“Thank you Maria and family. Jasper had a lovely time with you. It was reassuring to have photos and updates and nice to see what he was up to! Lots of fun and cuddles had - happy boy with you. Thank you. Maria is a super understanding host who pays attention to detail to ensure she fully understands dogs routines and needs. Very responsive to messages.”

“We were so pleased with the care Trigger received during his stay with Alisha and Dan. He had an absolutely lovely time, especially playing with their dog Murphy, which was great to hear! Alisha and Dan were fantastic sitters—friendly, reliable, and clearly very caring. They kept us regularly updated with plenty of feedback, which really put our minds at ease while we were away. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy and attentive dog sitters. Trigger came home happy and relaxed, which says it all!”

“We have a nervous dog, so finding the right sitter is always a worry but from the moment he was with Iddy our anxieties disappeared completely. She kept him so busy and engaged, with forest walks, socialising opportunities, adventures, and her kids getting involved too. He was stimulated, happy, and clearly well looked after every single day. She went above and beyond anything we’d hoped for or expected. The care, effort, and genuine warmth she put in was something else entirely. We’ll absolutely be using Iddy again and cannot recommend her enough. She is, quite simply, a gem.”

“Sammy dog sat for us for 1 night as a trial to see if our dog would be happy and settled. We dropped him off on Wednesday evening and collected him on Thursday evening. Sammy was quick to reply to my check in messges. Geoff was well looked after and we are happy that Sammy has agreed to look after him again in a few months as we know he will be loved and well looked after in our absence.”

“Andrea and her husband are so lovely, and so is there dog Bella. They took such good care of willow. I felt very at ease leaving her for the first time in their home and Andrea was super communicative all day, sending lovely updates. Will absolutely use again!”

“We recently had Craig and Jen look after our dog, Eva, while we were on holiday, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the moment we booked through Rover, the process was super easy and seamless. Craig and Jen were amazing hosts for Eva, keeping us updated with regular photos and videos of her playing and enjoying her walks. It was so reassuring to see how happy she was, and she even got along wonderfully with their family pet dog! Eva came home content and not at all resentful about us being away—if anything, she seemed like she would have happily stayed with Craig, Jen, and their family longer! It’s clear they treated her as one of their own. We’re so relieved to have found such a loving and welcoming family for Eva to stay with, and we will definitely be reaching out to Craig and Jen again the next time we need a dog sitter. Highly recommended!”

“Helen and her family did a great job taking care of our young dog and we felt confident that she was in good hands. Great communication and they even had spare dog toys for Rimu to play with. Would book with them again any time!”

“Suzanne was an excellent dog boarder and animal lover. Her own dog is really beautiful & friendly and became great pals with mine. She was professional and warm and made me feel very at ease that Mungo was in good hands. Her communication was great & She sent me regular updates on how Mungo was getting on. I would highly recommend Suzanne and will not hesitate to book her in the future. ?”

About: I am 29 years old and a mum to a four year old. I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a teenager. I have always been an animal lover but never had the opportunity to have a pet for myself. I am currently a stay at home mum so am available during the week and at the weekends depending on your needs. My child does attend preschool so I can work around walks without bringing my little one along with me if needed. I am living in a ground floor flat but have a fenced and gated garden so your pet will be safe when roaming in the garden.
“Harley boarded with Caroline overnight. Very secure garden. Lots of welcome updates and plenty of walks. Caroline was even kind enough to return the forgotten dog bowl. Would happily recommend her services.”

“We had a wonderful experience with this Elizabeth. I feel very lucky to have found her because she took such thoughtful care of our dog, who recently became blind. Elizabeth is friendly, considerate and great with communications. She made sure our dog felt safe, comfortable, and well looked after during his stay. It’s clear she has a genuine love, patience and understanding for dogs and experience with dogs with special needs. I really appreciated the updates she sent and the caring environment she provided. We look forward to having our dog stay with her again. Highly recommended!”

“This was the first time I’ve ever left my dog with anyone other than friends, and Monique completely eased my worries from the very first meet and greet. Her home is calm, welcoming, and full of love for dogs - it truly felt like the perfect environment for Suzie. Monique went above and beyond to make sure Suzie was happy and comfortable, and the regular updates gave me such peace of mind while I was away. When I picked Suzie up, she was relaxed, content, and clearly had been treated like family. I’m so grateful for the care and kindness Monique showed us both. Thank you, Monique, for making this experience so positive - I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend you to anyone looking for someone who genuinely loves and understands dogs.”

“Vanessa is a great and ovely dog carer, the drop off went really well, she sorted Milo sleeping bed next to her two lovely dogs and made Milo feel welcomed straight away and totallyat home! She kept us informed every day of Milo’s days with cute photos and videos and reassured us he was doing great. We will definitely use Vanessa again thank you for taking care of our little rascal and making him one of the family!”

About: Hi! I’m Eszter and I’m a reliable and caring animal lover based in Southwater. I’ve always been around dogs and genuinely enjoy spending time with them—whether that’s long walks, playtime, or just keeping them company. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I’ll always make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while they’re with me! I’ll treat your dog like my own and keep you updated with photos and messages so you have peace of mind. 😊 My work schedule is very flexible and I have plenty of days off to look after your fur baby! I also have a car and I don’t mind if it gets dirty after a big walk. I live right next to a park so it’s super easy to go for big walks. I also have a small garden if your dog wants some fresh air!
“Karolina was great with Fred, sent me a message not long after drop off to let me know how he was. Kept me up to date throughout and Fred seemed very relaxed when he was picked up. Overall a good experience and we will most definitely use Karolina again.”

“Charlotte provided excellent care for our Ozzy. We felt she was very knowledgeable and felt totally at ease leaving him there for a night. She is very responsive and kept us informed. Lots of play and walks. Would definitely recommend her and Ozzy is looking forward to his next stay! :)”

“Michelle went above and beyond looking after our dog for the weekend, while we got married close by! She even popped by to allow us to take pictures on our special day with our dog. Michelle has a wonderful home and a gorgeous big garden that is enclosed, allowing dogs to run around freely and safely. We felt very at easy during our dog’s stay knowing Michelle was perfectly trustworthy and knowledgeable re dog care.”

About: I live with my husband Barry on a five-acre smallholding in Shermanbury, with plenty of space, a secure fenced garden and beautiful countryside on our doorstep. I am self employed working from home part time so I’m at home throughout the day with plenty of time so your dog will have lots of company, attention and regular walks. Our own friendly dog, Lulu enjoys the company of other dogs, and we’ll treat your pet as one of the family, making sure they feel safe, happy and loved while you’re away. Mornings start early with a walk to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. Between breakfast and lunch we do enrichment activities to keep things mentally stimulating, followed by a twenty-minute toilet break up to the woods to make sure everyone’s comfortable. After lunch there’s another round of enrichment before dinner, which is followed by an evening walk. Throughout the day there’s plenty of time for play and exercise, so your dog will never be short of stimulation or company. We live on a five-acre smallholding with open space and woodland to explore, plus a fenced garden and a fenced paddock for safe, secure play. There’s loads of room to roam and burn off energy, whether that’s a gentle wander or a proper run-around. The space is set up so dogs can play freely while staying secure, and there’s always somewhere new to sniff and explore.

Our Sprocker absolutely loved her week-long holiday with Monique, Portia and their dog, Charlie. We were kept regularly updated with lots of photos and stories of her adventures, from fantastic walks to meeting new canine friends. Monique is incredibly conscientious, always checking for ticks after walks and taking great care to follow our dog's dietary needs and any other requirements. It was clear throughout her stay that she was being treated as one of the family. We are delighted that we chose Monique and Portia to look after her. Knowing she was so happy and well cared for meant we could relax and enjoy our own holiday, and we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. We just hope our diaries align for future stays!

It’s been our first time using Rover and our first time meeting Helen and her family. Both experiences have been excellent and better than I could imagine. Our dog was clearly very happy when we went to meet them for the first time and I felt very reassured when meeting them all that they would care for him well and he would feel at home. Helen sent some photos and updates when we were away which were lovely and when we returned he looked very well looked after and happy. There needed to be an adjustment of end date to the booking whilst away and it was easy and seamless on the site. I would definitely use Rover again if I need to and Helen if she is available and happy to have him.

Indie, my labradoodle, had a brilliant time staying witn Samantha and making new friends. Samantha was incredibly accomodating with the short-notice booking and very friendly. She clearly loves dogs and kept me updated with messages and photos. I will definitely be booking again and I know Indie will be glad to see her and Rocco again!

I was apprehensive about leaving my dog for the first time overnight. Sam and her family were very kind. Our dog had a great time, photographs showed him chilled out… which was reassuring for us. We all as dog lovers want to find a family with the same values to care for our precious pets. Sam and her family far exceeded my expectations… we will be returning and am very pleased to have found her. Thank you Sam

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
