“Wish we could give 10 stars! What can we say about Steve and his care of our precious but super lively bundle of fun? From the moment we contacted Steve, he has been great at communication, we had an initial meeting- within seconds we could tell Steve is a man who loves dogs. The outstanding behaviour of his own dog, Laszlo shows he has great knowledge. When Storm stayed with Steve for a week, we had regular, twice daily updates, photos and videos, and could easily tell the our Storm was content and having a great time. Without any doubt at all we will ask Steve to step in again when we are looking for someone to look after our boy, I have total confidence in him and his family, who all welcomed Storm into their home. Thanks, Steve, it has made all the difference going away feeling confident our boy will be having a great holiday too!”

About: I have been around animals all my life and was lucky enough to grow up with dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and hamsters- to name a few. I am a very loving, relaxed and laidback pet owner and love being around animals. I happily share my sofa and bed with my pets, so if that is something your dog would like, they would feel right at home when staying with me. My dog Oscar is a friendly and playful British bulldog and I also have 2 x 10 year old cats so any dog visiting would have friends to play with. I also have experience looking after puppies as well as older dogs. I work 4 long day a week but am free over the weekends to look after your dog. I generally walk Oscar once a day for an hour but sometimes he gets an additional half hour walk as well so can easily offer this for your dog. I have a large enclosed garden and space in the house to keep any dog separate from Oscar at nighttime if needed. There is also space for a crate if you prefer your dog to sleep in a crate.
“Just picked Nellie up after a weekend with Lewis. Love the home from home environment where she was well cared for and was sent updates and photos of her stay. Would definitely recommend Lewis. Thank you so much for looking after her 🐕😊”

“Tereza was a brilliant host for our dog Rossi. She is super-calm and immediately won over Rossi. She was great with communications and sent loads of photos. 100% recommended!”

“Athinoula has been absolutely brilliant in looking after our mini dachshund whilst we were away for our wedding 💍 we were given constant updates, reassuring us he was having the best time! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a loving family to look after their pooch 😊 thank you so much!”

“Five stars isn't enough for Sotiria! She took care of our dog, Bandit, during the bank holiday, and she was absolutely brilliant. Professional, caring, and Bandit clearly adored her. Kept us well updated and sent lots of cute pictures as well! We're so grateful and will definitely be using her again!”

“A fantastic dog sitter. Kept us in touch with videos, photos and reports. He always looked happy and relaxed. He loved his holiday!! and hopes to see you soon Freddie came back looking happy and clean. All good.. Would highly recommend”

“Julia was absolutely amazing with Safia ❤️ From the very beginning, she was caring, attentive, communicative, and incredibly thoughtful. She kept me updated throughout the stay with detailed messages about walks, food, water, playtime, and how Safia was doing emotionally, which gave me so much peace of mind, and the most thorough report about her day. She even washed and dried Safia’s blanket after a little accident without hesitation, such a kind gesture that truly shows how much she cares! Safia clearly felt comfortable and loved with Julia and her family, and it made me so happy to hear how well she got along with everyone 😊 I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better person. I would trust Julia again without a second thought and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, warm, patient, and genuinely loving with dogs. Thank you again for taking such wonderful care of Safia 🐾”

“We can't praise Victoria enough for the efforts she went to when caring for our 12 year old pup while we had a selfish weekend away. Given her age, Sapphi comes with a few health and dietary needs and we were impressed and relieved to see the special care that Victoria provided to ensure Sapphi had a very relaxed and pleasant stay. We can now approach our main break in September with confidence and we know that Sapphi will have a good time too.”

“Ivana looked after our Jack Russell/Staffy cross Brian for two nights this week, and she (plus her lovely husband and superb assistant Andrew!) were wonderful with him : ) He's not always the easiest dog to get to know as he can be wary of new people, and Ivana and Andrew showed patience, kindness and humour with him (you need humour with Brian at times!) Needless to say by the time we collected him he had made himself right at home! We're very grateful to them both and are already arranging our next holiday! Thanks so much x”

“Aleksandra and her partner did such a wonderful job looking after my 6 month old puppy! I was regularly updated and treated to pictures and videos of all the lovely experiences and interactions they gave him. I would 100% use them again, thank you so much. PS. Their cat is awesome!”

“Bethany really looked after our cockapoo well, he was welcomed into their home and we were kept updated with regular pictures. He looked right at home! 💙. I would definitely trust her to look after him again. Thank you.”

“Want to thank Holly for looking after Tilly for us for a week whilst we went on holiday. Holly took really good care of her and was nice to receive regular updates and photos. Tilly clearly enjoyed her time with Holly (and Missy). Would happily book again with her and recommend to others. Thanks again!”

About: I genuinely treat every pet like family—caring for them with love, patience, and attention to detail. I’m comfortable caring for senior pets, and keeping up with energetic puppies. I take the time to understand each pet’s routine and personality, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. You can count on me for regular updates, photos, and peace of mind! I work as a researcher during the day at the University of Leicester, and since I live on my own, pet sitting is a wonderful way for me to enjoy companionship during the evenings and weekends. I genuinely love spending time with animals—it’s relaxing, rewarding, and brings a sense of balance to my routine. I’m also currently raising funds for a medical mission trip to Uganda, so pet sitting allows me to contribute to a meaningful cause while doing something I truly enjoy. Your pet will be in caring, responsible hands, and you’ll be supporting a good cause too! Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or at the owner’s home, my approach is always the same: make them feel safe, loved, and comfortable. I stick closely to their usual routines for feeding, walks, playtime, and rest to reduce any stress or anxiety. I give each pet plenty of attention and make sure their space is clean and cozy. If I’m in the owner’s home, I treat it with the utmost respect—keeping everything tidy and sending regular updates with photos, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. Their wellbeing is always my top priority.
“Chang had looked after my two cats for a week when my family went abroad. When we went to see her she was very nice and friendly and was open to listen to any specifics about how the cats should be kept or what they eat. Whilst away, she kept me constantly updated and let me knew how the cats were getting along, how much they were/weren’t eating and if there was any litter issues etc. Though my cats hadn’t stayed with others before they seemed very comfortable and she made sure they were constantly well looked after. If I’m ever away for a period of time again, Chang is someone who I would trust to look after them again.”
“I left Sheru with Polly for a month. Unfortunately, our flight was cancelled due to the ongoing county conflict and I couldn’t pick him up after the end of the period. I was really worried about him and didn’t know what to do. I was also concerned about where to leave him as Polly had another appointment. I asked Polly if she could extend the booking and keep Sheru with her. Finally she agreed, we were relieved. She regularly updates me and sends his pictures. I truly appreciate her help and the way she’s taking care of my pet.”

We are so thankful to Faye for looking after our Labrador Hamish. She has been incredibly reliable and treats Hamish as her own with regular walks and attention. Faye sends updates and pictures, which makes our day and goes above and beyond to make sure Hamish is catered for and is happy and tired out! Highly recommended

Excellent, very welcoming and friendly. Dimitra is very helpful, nothing was any trouble for her. Axel only stayed one night as we had a family event but he was very well looked after. Dimitra sent lots of pictures of Axel who’s was very reassuring. I would use Dimitra again .

Sophie has looked after Zelda for us before and we didn't hesitate in asking Sophie to look after her again. Sophie kept us well updated, with lots of great photos, and has cared for Zelda brilliantly - taking her for lots of walks, to a dog park and lots of other great things to do. We wouldn't ask anybody else to care for Zelda now! Thank you.

Ellie did a wonderful job of looking after our anxious border collie, who comes back from kennels with no bark and upset tummy. Dottie had a great time and was so relaxed when we picked her up after 3 nights after being welcomed into Ellie’s home. All needs were met and met well -especially as there were fireworks every single day. Ellie’s own dog is also a joy, and welcoming to other dogs. Will most definitely ask Ellie to look after our dog again.
Theresa took very good care of our dog Milo, he stayed with her for over a week while we were away on holiday and seemed very happy. She was very accommodating and professional and understood his needs. I would be more than happy to leave Milo in her care in the future.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
