“Oscar had another lovely stay with Paula and John. He is relaxed in their house, which is now his second home. He was excited to see us on collection, but wouldn't leave without giving Paula another hug! It's so comforting knowing he's in such good hands whilst we are away, thank you xx”

“Charlie had a great bank holiday weekend with Tessa - drop off and pick up was easy, I got updates and photos with how he was doing and he was super happy when I picked him up. Tessa was responsive to messages quickly. Thanks again!!”

“Colin the crazy Frenchie had a great time, we knew from our meet and greet he would be in safe hands and we had updates throughout the week of his stay. Will not hesitate to book again and recommend Sam, 5 stars from Colin and us - thank you”

“Hayley was an absolute star looking after our Freddie! She was easily contactable & flexible when making arrangements. Freddie loved his stay & was suitably tired when we picked him up!”

“Freddie had the perfect stay. It’s always worrying when using someone new but Samantha and her husband was so friendly and asked lots of questions about Freddie which was reassuring that they were making sure they knew things about Freddie to make his stay perfect. The updates were also very much appreciated. The resident dog, Eddie was perfect for Freddie and gave him space. Hopefully Freddie will become a regular visitor as will not hesitate to use Samatha again.”

About: **I have hands-on experience with dogs, cats and other small pets through dog grooming, pet retail, animal welfare support, and personal pet ownership. I currently share my home with two friendly dogs and two cats, and I regularly care for friends' pets. I'm confident handling pets with a wide range of personalities and needs and I take a calm, patient approach to help them feel safe, comfortable, and secure.** **My experience includes helping to rehome animals, supporting local welfare initiatives, and working alongside a veterinary practice on animal welfare and community education projects. I'm DBS checked, trained in pet first aid through professional grooming courses, and committed to providing the same level of care and attention I'd want for my own pets.** **As a qualified dog groomer, I can also offer puppy introduction sessions, bath-and-tidy appointments, and full grooms during your dog's stay. Grooming sessions are tailored to each dog and carried out at a relaxed pace, with plenty of breaks and positive reinforcement to keep the experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.** **To provide the best experience for every guest, I only accept small dogs who are friendly with cats and comfortable in a home environment. My goal is to create a true home-from-home where dogs can relax, play, enjoy companionship, and feel part of the family while you're away. Whether your dog loves adventures, playtime, cuddles on the sofa, or simply a quiet place to unwind, they'll receive plenty of individual attention, affection, and care.** **I want every dog who stays with me to be excited to come back—a place where they can have fun, feel safe, and enjoy their own little holiday while you enjoy yours. We are lucky to have great walks on our doorstep and are frequent visitors of secure doggy parks nearby so no dogs will be bored here!** I work from home, so I'm here throughout the day. Pets staying with us become part of our daily life, rather than being left alone for long periods. Walks, playtime, cuddles, rest breaks, and any grooming appointments can be tailored around each dog’s individual needs and routine. I live with two small, friendly dogs and two cats in a home with secure, fenced front and back gardens, with a gate between them for flexibility. The house is at the end of a private driveway, with no streets directly outside, and fields nearby with plenty of wildlife to observe. I only accept small dogs who are comfortable around cats and enjoy a home environment. I want dogs staying with me to feel as though they’re on holiday rather than in kennels. I can quickly separate dogs if needed, keep pets separate for meals or rest time, and follow any routines or instructions owners provide. Having worked with many different animals, including nervous and rescue pets, I’m happy to go at their pace and help them settle in comfortably.
“Albert enjoyed his stay with Jo, she was welcoming and he settled in straight away. I received regular updates and felt at ease knowing he was secure and happy during his short stay! 🐾”

“Chris and Venetia are wonderful doggy hosts. They were very accommodating and my two frenchies were in great, safe hands whilst we were away. Excellent photo skills too. Thanks so much both, we'll definitely be back.”

“We couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters for Hazel. From the moment we left her, we felt completely at ease knowing she was in such caring, loving, and capable hands. Hazel was clearly happy, relaxed, and well looked after during her three-night stay, which says everything. We received great updates and could tell she was treated like part of the family. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of her — we wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend you to anyone looking for truly caring dog sitters.”

“Eevee had a great time as always!! Rachel is so accommodating and super transparent which is really important to build trust. Eevee can't wait to go back in a couple of weeks for a proper holiday!”

“Barney and Lola had a great time with Nicola and her partner, very waggy tails when collected. Nicola had my two terriers at short notice, kept me updated throughout the stay and was conscientious with asking questions about normal routines etc. Will definitely use Nicola again 100/10!”

“Thank you so much for looking after my precious boy. You guys are a lovely, accommodating family who couldn’t have done more for him!! Thank you Charlie for your lovely drawings of your adventures with Pickle. Will definitely give you a message in the future to see if Pickle can come round for another sleepover 🐾 🐩”

“Jerry and Jess were absolutely amazing with our dachshund Chip, they sent us photos and videos of how his boarding was going and to let us know he’s happy. They even set up a little area for him by the window with pillows in the sunshine to let him relax. Will definitely book with them again x”

“Wonderful couple, very welcoming and reassuring. Felt totally comfortable leaving my dog with them and there was never any doubt whilst in their care with regular updates and photos. No hesitation using them again ☺️”

“Bramley our golden retriever had a great stay with Helen and her family. He was worn out when he got home which just shows the fun he has had during his stay. It has been good for him to socialise with other dogs and confirms for us this was a much better option than kennels. Helen kept us well informed about how he was getting on, drop off and pick up was easy too and we felt confident in the care Bramley would receive. From enquiry through to Bramleys stay communication has been excellent and without a doubt Bramley is looking forward to his next visit - we just need to book another holiday!”

“Our frenchie Dora had a brilliant stay with Laura and her family. We felt very comfortable leaving her and received lots of lovely photos during her stay. Would most definitely recommend to family and friends!”

About: I've grown up with cats, dogs and other pets - I truly love all animals and will take the best care of your fur-baby. I have worked with rescue, feral and shelter pets before, and I have taken part in dog agility classes and basic dog training. I am happy to wash/bathe/groom your pooch if required, same goes for cats. I work from home during week days, so I will be on-hand for your pets care, needs and attentions day and night! My work is flexible, so I can start and stop as needed, meaning I can provide them with their required attention - whether that's playing, fussing, or giving them space to chillax and snooze. I have a fenced garden, a small secure catio for cats and live with my friendly house cat Binx who is my fur baby; he loves to play, but if your pet isn't keen on playing then Binx picks-up the cues and will take himself somewhere out of the way. I understand separation can be hard on your fur baby, so I will try and make them feel as safe, loved and tended to as possible. I am used to being woken in the night by Binx, who sometimes panics and starts meowing for me - so I understand there may be some reassuring and extra attention required.

Jodie is a very kind person with dog lover attitude. My dog, Jacko and her sweet doggy got well along. Jacko absolutely looked happy after I picked him up. That tells me that my dog enjoyed spending time with Jodie and her dog. Thank you for looking after and taking care of Jacko 🐾🐶💙

Tessa and her two pooches were amazing! Tessa had a beautiful long garden for the dogs to play in, along with a paddling pool in the summer and lots of toys. Minnie doesn’t do well in kennels and knowing that she had her home comforts while we were away allowed us to fully relax on holiday. Tessa also sent me daily videos and pictures which was lovely to see as a little check in. We will be back 😊

Jerry and Jess were absolutely amazing with our dachshund Chip, they sent us photos and videos of how his boarding was going and to let us know he’s happy. They even set up a little area for him by the window with pillows in the sunshine to let him relax. Will definitely book with them again x

This was the first time I've had a dog sitter stay at my house so I was a bit anxious, but Holly made me feel very comfortable about it and it was great to receive picture updates throughout the evening. I came home to a very relaxed and happy dog and would definitely book Holly again!

Emily was great with Henry, gave him lots of cuddles and attention. Communication was good before and during his stay and we got lots of lovely photos and updates. She took him on plenty of walks and he came home happy and tired. We would definitely recommend Emily.

Libby is a very nice person. Always respond very quickly. My Lucy looks very satisfied with her according to the pictures. I'm very happy that Libby will take care of my Lucy also next weekend. Definitely recommended for everyone who needs to take care of your pets in Derby !!!!!!

Emily & Sam were the perfect match for our pooch. He was treated like one of their own and spoilt. We were asked about his needs & wants on the meet and greet and made to feel welcome. Emily kept in contact right through until we collected him. It was my first time using this service but Emily made it completely stress free. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy ❤️

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
