My Pomeranian, Clara, really enjoyed her stay at Hio Man’s house. We got some photos, and he always replied quickly. In the pictures, Clara looked very happy and comfortable, just like at home. Super thanks 🥰

Second time we have left our Milo with Dominika. We are so pleased with the care that the couple and their beautiful dog provided for Milo and the constant updates with photos kept us comfortable that he was Ok. Definitely our first choice for Milo. ✅👌

Nicole was absolutely amazing! I won't be using anyone else from now on (although it's not often we leave our little man behind!), she kept us updated for 5 days on everything Slinky did and gave us loads of photos and videos so I felt safe and relaxed on my trip knowing Slinks was so well loved! Definitely would recommend to anyone.

Michelle and Jason looked after my two Shih Tzus for 9 nights. They treated them like their own dogs. They are so loving with them. I had regular pup dates and photos which reassured me that they were settled. They had a lovely holiday and I’m sure they are missing Michelle and Jason. They are going for another stay in June and it is lovely to know they will be so well looked after. I’m so glad we have found Michelle and Jason and would recommend them without a doubt.

Jenny and Chris are really lovely people and it’s clear to see that they love dogs very much. Our girl Mabel was very happy at their home, had lovely long walks and lots of cuddles. Jenny stayed in touch and sent lots of photos to put our mind at rest that Mabel was happy and contented. I would definitely recommend Jenny and Chris and wouldn’t hesitate to ask them to care for Mabel.

Briana looked after Sweep for 5 nights. My usual sitter was on hols. Sweep is anxious when I leave him but settled really well with Briana and she kept me updated daily with photos to reassure me he was ok. He had a little meltdown the one day but with cuddles and treats Briana got him settled and he was fine the following day. It was very reassuring to know Briana had calmed him and all was well. I was able to enjoy my hols without worry. We will definitely stay with Briana again. Thank you.

About: I’ve always loved dogs and enjoy spending time with them. I have experience looking after dogs of different ages and personalities, and I understand the importance of providing them with a safe, caring, and fun environment. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or simply giving them company and attention, I treat every dog as if they were my own. I’m reliable, patient, and committed to making sure your dog feels happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I currently work part-time and am available for dog walks and daycare on my days off. I’ve always loved dogs and have experience caring for them, ensuring they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while their owners are away. I have a friendly Cockapoo who lives as part of the family and is free to roam throughout the house. My home has a large, secure, fully fenced garden where my dog can safely exercise, play, and go outside regularly. I ensure my pet has access to fresh water, a comfortable resting area, daily exercise, and plenty of attention and care

Our 4 year old Labradoodle, Albert, has just returned from a wonderful stay with Anita. She took him on lovely walks in lots of different places, often including an extra evening stroll near her lovely home. It was immediately clear how happy and well-cared-for he was, he ate really well, received plenty of company and attention, and came home relaxed and content. Anita sent regular updates and photos throughout his stay, which we looked forward to every day. She clearly loves dogs and provides excellent care. We would happily leave Albert with her again in the future and highly recommend her to other dog owners.

We had never left Casper with a dog sitter while we’ve been on holiday so this was the first time and we were quite worried about how he would get on. After the initial meet and greet we had no concerns. Becky kept in contact with regular pictures and videos of Casper so we were put at ease as he seemed perfectly comfortable 😊😊 We would happily book her again, she was also available at short notice so definitely recommend 👍 Thank you Becky!

Phil and Archie took great care of my dachshund dash whilst I was away for the weekend . Speedy responses when communicating and always keeping me updated on how dash was doing during his stay. Do not hesitate when thinking of booking Phil and Archie as these two kept dash busy all weekend showing him love and care throughout his stay and taking him out on long walks and keeping him stimulated. I can’t thank them both enough for the love and care they gave dash and looking after him like he’s there own.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Lichfield on Rover is £32.2 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in West Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
