“Ann recently looked after my fur baby Molly. I was so impressed with her care and professionalism throughout. She is a lovely, kind lady and treated her as if she was her own following Mollys routine to enable her to feel safe and loved in the absence of her mum. I would highly recommend her to look after your pet.”

“Chewie had a fantastic stay with Tyson and his humans again. Thank you so much to Meg and Chandra for all the photos and for making Chewie feel so at home. Hope he’ll be back for another holiday at your house soon.”

“2nd time we’ve booked Jackie to watch our 2 French bulldogs. Would highly recommend to anyone, especially if feeling anxious about leaving your dogs. We were kept up to date with plenty of pictures, making our holiday much more relaxing and enjoyable, knowing that they were both being looked after and safe.”

“Valle our greyhound stayed for the weekend with Sharon & her lovely family again. Sharon updated me with photos & messages during his stay. I had absolutely no worries, as I knew he was safe, happy & cared for. He had a fabulous weekend & was certainly in no rush to leave!! Valle will definitely be back again. Thank you Sharon for taking such great care of our boy”

“Astrid made our dog, Snoopy feel very at home - going the extra mile on his birthday with special birthday cookies and a little pressie! You treated Snoopy like he’s your own and he loved every second with you. Thank you very much!”

“Ozzy seemed to enjoy himself. Communication was easy with messages sent with photos of Ozzys outings and activities. Carole met us before the visit to see if it was a suitable match for both parties and it worked out great for us. “We could not have chosen a better place to board Duchess for our trip, or kinder, more caring and competent people to look after her. She had a great time, lovely walks, and we received many updates and photos. We are thrilled to have found such a wonderful home from home for Duchess and we will definitely book again.”

“Chewie loved his stay with Katie. It was clear Katie was very confident with him, and he immediately seemed chilled and at home. Katie was great with communication before and during Chewie’s stay and we will definitely look to use her for dog-sitting again. Thank you 😊”

“Hannah was good with Molly🐾, who is anxious and excitable. Her dog, Hunter, was a gentleman with her. Yesterday was a trial run for them all and I hope Hannah will have Molly🐾 again because having someone calm and competent as a sitter is a great support.”

“I had such a great experience with Julia as my dog sitter! She took wonderful care of my mini dachshund overnight and treated him as if he were her own. Julia is very detailed and attentive, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my pup was in good hands. I also really appreciated her flexibility — being able to pick up my dog as early as 8am was a huge help for my schedule. I would definitely recommend Julia to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter, and I’ll be happy to book with her again!”

“As first time boarders we were nervous trusting our ageing boxer to anyone. Eve was very reassuring and very understanding of our concerns but we shouldn’t have worried. Our girl had a fab time in a ‘home from home’ environment, following her normal routine and we had updates from Eve to reassure us too. Highly recommend.”

“Maria service was excellent! Our dog Bartolo had a blast and received lots of love from her. He certainly enjoyed his stay. Maria sent us lots of pictures and we were very happy to see how good he was being taken care of. We would definitely be using her service again and would highly recommend her!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Rugby
We were very happy leaving Chewie with Natalia while we went away. Natalia is clearly an experienced dog owner and was calm and professional and her own dog, Narla, was lovely. We received a perfect amount of updates while we were away and Chewie was very settled when we returned to collect him (and had clearly enjoyed unlimited belly-rubs!). We would recommend Natalia and hope that Chewie can visit again sometime.

Eri, you’re fantastic. You kept us up to date with our dog, Boomer and made sure he was well looked after, cuddled and loved. Will most definitely be using you again if we ever need him to go and stay somewhere. Thank you so much for taking very good care of him for us. Every day there was constant communication to let me know how he was, how he slept, how he behaved and what he was up to. This was my first time using someone outside of the family and I’m so appreciative of Eri, her Husband and her dog Boo, the little cutie. Honestly, thank you so so much ❤️

Laura was very friendly and communicated from start to finish really well. It was a real help being able to meet Laura before hand as we had never had a dog sitter before. Lola was made to feel welcome at their home and settled in straight away, thank you for making the process so easy Lola had a great time.

Woody and Sushi had a wonderful 10-day with Jessica and Olly - I will be using them again in the future, and highly recommend them. They were incredibly flexible to take them on when my planned sitter failed me a couple of days before my overseas trip. They were quick to respond and arrange a M&G to finalise details. The stay was as if they were heat home, felt very relaxed and loved their stay.

Katie has looked after our dog Oakley for a second time and we couldn't be more grateful to have found a wonderful sitter for him. He is looked after so well and Katie really cares for him so we feel that we can rest easy knowing he is in safe hands. I am certain Oakley absolutely loves staying with Katie and her family and doesn't want to go home at the end of his stay!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in West Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
