“Tilly had a fabulous holiday with 2 week holiday with Karen and her family and new buddy Gandalph. We received lots of updates and photos which we greatly appreciated during the time away. Thank you Karmen, it was a pleasure meeting you and had every confidence in your service. Tilly is probably still missing the children”

“We have a happy, tired boy back home after a weekend at his favourite place, playing with friends and being looked after by Shelley and Marcus. Thank you once more, and see you soon!”

“Absolutely fantastic!! Flo was well loved and looked after, long walks and plenty of cuddles. I highly recommend Sarah to anyone in need of a dogsitter. We will certainly bring Flo back whenever we go away next and are unable to bring Flo. Thank you, Sarah & family for all your support.”

About: Hello! I’m Hannah and I’ve been a huge dog lover since a very early age. I regularly look after family, friends and colleagues dogs and now do this alongside my full-time job. I have also fostered dogs long-term for Raystede animal charity. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. For dog boarding, I appreciate that every dog has their own individual needs and routine and I try to recreate this in my home. I know pets are family, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I work from home 3 days a week and have alternate Friday’s off, so I have lots of time to cuddle your pups! I don’t work weekends so am extra flexible on Saturdays and Sundays. There are two external doors (excluding front door) to get outside, so your pets will be very safe in the flat. There is a communal garden unfenced but away from the road, a woods about 5 minutes away, plus a large park at the top of my road.
“Poppy had a great time. Zoe ket me up to date during Poppy's stay and sent over some lovely pics of her on walks. Lovely family home with 2 gorgeous spaniels. Collected a tired happy doggo, and had a stress free weekend away with dog care sorted.”

“Jennifer and her husband did a wonderful job boarding Hugo and Dobby, they took great care of them, sent updates and pictures. The dogs were very happy, healthy and relaxed when we picked them up”

“Wow! We are so grateful to Hollie² for taking such good care of Maureen whilst we had a weekend away. They were able to take our booking last minute (including the meet and greet to make sure their lovely dogs got on with Maureen) and we are so glad they did as it meant we found their service and we'll rebook if we can for sure! Such lovely people, perfect blend of diligent in understanding your dogs particular needs or quirks whilst being relaxed and authentic dog lovers. Thank you so much. Maureen misses them already!”

“Nessa was a fantastic host, and her Cavs made great playmates for our Norfolk Terrier. Thank you Nessa for being so careful introducing our pup to your home. She will be back soon I'm sure!”

“Our 2 dogs were so happy at Tristan's. Got daily updates and photos/videos! Looking forward to booking with him again! @tristan - thank you again so much! Be back soon 🐾🐾”

“My Bonnie had a wonderful time with Sarah and her family. Sarah was very quick to respond to messages pre booking and sent photos and updates every day! I would strongly recommend her and will ask her again when we go away next time!”

About: I’ve owned dogs for over 20 years and have fostered several rescues, including dogs with complex needs. I’m fully licensed by Mid Sussex District Council, trained in canine first aid, and experienced with a wide range of behaviours and routines. I only care for sociable dogs and keep numbers low to ensure a calm, relaxed home environment. I’m confident with raw feeding, medication, senior care, and creating personalised routines to help doggies feel safe and settled. Every pup is treated like one of my own. I work full-time as a licensed home boarder, so dog care is at the heart of my daily routine. I’m home throughout the day, and the dogs are never left alone for long periods. Their day is structured with play, enrichment, rest, and outdoor time in the secure garden. Feeding, walks, and downtime are tailored to each dog’s individual needs. Whether it’s daycare or boarding, your dog will be part of a calm, stable home environment and treated like family. Dogs in my care live in the home with me – they’re never kept in kennels or isolated. I have a dedicated doggy dayroom with direct access to a secure garden, providing a calm, cosy space for play, enrichment, and rest.

“Jade was superb and I will happily book her again. She clearly cares and loves dogs and our two had a great time staying with Jade with plenty of walks and cuddles. Great comms before and during the stay.”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs since I was 9 and often walked people’s dogs on ‘Borrow my Doggy’ in London and Sussex. I’ve often looked after friend’s dogs when they’re on holiday. I work from home so am able to look after a dog easily. I can walk dogs in the morning, at lunch and in the evening. I can also look after dogs at the weekend. I live very close to the park. I live in a flat but am only a few minutes from the park so can walk there very easily, multiple times a day with the dog.
“As soon as we left our collie cross dog Murphy with Karl, we were immediately reassured, we knew Murphy was going to be happy, he took to his holiday home like a duck to water We couldn’t have asked for a better person to care for him, we have already booked him in for an October break and would not hesitate in recommending him.”

“I was so impressed with Lara and Simon, they did a fantastic job with my old pointer, Tilly. Tilly's very clingy and has a special diet, so she's not the easiest to look after, but they were really accommodating and did such an amazing job of making her feel welcome and keeping her happy! I would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking for a dogsitter ❤️”

“Our little Milo had the best time with Jess and Dom. They sent regular updates and treated him like their own! We will definitely be using them again and again.”

About: I’ve always grown up with dogs and 3 years ago I got my own. A Black & Tan Cavalier called Mack. He’s the most spoilt little boy and your dog would be treated exactly the same when in my home. Love, attention, playtime & snacks. I live in a flat with no access to a garden but with lots of green spaces and walks nearby for regular toilet breaks. I’m a very intuitive owner understanding what your dog needs at any given moment from their behaviour and body language. My dog Mack is a very docile boy who gets on with every dog, all I ask is your dog is good with other dogs too 🙏🏻 I work hybrid so spend a few days in the office and a few days at home. On WFH days Mack and I get out in the morning for a long walk in a nearby woodland and then it is back home for snoozes on the sofa until lunchtime when we have snacks, playtime and another toilet break. I do not have a garden or outdoor area but live in a very dog friendly building with lots of green spaces and good walks nearby for regular toilet breaks and exercise. My home is big enough to pick the perfect sleeping spot with water, love and snacks always readily available.
About: 🐾Home-from-Home Boarding - One Dog Family at a Time - Secure Garden - WFH Hi, I'm Maria, and I live with my wife Helen and our teenage sons in the beautiful village of Handcross, near Haywards Heath. For many years, our home revolved around our much-loved cockapoo, Sox. After recently saying goodbye to him, we're not quite ready for another dog of our own, but we really miss having a furry companion around the house and would love to share our home, care and affection with your dog. One thing that makes our care a little different is that we only welcome dogs from one family at a time. This means your dog won't have to compete for attention or share their space with lots of unfamiliar dogs. Instead, they'll enjoy a calm, relaxed environment with plenty of one-to-one care and affection. Having cared for Sox from puppyhood through to his senior years, including supporting him with mobility issues and medication, we're experienced in caring for dogs at every stage of life. We're both home during the day, so your dog will rarely be left alone and will enjoy plenty of companionship, attention and love throughout their stay. We know how important it is to feel confident when leaving your dog in someone else's care. That's why we'll take the time to get to know their routine, personality and individual needs, helping them settle in at their own pace. Whether your dog loves long countryside walks and adventures or prefers a cosy spot on the sofa and plenty of cuddles, we'll make sure they feel safe, happy and completely at home. Your dog will have free run of our home and be treated as one of the family, just as Sox always was. We have a secure enclosed garden and are surrounded by beautiful countryside, woodland trails and private estate grounds, offering plenty of opportunities for exercise, enrichment and lots of sniff-filled adventures. We'll also keep you updated with messages and photos during your dog's stay, so you can relax knowing they're happy, settled and being well looked after. We can't wait to meet you and welcome your dog into our home-from-home. 🐾 We’re used to having a dog who enjoyed at least three walks a day, and as we’re both at home, we have plenty of time and flexibility to follow your dog’s usual routine. We offer a calm, safe home from home where your dog is treated like part of the family. Lots of one to one attention without other unfamiliar dogs around 🐾 We would like to keep everything familiar for them, including walks, feeding times, rest and any little extras like medication or special care.

We wish we could give Jennifer more than 5 stars! She took such wonderful care of our dog while we were away, and we felt so confident that she was in good hands. Jennifer was especially attentive to keeping her cool during the hot weather, adapting walks and play time accordingly to keep her safe and comfortable, and she kept us posted with frequent updates during her stay. We’d happily board with Jennifer again, and would very highly recommend her!

I was so impressed with Lara and Simon, they did a fantastic job with my old pointer, Tilly. Tilly's very clingy and has a special diet, so she's not the easiest to look after, but they were really accommodating and did such an amazing job of making her feel welcome and keeping her happy! I would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking for a dogsitter ❤️

Nessa is everything you could hope for in a dog sitter. From the moment Tilly arrived, she was treated as one of the family and quickly settled into the warm, calm environment that Nessa has created for her dogs. Communication was excellent throughout and we received regular updates, photos and reassurance that Tilly was happy and comfortable. Nessa clearly has a deep understanding of small older dogs and pays close attention to each dog's individual personality, routine and wellbeing. The secure field walks, enrichment activities, beautiful garden and constant companionship meant Tilly enjoyed a wonderful little holiday of her own while we were away. Most importantly, we knew she was safe, loved and receiving exceptional care. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nessa to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, thoughtful and genuinely caring sitter, especially for gentle dogs who thrive in a home-from-home environment.

Leaving Willow with Sarah for a week was a no brainer for us. Sarah always has the dog's best interest at heart and even gave the odd update to show how well Willow (who is usually quite anxious) was relaxed, having lovely walks and playtime. We could have a week away with complete peace of mind and came back to a relaxed and bouncy dog.

We were so lucky to have found Karmen who accepted our request to look after our little pug, Kiki, last minute! She was flexible, caring, patient and also took time to understand Kiki's needs. She kept us updated throughout the whole time and made us feel completely at ease being away from our Kiki. We cannot recommend Karmen enough!

We cannot recommend Ilona enough! As new dog parents, we were understandably nervous leaving our puppy for the first time, but she put us completely at ease from the very start. Ilona was so warm, accommodating, and genuinely reassuring throughout the whole experience. Our pup had an absolute blast and exactly what we were hoping for: loads of activity, plenty of cuddles, and wonderful socialization with other dogs. Ilona's home is clearly a loving and stimulating environment, and you can just tell she genuinely loves and cares for your dog, The regular updates and photos she sent along the way meant the world to us to see our pup so happy. She is without a doubt incredibly skilled, and we will be rebooking without a single hesitation. Thank you so much Ilona, our puppy loved every moment!
Claire was absolutely wonderful looking after our dog, Pepper, for the week. From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease and that peace of mind continued the entire time we were away. Claire already feels more like a family friend. She clearly loves and understands dogs, and Pepper took to her straight away. Claire kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which meant so much to us and reassured us that Pepper was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. It was obvious that she gave Pepper plenty of attention, affection, and exercise. When we returned, Pepper was calm, content, and clearly very comfortable with Claire: always the best sign! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Claire to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and responsible dog sitter. We’re so grateful for the fantastic care she gave Pepper and would happily book her again.

Simone was absolutely brilliant - from the communication beforehand to the updates and photos whilst Angus was in her care, I felt happy that Angus was in good hands. Simone clearly loves animals and went the extra mile to ensure she knew all about Angus so that she could give him the best holiday, and he clearly loved his time there. I can't recommend Simone highly enough!

Sarah was wonderful looking after Barney for me last minute. She is clearly a dog person and I felt very relaxed leaving him with her (& her friendly cocker spaniel Ruby). Sarah has an enormous garden which Barney loved. I wouldn't hesitate leaving him with her again.
We are so grateful that Jess and Dom were able to look after Nacho. They were so so great - brilliant communication, we did a meet and greet beforehand which was helpful, and they gave us regular updates and photos. Nacho looked like he had a lovely time and trust that Jsss and Dom have him all the care and attention he needed and more!

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
