I work full time but term time only but Steve works shifts and we often have a fabulous au pair who also loves dogs so someone is usually around in the week and generally weekends/holidays. We update boarding calendar to only accept dog care on weekends in genereal so we would be home to care for them so we can give them the best experience, but if your dog is ok to be left for a couple of hours get in touch and we can possibly help in week / more frequently.

Safety, trust & environment
We live in a detached house with a fully fenced garden and plenty of space for dogs to explore. We are lucky enough to live in a great area for walks and love to get out as much as we can. We have two children under 8 who have grown up with dogs and are extremely comfortable and gentle with them.

Information Helen P. would like to know about your pet
Every dog is different so as much detail you can provide will help us ensure we can help them settle and feel as comfortable as we can. We do have children so dogs must be ok with kids.
A typical day
A typical day depends completely on the dog and their needs. Usually a long walk in the morning; our favourite places are the woods and fields so dogs with recall can run free or if on lead can sniff happily! A snoozy sunbathe in the garden or sunny spot in the kitchen tends to follow then maybe a quick trip to the park in the afternoon or some games in the garden.

Pet care experience
My husband, Steve, and I have both grown up with dogs and had our own amazing Labrador, Lola, for 9 years, raising her from a puppy. We loved training, walking and caring for her and she brought us so much joy and love. We sadly lost her to cancer in 2024 and we can't commit to a puppy right now. However walks seem a waste without a dog to enjoy it and we would love to provide love and care to any dog that needs it for a short time! This isn't a business for us, just for the enjoyment and love of dogs. We have looked after many of our friends/families dogs and love getting to know their unique personalities.
Reviews

It’s been our first time using Rover and our first time meeting Helen and her family. Both experiences have been excellent and better than I could imagine. Our dog was clearly very happy when we went to meet them for the first time and I felt very reassured when meeting them all that they would care for him well and he would feel at home. Helen sent some photos and updates when we were away which were lovely and when we returned he looked very well looked after and happy. There needed to be an adjustment of end date to the booking whilst away and it was easy and seamless on the site. I would definitely use Rover again if I need to and Helen if she is available and happy to have him.

Nora had an amazing time with Helen and her family. We were in need of a last minute sitter, and our experience couldn't have been better. Thank you so much!

Helen and Steve were so kind and loving with our little Cavapoo. Would definitely book again!
Tigger had a 5 star time with Helen and her family. He loved his walks and celebrating his 5th birthday with the family. They even gave him a special handmade card. Thank you for being so kind to Tigger.
