“Domhnall has just come home after a trial run with Linda. He’s very unhappy in kennels and howls and cries 24x7. It’s such a relief to know he’s with people who understand and care for him so that he feels secure and happy. My only worry is he might not want to come home 😂”

“Having a business function 5 hours from home and needing to find suitable care for our needy French Bulldog was potentially stressful. So glad we found Cathryn and her wonderfully calming approach. She (and her husband) were super accommodating, communicative, helpful, reassuring. Instantly connecting with Merlin when we dropped him off, and sending photos and messages throughout the evening to reassure. When we are in Staffs again and need repeat care, we will be 100% returning to Cathryn. Highly recommended!!”

“Dina was a fantastic host for Betty our Border Terrier. She and Dina’s dog Daisy got on so well. Betty was obviously very happy in their home. Drop off and pick up were convenient and easy. We would definitely use Dina again”

“Janny took a last minute booking from me a couple of days before when I had been let down for care for my spaniel Charlie. I was kept in the loop during the 2 days she looked after him for me and sent me regular updates reassuring me he was happy and comfortable despite it being his first time staying with them! He loved playing with Rosy and it’s a relief to have this service on my door step for when I need. Would definitely book again, thank you Janny xx”

A very loving family who love dogs and treat them as their own. I would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you so much 😊👍🏼🐶🐾 ⭐”

About: I’ve been caring for animals all my life as I grew up with dogs, cats and ponies. I began my working life in the 1980’s as a veterinary nurse for a few years and then a dairy hand, raising calves in Israel for several years. On my return to England I began free lance yard work at various livery stables and house sitter for large and small animals. As this is my full time employment, all my care and attention will be focused on your pets, so plenty of time for walks and play, depending on your dogs needs. I have a fenced garden and a friendly miniature bull terrier for company. We go on lots of walks and as I have a car, we travel to some lovely woods and country walks. I’ve been house sitting for a few years now so am pretty adept at finding new walks in new areas and navigating a variety of kitchens ( almost more tricky than going out for a walk! ). House sitting allows me to keep the animals of the household in their routine, care for all the pets there and keep an eye on the property itself.
“Fabulous! Roma stayed for 6 nights and was exceptionally well looked after. She had a great time with Betty too. We were kept well informed and received loads of photos. Will definitely be booking again. Thanks so much 😊”

“Claudius had a wonderful holiday with Kimberly and Bear. Kimberly is fantastic and took such good care of Claudius. She is so calm and welcoming Claudius was straight away relaxed in her home. He had a great time with his friend Bear and enjoyed Kimberly's wonderful garden. Kimberly kept me updated with photos and messages throughout the stay. Thank you Kim.”

Willow had an amazing time with Calley, Angela and their family. I received lovely messages and photos of Willow being thoroughly entertained, and could see they knew their stuff in settling in her in and considering her needs over the duration of her stay, paying attention to any small details. She also loved having a doggie friend Bailey there for company and I think she probably missed them all coming home. Thanks to Calley and Angela - Willow takes her new toy with her around the house everyday since leaving her new friends.

Cathryn and family were absolutely fantastic from the get go. They were very attentive to all of our dog's needs and asked all the necessary questions before we left her with them. Ahsoka had such a good time she didn't want to come home at the end of her stay. We'll definitely be asking Cathryn to look after Ahsoka again in the future!

Ella was fantastic with our Oscar. He loved it at hers and came back happy and relaxed. She was able to accommodate his separation anxiety which is always tricky for us. She communicated really well and sent us cute videos of him. Absolutely will be coming back to her for more sitting.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in West Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
