Marley had a wonderful Christmas with Heather and family. They treated him better than he would be at home and I couldn’t have left him in better hands! Thanks so much.

Venus was very well looked after and cannot fault the care that she received. From thr meet and greet to her week stay with Rafal and Maggie was brilliant. They were able to accommodate Venus's diet and the need for frequent walks. We received regular updates (photos and videos) and were completely reassured that Venus was well looked after so that we could enjoy our holiday with peace of mind. We would highly recommend Rafal and Maggie as sitters and will definitely be using their services again. We cannot thank you enough and seems our doggy 'V' and their little girl who's nickname is also 'V' became besties aswell. Thank you for making it such a positive experience.

We couldn’t be any happier how Dudley was very well taken care of and in very safe hands with Hayley. We had constant updates and photos of how Dudley was getting on throughout his weeks stay. Multiple daily walks, lots of love and attention along with plenty of belly rubs ….Dudley had a great time! Would thoroughly recommend Hayley as we fully trust her expertise and service. Our first time and now we feel 100% secure to use again for future visits!

This was Zola’s second time staying with Nigel and his wife, Zola couldn’t wait to get in the door. Tail wagging and clearly excited to be spending time with this lovely couple, who clearly love dogs. The whole 9 days she was in their company, I knew she was being well looked after. Photos and videos sent of their daily adventures on long walks, cuddles and play time. I’ve already booked her in for our next trip away. Thank you again and I’m so happy I’ve found you guys!

About: Animals have always been at the very heart of my life. From the age of four, I grew up owning and riding horses, developing not only a love for them but also a deep understanding of their care and companionship. Collies have also been my loyal family pets for as long as I can remember, and they continue to play an important role in my adult life. Alongside my full-time job, I dedicate my time to working on a dairy farm, where I’m hands-on with livestock and experience the rewarding challenges of farm life. With formal qualifications in Animal Care and Management, I’ve combined my lifelong passion with professional knowledge, allowing me to provide the best care and understanding for every animal I meet. As I work from home 2 days a week I’m keen to open my home up to other four legged friends who would be happy with my 3 dogs. Drop ins that are local are welcome also. I currently own my own home and have a large enclosed garden which backs on to open fields complete with 5 ft fences so fully secure for all dogs.

I was struggling for dog care as my original dog care had cancelled on me last minute. I contacted jade and she was very quick and efficient on getting Rodney booked in and was happy to rearrange her days to accommodate Rodney for the 4 nights. I was anxious at first leaving Rodney with someone I hadn’t before but Jade was so good and reassuring right from the off and within 5 minutes of introducing Jade to Rodney I felt so reassured. She listened and made a list of everything me and Rodney do and his needs and wants. She sent me so many photos and videos every day and updated me even when I didn’t ask which was amazing so I could go away enjoy myself and knew Rodney was being well cared for. I collected Rodney and he didn’t want to leave when I came to collect him which is a reflection of the amazing care and fuss he had received. It was like Rodney was Jades own dog and she said how she loved having him. Going forward I will be definitely using Jades dog care service again and I’m sure Rodney will be excited at the thought of this as well. Keep up the good work jade from me and my Rods and thank you so much again ❤️!

Thank you for taking such good care of Penny — she means the world to us. Seeing her relaxed and well cared for allowed us to enjoy our family’s wedding without the usual worries and stress. This was our first time using the service, and we're thrilled to have found Felicity. Our dog is older and I’m a bit of a worrier, but Felicity kept us updated throughout the weekend. When our dog came home, she was rested and relaxed. It was a fantastic first experience with Rover, and we would gladly book with Felicity again. 110/100

Leanne and her family welcomed William with open arms. They are very dog centred and focused, allowing your dog to adjust well. William enjoyed his stay so much he didn’t want to leave. The regular updates were a real treat as I’d never previously used a dog sitting service. I would recommend Leanne to anyone looking for their dog to have a wonderful homely experience 🐶🥰

Pip and Winnie had a lovely stay with Ewa and her girls. Would recommend 👌 exceptional service. Went above and beyond to give my girls the best stay. Kept me informed throughout their stay. Unfortunately Pip had a hot spot, but Ewa took her to the Vets, to get treatment. Cant thank her enough. Which put my mind at rest, while I was away. I will be booking again, for any further holiday. As I know my girls will be looked after as a family pet. Thanks 😊

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Leaving our rescue dog, George, for a whole week was a big step, especially as we’d only had him for four and a half months. From the moment we dropped him off, we knew he was in the best hands. Melissa took such wonderful care of George and kept us updated every single day with lots of photos and videos, which really reassured us that he was happy, settled and having a great time. It made such a difference while we were away. We came home to a relaxed, happy dog, and it’s clear he was treated with so much love and care. We honestly couldn’t recommend her highly enough and wouldn’t hesitate to leave George with her again the next time we go away. Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of our boy! I’m so glad we found you!

About: I’ve had dogs ever since I was born. I have always grown up with beagles in my house and my grandparents have had Scotties. I have previously volunteered as a dog walker for the RSPCA. My previous dog passed away at the age of 15 and had epilepsy so I have a little experience with senior dogs and medicating. I have an 18 month old unneutered beagle at home who is very sociable. I work from home apart from a Wednesday so your dog won’t be left alone. I work from home apart from Wednesdays so I can take as many bathroom breaks as needed. I walk Sammy once or twice a day depending on his energy levels. Sometimes a short walk in the morning to settle ready for a longer walk in the afternoon after work. I tend to finish around 4:00. I am mostly available on weekends once the ice hockey season finishes. I have 7ft fenced secure garden and my own 18 month old beagle called Sam. I back on to the railway line so I have a good length of grass. He is very sociable and playful. Dogs are allowed on the furniture but must be toilet trained. More than happy to have a meeting prior to bookings.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
