“First time using Jade and I’ll definitely use Jade again! She made sure to keep me updated with how Winnie was getting on and send me loads of photos which made my heart melt, Winnie had the bestest day to the point where she didn’t even want to get back in the car! Jade looks after your pup like she’s her own and it’s amazing to have that when it’s needed!”

“Megan looked after our 2 year old Lab while we were away. She was well cared for, and it was lovely to come home to a happy dog. Megan kept us updated during the stay, which we appreciated. Thank you for looking after her.”

“Kate looked after Morpheus for a few days while we were on holiday. She kept me updated everyday and sent me some pictures and videos as well. She made me feel at ease leaving Morpheus with them.”

“Meisha was absolutely brilliant! She booked a meet and greet for us, and her and Freddy hit it off from the start. We fully trusted Meisha, and Freddy felt so at home there - he even got to visit her family which was super sweet, a real “one of the family” feeling. She went above and beyond to make Freddy comfortable and stick to his usual routines, and knew everything about him (we really appreciated it and knew he was in safe hands). We’ll definitely book Meisha again - can’t thank her enough! x”

“Our labradoodle was well looked after. We left him for a period of 2 weeks . Daily updates and photographs were provided sent for us to be reassured that our dog was in good hands. Regular walks and food were provided. He seemed happy overall I have rebooked with them again.”

“Can’t thank Charlotte enough for looking after my fur baby! I received regular updates through the weekend letting me know what they’d been up to. She took time listening to my dogs routine and that put my mind at ease. My dog has had a really wonderful weekend and I can’t thank you enough. 100% recommend!”

“Hayley was an absolute star looking after our Freddie! She was easily contactable & flexible when making arrangements. Freddie loved his stay & was suitably tired when we picked him up!”

“Thank you so much for taking Juniper at quite short notice, we really appreciate the chance she had to get acquainted with the cat, thank you for your patience! We'll definitely be in contact again in the future. Thank you!”

“Ebru is amazing! So caring and experienced with cats. She communicated with me throughout, sent pics, and even asked how they were after o collected them, as one has car sickness. Highly recommended!”

About: I've been a dog owner for over 15 years and have done Rover in the past. I'm a relaxed dog sitter that understands dog behaviour and I would never use any form of punishment training. Your dog will be looked after like they are my own with care and kindness. I work mainly from home but have a routine with my own large rescue dog that is usually first thing in the morning and around 4-5pm. I can offer regular walks around these times, some doggy day care (Ollie loves having friends to play with!) and also occasional dog boarding. I do sometimes leave the house for work for around 4 hours so boarding will need to be arranged upfront and for dogs that are ok to be left for a while. I have a secure garden at home and a van that I can collect your dog in to take on walks - we usually go for an hour to the woods or moors and Ollie loves company!
“Jack looked after my German Shepherd for one night and provided excellent care throughout. He kept me updated, made sure my dog was comfortable, and was reliable and easy to communicate with. I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in good hands. I would happily book with Jack again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog boarder. Thank you for your little ones drawing, I've popped it on my fridge.”

“Jasper would have gone to my daughter's wedding and created havoc no doubt if the venue had allowed it - but they didn't, so the next best thing was a protest vote and go one better - a night in with Patrycja and her partner watching Netflix. And he got so much more than he bargained for. Lots of attention (what self respecting velcro dog wouldn't love that?), a new BFF as she had another furry friend staying over, and lots of walks with photos to dad thrown in. Honestly Patrycja, he couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you for looking after him and a loving lick from a very tired Jasper.”

About: Lifelong dog lover! ❤️ Growing up I had 5 large dogs, from German Shepherds to Great Danes, so I’m confident with big, strong, energetic breeds. I’ve pet sat for everything in between - from bouncy puppies to fully grown adults, so all breeds and sizes are welcome! I have my own sweet little Whippet called Minnie who would LOVE a friend to play with. I have a large, secure garden for safe playtime, I drive so I can do pick-ups / drop-offs and adventure walks, and I’m right next to big parks for lots of walks and sniffing! Your pup will be treated like family in a loving, active home. Use this link to get £30 off your first booking with Rover: https://www.rover.com/sit/gemmar24587 My husband works late shift work and I am free all afternoons, evenings and weekends. We usually do two big walks a day being very close to Allestree park so lots of space. I have a fully fenced garden and live in a two storey, two bedroomed house. We are a very respectful quiet couple with no kids. Your dog will be our number one focus and priority. Our little Whippet, Minnie, has run of the house and usually sleeps on the sofa. We are a very relaxed household and ensuring this is your dogs home away from home is our main goal
“Sheena took great care of my dog over the New year and I couldn’t be more happy. She was brilliant communicator keeping me informed with loads of photos and texts. She followed his routine and even did extra walks. Charlie was very happy when I picked him up. I would be happy to recommend her and will be using her again. Thanks Sheena”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences – Amber Valley
Heather and family were wonderful when looking after Joni and Lola. The were attentive and professional, and we could also see, and appreciate, the care they took and the fact that they found them amusing (always nice when someone thinks your dogs are funny just as you do). We also really marvelled at Heather’s calm approach to looking after our dogs — such a tonic if you’re a bit worried. The family seem used to looking after all types of dogs, with all different temperaments, and this instils a real sense of trust and confidence. The dogs seemed happy and calm after their visit, so this was a real endorsement for Heather and family as far as we were concerned. So much thanks to Heather!

We couldn't have been happier with the care Bluey received during his week-long stay. As this was the first time our Labrador had been away from us for such an extended period, we were naturally a little anxious, but those worries quickly disappeared. We received regular updates, photos, and messages throughout the week, which gave us so much reassurance and allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our time away. It was clear from every update that Bluey was happy, well cared for, and getting plenty of attention and affection. The communication was excellent from start to finish, and we always felt completely at ease knowing Bluey was in such capable hands. We returned home to a happy, healthy dog, and we're incredibly grateful for the love and care he received. We would absolutely recommend this sitter to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable, and we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again in the future. Thank you for making Bluey's first week away from home such a positive experience!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
