Pet care experience

A calm home for gentle small dogs

I share my home with three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels of varying ages, which has given me a deep understanding of their gentle temperament, sensitivity, and social nature. With over 15 years’ experience caring for small dogs, I’m particularly confident with calm, affectionate breeds who thrive in a relaxed, home-from-home environment. My home offers plenty of indoor space, a large fully dog-proofed garden, and a balance of sociable areas and quiet retreat spaces. I care for female dogs only and am best suited to well-socialised, settled dogs who enjoy gentle companionship rather than very high-energy or busy environments. I’m also experienced in administering medication and supporting older dogs who may need a little extra care and patience.

Nessa is everything you could hope for in a dog sitter. From the moment Tilly arrived, she was treated as one of the family and quickly settled into the warm, calm environment that Nessa has created for her dogs. Communication was excellent throughout and we received regular updates, photos and reassurance that Tilly was happy and comfortable. Nessa clearly has a deep understanding of small older dogs and pays close attention to each dog's individual personality, routine and wellbeing. The secure field walks, enrichment activities, beautiful garden and constant companionship meant Tilly enjoyed a wonderful little holiday of her own while we were away. Most importantly, we knew she was safe, loved and receiving exceptional care. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nessa to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, thoughtful and genuinely caring sitter, especially for gentle dogs who thrive in a home-from-home environment.

Nessa looked after our young Cockapoo, Luna, for a week whilst we were away. Luna had the best time and was very well looked after. Nessa kept us updated with photos and videos and ensured Luna had plenty of playtime and exercise. Nessa was also careful to exercise her in the cooler parts of the day during the recent heatwave. I would definitely recommend Nessa and will happily use her again 😊

Our cockapoo had a wonderful day with Nessa and her dogs. Nessa kept me updated, sharing photos and a video and Luna came home happy and suitably worn out. Will use Nessa again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

It's hard to take Pippa away from a trip at Nessa and co's. She has a wonderful time with the girls, and comes back happy and spent. Nessa is very accommodating and an experienced dog owner. We were concerned with leaving Pippa as she had just begun a season, but Nessa made the necessary arrangements and assured us that all would be well. This put our minds at rest- thank you Nessa!

Izzy had the most wonderful time with Nessa and her three gorgeous doggies. She had so much fun playing ball with them and had loads of lovely walks and time in the garden. She will definitely be returning!

Schedule

I’m at home full-time, so dogs are supervised and included in family life throughout the day. We enjoy gentle garden play, enrichment activities, and regular visits to a private, fully enclosed field for safe off-lead time. I place a strong emphasis on a calm, balanced environment. Dogs are free to move between indoor and outdoor spaces, and I have several separate rooms available for those who prefer quiet time or need a break from socialising. Rest and relaxation are just as important as play. I’m very happy to follow each dog’s usual routine, including feeding, sleep preferences, and any specific needs. Crates are very welcome if your dog is used to one, as familiar items can help them settle more easily.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a quiet neighbourhood with a large, secure garden for relaxed play and exploration. Dogs are always supervised and encouraged to settle into a calm, home-from-home routine with free access to outside at all times. All dogs are fed separately to avoid any stress or competition, and I take care to ensure each doggie guest feels comfortable and secure in their own space.

Pets

A typical day

Our days are relaxed and gentle, with a lovely balance of garden play, enrichment toys, chews, and plenty of sofa time for those who enjoy a cuddle. I have a range of enrichment activities to suit different personalities, which are especially helpful on quieter or rainy days. We also regularly visit a private, fully enclosed field for safe off-lead walkies, giving dogs the chance to stretch their legs and explore in a secure environment. It’s a calm, home-from-home rhythm here, focused on enjoyment, comfort, and gentle companionship rather than high levels of stimulation.

The more I understand about your doggie’s routine, temperament and preferences, the better I can ensure they feel secure and happy while with us. I’m particularly interested in how they are around other dogs in the home, how they respond to games, enrichment toys, rest time, and whether they have any particular medical, dietary or sleep needs.
