Safety, trust & environment
While a lot of my experience of providing safe care and a safe environment for dogs comes from my work in rescue kennels, I have also provided dog-sitting in homes on a number of occasions. - I'm currently well set up to look after dogs in clients’ homes, and I’m always keen to learn and follow any routines, rules, or instructions that you might have to ensure a safe, happy, and stress-free experience for both you and your dog. - I also have extensive experience of safely walking dogs in public spaces, and around other dogs. Walking dogs was a daily part of my work in rescue kennels, and a lot of the dogs I walked and encountered could be very reactive. You can rest assured that your dog will be safe, happy, and well looked after under my supervision when out and about. I want to add that I always prefer walking dogs on-lead. - I am not currently offering pet-sitting at my own home, as my family’s dog can initially be quite reactive to new dogs and needs to be introduced to them slowly.
Information Joseph C. would like to know about your pet
I’m more than happy to work with all different kinds of dogs, and in particular I find the process of building bonds with more behaviourally complex dogs extremely rewarding. I’m always available and keen to chat about any specific needs or behavioural quirks that your dog might have, in order to ensure that I am providing them with the appropriate accommodations. - I have lots of experience caring for dogs with medical and health-related requirements. In rescue kennels I was responsible for the daily administering of medication such as painkillers, tablets, eye-drops, ear-drops, and topical treatments - as well as being responsible for the general observation of all the dogs’ health conditions, communicating relevant information to a vet when necessary. I have extensive experience of caring for dogs through post-veterinary care and post-surgery recovery, as well as strong experience of caring for dogs through end-of-life palliative care situations. - And while I want to make it clear that I am not a dog trainer or a qualified dog behaviourist, I do have a lot of experience working with dogs that possess a wide range of behavioural challenges; resource guarding, touch sensitivity, stranger and dog reactivity, lead biting, and general stress, anxiety, or overexcitement. I pride myself on employing an understanding, patient, and calm approach towards dogs. I never try to force a dog into situations that make them stressed or uncomfortable, and always strive to treat them with respect. My goal is to build a bond of mutual trust and understanding, always taking things at their pace.
A typical day
In regard to what a typical day of dog care might look like, I am keen to cater my walking and dog-sitting to your dog’s needs. I can provide enriching activities in the home, and stimulating walks out and about. I can either walk in an area local to you or me, or take them out in my car on occasion if another location would be a bit more interesting for them; I'm happy and eager to provide whatever service your dog would enjoy most!

Thank you Joseph! Bob was absolutely comfortable and well taken care of, and attended to. With lots of daily updates and photos and videos, as well accommodating the home acitivites whilst we were away. Will definitely be using Joseph in future 🤗 Thank you

Joseph was brilliant with our pup. He kept us updated with photos and helpful notes. Woody was happy and calm after the drop-in, which was really reassuring to see. Lovely to know he was in such good hands, thank you!
I am pleased to be able to write a very positive testimonial for JOE. He is a perfect human. His parents have done a great job raising him with good manners, excellent social skills and a very considerate nature. I am a volunteer at Freshfields Animal Rescue and Joe worked on the kennel staff until recently. He was a great asset to the team, as he worked with some of the more challenging dogs, winning their trust with his calm caring manner and going above and beyond normal duties to enhance their daily activities, even taking the dogs offsite in his car, to the beach on his days off. Very sadly my own old dog has just passed away and Joe was on hand and ever willing to sit in my house, if I had to leave my dog briefly when he had become very unwell, to ensure my pet was safe until I returned home. Joe is responsible, a loving pet carer and completely trustworthy. Your clients will be impressed. I wish him well in this venture. He will not let you down.
I initially worked with Joe but then he soon became a good friend as well as a colleague. Joe has a very caring approach with animals. His calm demeanour not only puts pets at their ease but also helps them to overcome any fears they may have. Whilst working with Joe in a rescue kennel environment, I saw first hand how amazing he was around the dogs. There were a few dogs in particular that were extremely difficult and problematic and with patience and time, he helped them to come out of their shells and reveal their true personalities. One of these dogs Isla was extremely unsure of new people and other dogs. Shd could be quite vocal as well. Isla was being fostered and when her family were away, Joe spent a week in their home looking after Isla. I personally went round to the house and saw how relaxed Isla was and how much trust she had in Joe. I saw a different side to Isla and her fun side really shone through. This is just one story out of so many. I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending Joe to care for your pets. This outstanding young man is reliable, kind and very hardworking. Joe is trustworthy and always goes above and beyond and most importantly, he WON'T let you down.
