“Hannah & Teddy, Looked after our fur babies for 3 days. Everything ran smoothly. They care for them like their own loved pets. Infact, neither dog appeared to want to come home! Will be in touch again next time we need a dog sitter. thanks very much”

“Having a business function 5 hours from home and needing to find suitable care for our needy French Bulldog was potentially stressful. So glad we found Cathryn and her wonderfully calming approach. She (and her husband) were super accommodating, communicative, helpful, reassuring. Instantly connecting with Merlin when we dropped him off, and sending photos and messages throughout the evening to reassure. When we are in Staffs again and need repeat care, we will be 100% returning to Cathryn. Highly recommended!!”

About: I've grown up with cats, dogs and other pets - I truly love all animals and will take the best care of your fur-baby. I have worked with rescue, feral and shelter pets before, and I have taken part in dog agility classes and basic dog training. I am happy to wash/bathe/groom your pooch if required, same goes for cats. I work from home during week days, so I will be on-hand for your pets care, needs and attentions day and night! My work is flexible, so I can start and stop as needed, meaning I can provide them with their required attention - whether that's playing, fussing, or giving them space to chillax and snooze. I have a fenced garden, a small secure catio for cats and live with my friendly house cat Binx who is my fur baby; he loves to play, but if your pet isn't keen on playing then Binx picks-up the cues and will take himself somewhere out of the way. I understand separation can be hard on your fur baby, so I will try and make them feel as safe, loved and tended to as possible. I am used to being woken in the night by Binx, who sometimes panics and starts meowing for me - so I understand there may be some reassuring and extra attention required.
“Upon meeting for the 1st time Droskyn was happy and content. During his stay we received regular pupdates and photographs and was reassured that Droskyn was well . He had plenty of exercise and play and we were 100% happy with the care he received. I would definitely recommend Linda and Rob if your looking for Homeboarding for your dog. Thankyou so much to you both .”

“Fergus had the best stay!! Venetia and Chris were lovely hosts for Fergus, very accommodating and love the company of dogs. Fergus has lovely long walks, played fetch and chilled in front of the fire. Will definitely be using them again in the future!”

“Fantastic dog sitting service from Lisa, Jeff was well looked after and it is clear he enjoyed his time. I got regular updates and photos which helped feel at ease. I would highly recommend Lisa and most certainly be using her dog sitting service again.”

“Molly and her family did a wonderful job looking after our Rocky, daily updates on how he’s doing with photos and videos were all received with pure joy. Will continue to use molly in the future for all of Rocky’s future staycations”

“Freddie had the perfect stay. It’s always worrying when using someone new but Samantha and her husband was so friendly and asked lots of questions about Freddie which was reassuring that they were making sure they knew things about Freddie to make his stay perfect. The updates were also very much appreciated. The resident dog, Eddie was perfect for Freddie and gave him space. Hopefully Freddie will become a regular visitor as will not hesitate to use Samatha again.”

About: In our family, we are always the ones that our relatives call on to look after their pets when they go on holiday 😊 Mainly because they get spoilt rotten! We always make sure they feel like part of the family and we love having them as much as they enjoy being with us ❤️ I work in a school Monday to Thursday and my husband has one day off in the week. I also have all the school holidays free. We have a large fenced garden and have a wonderful park nearby for lots of walks. We also have two reception rooms so are happy for your fur baby to sleep in luxury in their own room 😀
“Heather and her lovely family took wonderful care of Oreo whilst we were away, Oreo was relatively new to my family and has some challenges that we were still discovering, because of this I wanted to ensure we were open and honest about how he might be, nothing was an issues for Heather and due to her experience with her own animals and how caring and understanding she came across it was the best decision we made! We received photos of Oreo's exploring and playing and to be honest I don't think he wanted to leave when we came to pick him up! Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease and taking such wonderful care of Oreo! I would 100% recommend!!”

About: Welcome to The Home and The Hound - luxury, home-from-home dog boarding in a warm family environment. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something that comes very naturally to me. Over the years, I’ve gained lots of hands-on experience with pets of different breeds, ages, temperaments and needs, including through fostering for local charities. Growing up I have always had family pets - both cats and dogs and until a couple of years ago, had our own lovely dog, Bella. All this has given me valuable experience with everything from playful, energetic pups to more nervous dogs who need extra patience, reassurance and a gentle approach. I understand how important it is to feel completely confident when leaving your dog in someone else’s care… My aim is to provide a calm, loving and reliable home where your dog will be treated like one of the family, with plenty of comfort, affection, playtime, countryside walks and one-to-one attention. Every dog is different, so I always take the time to understand their usual routine, personality, likes, dislikes and any special requirements. Whether your dog loves cuddles on the sofa, quiet companionship, enrichment games or long walks, I’ll do my best to make sure they feel safe, settled and truly at home. Your house rules are our house rules when your pet stays with us. I’m so excited to welcome your pup into our family home. My priority is always to make sure both dogs and owners feel happy, reassured and well cared for from the moment they arrive until the moment they go home. I work from home in Swadlincote, so pet care fits naturally into my daily routine and I’m around throughout the day to give dogs plenty of company, attention and reassurance. Dogs staying with us will be part of our normal family home life, with time for walks, garden breaks, play, rest and cuddles. Whilst I will always remain the sole carer looking after your pets while they stay with us, my husband is a Head of Year at a local secondary school, so during school holidays - often peak boarding times - there is even more time, attention and hands-on help at home. Our two children, who are very ‘pet savvy’ through the experience of us fostering pets for several local charities over the years, also enjoy being part of our gentle, dog-loving family environment. I aim to offer two walks a day of between 20 & 60 minutes, depending on your dog’s usual routine, age, energy levels and preferences. We also love visiting secure dog fields for safe, enriching walks and playtime. Meals times will follow your home routine and requests. Your house rules are our house rules when your pet stays with us I offer a safe, calm and loving home-from-home environment with no pets of my own. For this year, I’ll only be boarding one dog, or one household of dogs, at a time, so your dog will receive dedicated one-to-one care and personalised attention throughout their stay. Dogs will always be supervised when using our fully secure, fenced garden, and I will follow your guidance closely around feeding, walks, sleeping arrangements, routines, training cues and any special requirements. I understand how important it is to feel reassured when leaving your dog, so I’ll do everything I can to help them feel safe, settled and loved. Your dog will be welcomed into our family home and cared for with patience, kindness and consistency, just as I would want for my own, and you will be provided with regular photo and video updates throughout their stay with us.

About: I’ve been around dogs for many years and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pet. I have always had 1 or 2 dogs in my life since I was born. Currently my partner Angela and I have our own friendly 3 year old Labrador, Bailey, who is a much-loved member of our family and enjoys two walks a day, plenty of playtime and lots of affection. As a family, we provide a calm, loving home where dogs are treated like one of our own. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine and needs, so I’ll always take the time to get to know them and follow their normal schedule as closely as possible. Whether they enjoy long walks, shorter strolls, lots of play or simply relaxing with company, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them happiest. I work a few hours each morning from home completing administrative work in my role as a manager of a children’s home, which means I’m around to provide plenty of attention and care throughout the day. We have a secure, fully fenced garden where your dog will have regular access for toilet breaks, playtime and fresh air. Our own Labrador, Bailey, enjoys two walks each day, and we’re happy to tailor walks to suit your dog’s usual routine and exercise needs. Our two teenage sons love helping with walks, but they are always accompanied by either myself or my partner. Occasionally, we may take dogs to a secure enclosed dog field so they can safely burn off some extra energy. If this is something you’re happy for your dog to do, we’ll discuss it with you beforehand, including how comfortable they are travelling in the car. We also have a cat, but she prefers to keep herself to herself and stays in the conservatory, away from any visiting dogs, so they won’t need to interact. To keep dogs happy and entertained, we have plenty of toys, enrichment activities and even a dog paddling pool for warmer days. We also have a large crate available if your dog is crate trained, so there’s no need to bring your own. If your dog doesn’t use a crate, we’ll happily follow their usual sleeping and daily routine to help them feel safe, settled and right at home. Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are my highest priorities. I know how important it is to leave your pet with someone you trust, so I’ll care for them as if they were one of my own. Our home has a secure, fully fenced garden where dogs can safely play and explore under supervision. Inside, they’ll have a comfortable, relaxed family environment with plenty of company, affection and opportunities to rest. Before every stay, I’ll take the time to get to know your dog’s routine, personality and any specific needs, including feeding, medication, exercise and sleeping arrangements. I’ll follow their usual routine as closely as possible to help them feel settled and at home. I’ll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your dog is safe, happy and well cared for.
“Perfect sitters. This is the 2nd time Floki has stayed with hio man and we are very happy. Always keep us updated with photos and how he’s doing. We would not hesitate to send Floki back when we need to. Thank you both 💚”

“It was my first time using the app and I couldn’t be happier. I had lots of updates and was able to relax and felt they were really having the best time. Elizabeth and family welcomed my goblins and were perfect.”

“Charlie had a great bank holiday weekend with Tessa - drop off and pick up was easy, I got updates and photos with how he was doing and he was super happy when I picked him up. Tessa was responsive to messages quickly. Thanks again!!”

“⸻ We had a fantastic experience with Charlotte, she took excellent care of our dog while we were away, providing regular updates, photos, and lots of love and attention. It was clear our pup was happy, safe, and comfortable the entire time. She was reliable, communicative. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!”

“I could not recommend Dina and her little dog Daisy enough ☺️ We did a meet and greet prior to my holiday just to make sure the dogs would get on ok. I knew there would be no issues and was more than happy for my dog to be looked after by Dina. Dina kept me updated with photos throughout the week and I could tell my dog was having a lovely time and was very happy with her surroundings. My dog is 15 so can have days where she’s a little more tired than others but everything was accommodated. A perfect little holiday for my pooch ☺️ 🐾”

“I was struggling for dog care as my original dog care had cancelled on me last minute. I contacted jade and she was very quick and efficient on getting Rodney booked in and was happy to rearrange her days to accommodate Rodney for the 4 nights. I was anxious at first leaving Rodney with someone I hadn’t before but Jade was so good and reassuring right from the off and within 5 minutes of introducing Jade to Rodney I felt so reassured. She listened and made a list of everything me and Rodney do and his needs and wants. She sent me so many photos and videos every day and updated me even when I didn’t ask which was amazing so I could go away enjoy myself and knew Rodney was being well cared for. I collected Rodney and he didn’t want to leave when I came to collect him which is a reflection of the amazing care and fuss he had received. It was like Rodney was Jades own dog and she said how she loved having him. Going forward I will be definitely using Jades dog care service again and I’m sure Rodney will be excited at the thought of this as well. Keep up the good work jade from me and my Rods and thank you so much again ❤️!”

I am a returning customer and now Charlotte is Beni's fairy Godmother 🥰🐾, helping me out when I need to be whole day out. Beni truly loves to stay with Charlotte, doesn't stress when I leave and I pick my puppy content and relaxed, with plenty of pictures to enjoy about their day. I cannot recommend Charlotte more for care of your beloved pet when you need.

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
