. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality and needs, giving them space, reassurance, or interaction as appropriate, and I always treat pets as if they were my own.
About: I’ve cared for dogs for several years, including my own dog as well as family members’ and family friends’ dogs. Through this experience, I’ve looked after dogs with different personalities and routines, taking care of feeding, walking, playing, providing companionship, and ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. I’m confident with daily care, sticking to owners’ instructions, and giving each dog plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I understand how important it is to keep owners updated and to treat every dog as if they were my own. I also have experience caring for a young dog, so I’m familiar with puppy routines, basic training reinforcement, toilet breaks, and providing lots of patience and positive encouragement. I’m currently working part time on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday early mornings so I am available from around 9am on those days. On my days off I have a very flexible schedule and I always ensure my calendar is up to date with my availability. Whilst house sitting my main priority is to ensure that your pet feels minimal disruption and feels safe and comfortable in their home with me. I will follow all care instructions including feeding schedules, walks, medication and any house rules you may have for your pet. I will treat your home with respect by ensuring it is secure and clean so that you can feel minimal disruption from my stay. I will send regular updates and photos so you can see exactly what your pet is doing.
“Amy and Jamie took amazing care of our dog and cat while we were away for two weeks. CJ had a brilliant time and it was great to know she was happy and being well looked after at home while we were away. Thanks again!”

“Chantelle house sat with my dog Shadow over a long weekend and was an exceptional pet sitter. She was reliable, communicative, caring and responsible. Shadow needs arthritis meds regularly & Chantelle walked him, stayed with him & made sure he received his medication as needed. She even went out of her way to post a Christmas gift that we had left behind. It can be tricky thing when deciding to leave your home and your pet in the hands of someone new. If you’re looking for someone who you can trust to take care of your pets and who you can entrust with your home, look no further! A huge thank you to you Chantelle! We will most definitely be booking you again & again :)”

Lauren was brilliant, and we've already booked in with her again! Our cat seemed really happy and relaxed when we got home, and the pictures Lauren sent during her stay showed a very comfortable boy :) It was so nice knowing he was being well looked after while we were away.

Benita has been wonderful! This was our first time having a cat sitter stay at our house whilst we were away and she made us feel so comfortable. She looked after our cat with kindness and care and he seemed very happy in the photos she shared. We couldn't have asked for anything more and we think she will be our cat's new bestie!

Rachel took great care of our two cockerpoos and our house while we were away on holiday - many thanks. We came home to relaxed and happy pooches, and a lovely tidy house! She took time on our meet-and-greet beforehand to find out about our boys and stayed in regular contact with us. We'll definitely want to book Rachel again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Adur walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Adur choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
