“Emily is wonderful! We left our little rescue dog with her over the weekend and they bonded instantly. Omy, our pup, can be quiet anxious and stubborn due to his background but he settled really quickly. He clearly picked up on Emily's chill and upbeat vibes! Emily did everything before we even asked her to, such as getting a fan on Omy as it was warm and he's got lots of fluff. She took him for walks and to meet her friends on the beach. And we got very frequent updates from Emily with lots of pics! We're so pleased to have found someone who gets Omy and who he gets on so well with. We will definitely be booking Emily again!”

“Birdy loves her time with Jenna. It’s like she is one of the family now and I trust her completely with my huge pup. She always asks if there’s any changes, anything she needs to know and sets my heart at rest. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend x”

“Lois was amazing, really communicative and friendly! She was so pleased to see Tinto and he was so happy and well looked after when we picked him up! Amazing dog sitter and Tinto is excited for his next stay with her.”

“Thank you for looking after Busy! Laura shared frequent updates with pictures and it always looked like Busy was being very well looked after. She raised any concerns promptly to ensure Busy got the best care possible. Would definitely rebook.”

“Clara is brilliant. Alfie has just returned from 3 nights with her and I can tell he had a great time. She was so welcoming and I immediately felt very comfortable leaving him with her. She clearly loves dogs and Alfie got on very well with her dog Vincent. She’s also an excellent communicator and was flexible when I needed to change drop off and pick up times. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”

“It was a last minute booking with Suzana but as soon as I met her, I knew Connie would be well cared for in a lovely home. Thank you for the regular photo updates and we will definitely be in touch when we visit Brighton again.”

“Bertie was VERY happy to see Caroline again and she took great care of him, taking him on long walks and giving him lots of snuggles. He ate all of his food, which he doesn’t usually do when he’s with a sitter as he’s quite anxious, so it shows he’s very comfortable with her, which is great. It’s so reassuring to know he’s so well looked after when he’s with her. Thank you, Caroline”

About: I have been caring for dogs and cats for 20+ years as I have had my own pets, I have volunteered as an animal carer, or I have sat pets of friend and neighbors. I have experience of caring for pets across age groups as well as health conditions. I am good at understanding the needs of animals and able to administer medication, etc. Although I have a full-time job, I have a lot of flexibility as I work from home and I can juggle my time through the day along with pet-sitting. I have dogs of my own but I can keep a guest dog in my home as we have spare room(s)/space. I also have a decent-sized garden. I have a small and a large crate too
“Jennifer responded very quickly to messages regarding bookings and set up etc. she sent us lots of photos of our dog keeping us up to date with his wellbeing. In the blistering heat she kept our dog safe and well. In the photos our dog looked very happy and content. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Jennifer to look after your dog.”

About: About Me Recently relocated to Brighton after many years pet sitting in Kingston/Surbiton. Lifelong animal person, I’ve had dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs… even a Jersey cow, goat and chickens at one point, so I’m very comfortable around different animals and temperaments. Alongside my regular cat clients, I now also dog sit — often for the same households who trusted me with their cats first. I only take one dog booking at a time, so your dog gets my full attention, a calm environment, and consistency. I’m happy to: • Sit in your home • Or host at mine (by arrangement) ⸻ My Experience I had two rescue cats (Niles & Frasier) from 6 months old who lived to 16 and 15 slightly eccentric, very loved, and much missed. I’ve also worked with a local rescue collecting abandoned cats and fostering so I’m confident with shy, anxious or more “characterful” pets. I now have a number of regular clients and repeat bookings.
About: I grew up surrounded by dogs at home and have always loved being around animals. I have a large home, so there is plenty of space for pets to feel comfortable and relaxed. I’m also the person my friends and family trust to look after their dogs and cats whenever they need someone. I genuinely love animals and enjoy giving them lots of attention, cuddles, playtime and care. I’m responsible, caring and always make sure pets feel happy, safe and at home. I’m not currently working full-time, so I have plenty of free time to care for pets. I occasionally work a few afternoons, but most of my time is flexible and I can give pets lots of attention and care. I’m happy to care for pets in my home or in their owner’s home. In my home, they’ll have plenty of space and a safe, comfortable environment. At the owner’s home, I’ll follow their usual routine and instructions so their pet feels comfortable and settled.
About: I’ve had dogs in my life since childhood and have spent many years helping care for dogs belonging to friends and family. Over the last 10+ years I’ve regularly helped with walking, feeding, company and general care, and I genuinely love being around animals. I work from home part of the week, which means I can offer dogs plenty of attention, companionship and regular walks throughout the day. I understand how important trust and reliability are when leaving your pet with someone, and I always aim to provide a calm, caring and safe environment where dogs feel comfortable and well looked after. I’m happy to follow your dog’s usual routine closely and can provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind while you’re away. I work a hybrid schedule, spending 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week. My work-from-home days are flexible rather than fixed, which allows me to be accommodating where possible. I work Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, and can also offer some evening and weekend availability with advance notice. While I don’t have a garden, I live in a spacious and comfortable flat in Hove, just a 5-minute walk from Hove Lawns and the beach. This means your pet will still enjoy plenty of fresh air, exercise and lovely walks in a relaxed seaside setting. “Lam helped out with an emergency two night stay, due to a sudden last minute work trip. Lam and Loki hit it off and he had such a great time with Lam, going on walks, shopping and sitting in pubs when it rained. Thanks again Lam - can’t recommend enough!”

“Andra and her partner, Jasper, were absolutely amazing with Caesar during his overnight stay. They made us feel completely comfortable and reassured about leaving him in their care, and it was clear that Caesar was very well looked after. We would highly recommend Andra and Jasper to anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog sitter, and we will definitely be using them again in the future.”

“Georgie was a fantastic sitter for our lovely shih tzu Chips! Georgie had Chips for a week and was just excellent from start to finish. She was very caring and kind, sent regular updates throughout our holiday and we felt Chips was loved and cared for so well. We met up before the week and went on a walk which really made me feel confident she would be a great person to leave our precious pooch with! I would not hesitate to recommend her services and would gladly ask her to look after him again if she is available. Thank you Georgie, from Lucy, Greg and Chips!”

“Alice was a fantastic dog sitter. Ruby had grrat long walks and loads of cuddles and I recieved updates throughout the day. Thanks for taking her on short notice, would love you to sit for her again.”

Jake was absolutely wonderful with my kitten, Haru! Haru stayed with him for four days, and Jake kept me regularly updated, which gave me great peace of mind. He was so kind, caring, and gentle, and it was clear that Haru was very happy and comfortable staying with him. When I picked Haru up, he was relaxed and happy, which really showed how well he had been looked after. I really appreciated Jake’s kindness and the care he gave Haru. I would happily trust Jake with Haru again and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and reliable cat sitter!

Beckie was absolutely wonderful! She looked after Lily for over two weeks and we felt completely at ease knowing she was in such good hands. We received lovely updates and the sweetest photos every day, which we really appreciated. Lily clearly had such a great time and seemed so happy and comfortable staying with Beckie. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!

This was the first time we’ve left our dog and Alex couldn’t have been more reassuring, he always kept us updated with lots of videos, photos and text messages. We were instantly impressed by how great he was. Would highly recommend and huge thanks to Alex, it’s obvious how much he loves dogs and treated our one just as his own.

Nunzia is amazing! She took care of our dog Luna while we were away on holiday. After we initially made the booking Luna had to have some unexpected extra dental surgery done and Nunzia took great care of her during her recovery including taking her back for post op checks. She was the best person who could possibly have looked after her. Luna will miss her a lot ❤️

We got in touch with Jo when our dog care fell through last minute. She was super responsive and happy to look after our two dogs, Bobbie, and our old girl Mabel. Our dogs had a lovely stay and seemed to love being with Jo’s own three doggies. Jo was really quick to respond, sent lots of proactive updates to us with pics and is generally lovely. She even accommodated an extra night after our travel plans changed. Huge thank you to Jo ❤️

Highly recommend Harriet. She was able to help us out at the last minute and had Baxter for an overnight visit. Communication was great and we received regular updates and photos until Baxter was asleep. He seemed very happy the next morning to the point where he tried to lead me back to Harriet’s door when we left!

Henry had the best time at Maria’s. He played the whole time with her dog Lorca and has come home very sleepy. They were super cute together. And maria is very lovely. It’s my first time using her and I would highly recommend her. She kept me updated with videos and always responded quickly. Thank you!

Bambi had the loveliest time with Luke! He was gentle and sensitive to her shy, anxious nature, and we could see that she was very comfortable with him quickly. He sent us loads of updates through the day (which we always LOVE!) and sent a full update at the end of the day sharing everything they did & how she's doing. This really helped set our minds at ease & we loved to see that she's enjoying herself! Will definitely work with Luke again! 🙌🐾❤️

Nicola was wonderful with Leia. She was incredibly kind and agreed to help me out at very short notice, even though she’d only just got back from holiday that day. She kept me updated during Leia’s stay, and it was obvious from the photos and when I collected her that Leia had been very happy and well looked after. I’d happily leave Leia with Nicola again and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter.

Andra was so wonderful with our huge, neurotic weimaraner (Goose) - she took excellent care of him and managed to get him to settle, no small feat! We travelled down to Brighton from Manchester and there were some delays along the way - Andra was so flexible and accommodating, and just took all of the stress out of the day. All throughout the stay Andra sent us photos and videos of what they were up to, including some amazing beach walks. We cannot thank you enough Andra!

Gonzo had a great time with Iona and Swan. I was pretty nervous leaving him for the night as he has issues with his back, but I need't have worried, as he was looked after well and got his medication without fuss. He settled nicely and was even a little grumpy when I woke him from a nap to take him home! Thanks again :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
