“Our usual dog sitter has moved away too far so found Alisha on here. So glad we found her! Luna and Murphy have got on soo well. She’s very playful and full on and Murphy is so chilled and accepts her. Alisha was so good when meeting Luna and Luna instantly liked her. She can be a bit funny with men but also instantly liked Alisha’s husband, Dan. Really appreciated Alisha doing a meet and greet and having Luna for a free daycare to ensure Luna was comfortable. She’s also helped to work on Luna’s recall and heel walking. Would definitely recommend Alisha and will use her as our sitter now!”

“We left our 18 month old cockapoo with Maria and Helen for 2 days and they took such lovely care of him. They kept us updated with lots of cute pictures and we'll definitely be using them again!”

“Andrea and her husband are so lovely, and so is there dog Bella. They took such good care of willow. I felt very at ease leaving her for the first time in their home and Andrea was super communicative all day, sending lovely updates. Will absolutely use again!”

“Sammy dog sat for us for 1 night as a trial to see if our dog would be happy and settled. We dropped him off on Wednesday evening and collected him on Thursday evening. Sammy was quick to reply to my check in messges. Geoff was well looked after and we are happy that Sammy has agreed to look after him again in a few months as we know he will be loved and well looked after in our absence.”

“Second time we've boarded our doggo with Iddy. As always she went above and beyond. Iddy offers him such diverse enrichment, that I think he may have been sad coming home this time 🤣 He was very well cared for and she always keeps us updated with lots of pictures. We cannot recommend her enough!”

“Helen and her family did a great job taking care of our young dog and we felt confident that she was in good hands. Great communication and they even had spare dog toys for Rimu to play with. Would book with them again any time!”

“Thank you Craig and family for having Enzo during our weekend away. Enzo had a great weekend by the looks of it and enjoyed spending time with your lovely family and dogs. He can’t wait to come again!”

“Our 10 month old crossbreed terrier pup Tux, had an amazing weekend with Suzanne. This was the first time he’d been left with anyone and I can honestly say that we are so pleased that we chose to use Suzanne. She kept us updated throughout the weekend with videos and pictures of them enjoying some lovely walks. Tux really seemed to take to Suzanne and to Watson her beautiful Springer spaniel. We have no hesitation in recommending her and will certainly book Suzanne again.”

“Harley boarded with Caroline overnight. Very secure garden. Lots of welcome updates and plenty of walks. Caroline was even kind enough to return the forgotten dog bowl. Would happily recommend her services.”

“Thank you for looking after Ruby for the week. She clearly enjoyed her stay as she seemed a bit sad to come home! Thanks for the photos that were reassuring and I’m happy that she got on with your dogs too.”

“We had a wonderful experience with this Elizabeth. I feel very lucky to have found her because she took such thoughtful care of our dog, who recently became blind. Elizabeth is friendly, considerate and great with communications. She made sure our dog felt safe, comfortable, and well looked after during his stay. It’s clear she has a genuine love, patience and understanding for dogs and experience with dogs with special needs. I really appreciated the updates she sent and the caring environment she provided. We look forward to having our dog stay with her again. Highly recommended!”

About: I am 29 years old and a mum to a four year old. I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a teenager. I have always been an animal lover but never had the opportunity to have a pet for myself. I am currently a stay at home mum so am available during the week and at the weekends depending on your needs. My child does attend preschool so I can work around walks without bringing my little one along with me if needed. I am living in a ground floor flat but have a fenced and gated garden so your pet will be safe when roaming in the garden.
“This was the first time I’ve ever left my dog with anyone other than friends, and Monique completely eased my worries from the very first meet and greet. Her home is calm, welcoming, and full of love for dogs - it truly felt like the perfect environment for Suzie. Monique went above and beyond to make sure Suzie was happy and comfortable, and the regular updates gave me such peace of mind while I was away. When I picked Suzie up, she was relaxed, content, and clearly had been treated like family. I’m so grateful for the care and kindness Monique showed us both. Thank you, Monique, for making this experience so positive - I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend you to anyone looking for someone who genuinely loves and understands dogs.”

“Vanessa is a great and ovely dog carer, the drop off went really well, she sorted Milo sleeping bed next to her two lovely dogs and made Milo feel welcomed straight away and totallyat home! She kept us informed every day of Milo’s days with cute photos and videos and reassured us he was doing great. We will definitely use Vanessa again thank you for taking care of our little rascal and making him one of the family!”

About: I live with my husband Barry on a five-acre smallholding in Shermanbury, with plenty of space, a secure fenced garden and beautiful countryside on our doorstep. I am self employed working from home part time so I’m at home throughout the day with plenty of time so your dog will have lots of company, attention and regular walks. Our own friendly dog, Lulu enjoys the company of other dogs, and we’ll treat your pet as one of the family, making sure they feel safe, happy and loved while you’re away. Mornings start early with a walk to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. Between breakfast and lunch we do enrichment activities to keep things mentally stimulating, followed by a twenty-minute toilet break up to the woods to make sure everyone’s comfortable. After lunch there’s another round of enrichment before dinner, which is followed by an evening walk. Throughout the day there’s plenty of time for play and exercise, so your dog will never be short of stimulation or company. We live on a five-acre smallholding with open space and woodland to explore, plus a fenced garden and a fenced paddock for safe, secure play. There’s loads of room to roam and burn off energy, whether that’s a gentle wander or a proper run-around. The space is set up so dogs can play freely while staying secure, and there’s always somewhere new to sniff and explore.
About: Hi! I’m Eszter and I’m a reliable and caring animal lover based in Southwater. I’ve always been around dogs and genuinely enjoy spending time with them—whether that’s long walks, playtime, or just keeping them company. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I’ll always make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while they’re with me! I’ll treat your dog like my own and keep you updated with photos and messages so you have peace of mind. 😊 My work schedule is very flexible and I have plenty of days off to look after your fur baby! I also have a car and I don’t mind if it gets dirty after a big walk. I live right next to a park so it’s super easy to go for big walks. I also have a small garden if your dog wants some fresh air!
“Charlotte provided excellent care for our Ozzy. We felt she was very knowledgeable and felt totally at ease leaving him there for a night. She is very responsive and kept us informed. Lots of play and walks. Would definitely recommend her and Ozzy is looking forward to his next stay! :)”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter than Nicola. Despite it being a last minute booking, she and her family took such kind and attentive care of my dog, especially because he was already unwell from the first day, he arrived with gastrointestinal issues and she went above and beyond to keep him clean, comfortable, and well looked after, even cooking rice to help him feel better and making sure he felt right at home. I also really appreciated the level of communication. Nicola kept me updated all the time, which gave me great peace of mind and reassured me that my dog was in safe, caring hands. She was also very mindful of his arthritis, making sure to walk him with extra care. What truly stood out was the level of love and attention she gave him. My dog is part of our family, and it meant so much to see him treated as if he were part of hers. He was genuinely happy staying with them and clearly felt safe and cared for. He also had a wonderful time with their lovely dog, Gino, who is kind and playful. The spacious garden gave them plenty of room to enjoy themselves, and my dog really made the most of it. I’m incredibly grateful for the level of care Nicola provided and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a genuine dog lover who will make their pet feel comfortable and part of the family.”

Our Sprocker absolutely loved her week-long holiday with Monique, Portia and their dog, Charlie. We were kept regularly updated with lots of photos and stories of her adventures, from fantastic walks to meeting new canine friends. Monique is incredibly conscientious, always checking for ticks after walks and taking great care to follow our dog's dietary needs and any other requirements. It was clear throughout her stay that she was being treated as one of the family. We are delighted that we chose Monique and Portia to look after her. Knowing she was so happy and well cared for meant we could relax and enjoy our own holiday, and we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. We just hope our diaries align for future stays!

It’s been our first time using Rover and our first time meeting Helen and her family. Both experiences have been excellent and better than I could imagine. Our dog was clearly very happy when we went to meet them for the first time and I felt very reassured when meeting them all that they would care for him well and he would feel at home. Helen sent some photos and updates when we were away which were lovely and when we returned he looked very well looked after and happy. There needed to be an adjustment of end date to the booking whilst away and it was easy and seamless on the site. I would definitely use Rover again if I need to and Helen if she is available and happy to have him.

Indie, my labradoodle, had a brilliant time staying witn Samantha and making new friends. Samantha was incredibly accomodating with the short-notice booking and very friendly. She clearly loves dogs and kept me updated with messages and photos. I will definitely be booking again and I know Indie will be glad to see her and Rocco again!

I was apprehensive about leaving my dog for the first time overnight. Sam and her family were very kind. Our dog had a great time, photographs showed him chilled out… which was reassuring for us. We all as dog lovers want to find a family with the same values to care for our precious pets. Sam and her family far exceeded my expectations… we will be returning and am very pleased to have found her. Thank you Sam
Liz was brilliant with Poppy. Poppy looked very at home with her and the rest of the family. And despite Poppy getting a last minute allergic reaction on the day I was going away Liz gave her the antibiotics and kept me updated with lovely pics and videos throughout the weekend, Poppy looked very at home in Liz’s home especially as they have a nice garden for her to enjoy. Poppy looked excited and relaxed when I came to collect her and came back nice and tired out! 🥰

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
