“Claire was an amazing surrogate mum for my beautiful Evie when I went away. Claire came on time, injected and fed Evie and stayed with her for an hour before removing her food. I was messaged each time Claire came, giving me the times she was here and when she left. Everything was clean and tidy, all the bowls had been washed & the litter trays clean. Claire took pictures of Evie and sent them to me and gave me updates. I would not hesitate to recommend Claire to sit for or care for your pet when you go away. Thank you so much Claire, I am sure I will book you again soon! 🌻”

About: Hello! I’m a responsible and dependable dog owner who truly enjoys caring for dogs of all breeds and personalities. DBS checked for your peace of mind. Whether your pup needs a long walk in the countryside, a shorter local walk, a drop-in visit, or just some company while you’re away, I’ll provide attentive, loving care and ensure they feel comfortable and happy. Your dog will be treated as if they were my own. I work from home with a very flexible schedule and can structure my day to meet your and your pets drop-in or walking needs and requirements. I can drop in to visit your home and provide a little company or play to brighten your pups day or head out for short or longer walks depending on your requirements. At my home we have an enclosed garden with plenty of room to explore with our own friendly Sprocker.
“First time using Abi and Andrew and having arranged a pre-meet, we already felt reassured about them taking care of our boys. Lovely people who truly care for animals and treat them as if they are their own. Our cats had the best care and lots of fuss and play and we'll definitely be booking Abi and Andrew again. Thank you guys.”

“The most professional cat sitter we ever had! She followed our instructions, was very friendly with our little boy and went above and beyond! We really enjoyed our time away without stressing about home or if the cat was okay in our absence. Thank you for your passion. 💕💐”

“Ted absolutely loved Simon, he really put me at ease with our meet and greet and is so nice and down to earth and great with my ted would definitely recommend to anyone to take care of your pet thanks so much!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs of all breeds and sizes for several years, helping friends, family, and neighbours with feeding, walking, and playtime. I’m patient, reliable, and attentive to each pet’s unique needs, whether that’s high-energy exercise or gentle care for older dogs. I’m comfortable with basic training, administering routine care, and making sure pets feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Working from home has its benefits as there’s someone home most of the time . I work from home so I’m able to take dogs in the week and weekends. I’m about most of the week and all day and at weekends we have a couple of clubs on but aren’t out most of the day. We have no dogs, but we have an outdoor cat that isn’t about much and fends for herself and isn’t bothered about dogs. Our garden is fenced off

About: I own 1 dog , Rudy who is 13. Until recently, I owned 2 dogs, however , Bella passed away a few weeks ago aged 12. I’ve always lived with dogs since a child and enjoy having my own dogs at home. My main focus would be dog walking, as I walk long distances each day I have been on maternity leave for the past year, & have recently been made redundant from my job . Which has now given me more flexibility each day to be able to support dog walking needs . I have a friendly dog who could keep your dog company, or can also provide a walking service without him. I will always respect owners wishes , with regards to care, environment of walks, & length of walks. I will always adapt the walk to suit the prefences of the dog & their owner
“We’re grateful to Cathryn for helping out with our cats while we were away. Communication was clear, and everything seemed fine when we returned. However, we did notice the visit lasted around 20 minutes rather than the full 30 minutes we had agreed and paid for, which we would have appreciated being respected. Additionally, we weren’t sure if our full feeding instructions were followed, as we couldn’t find any dry food left out, which made us wonder if the cats only received their wet food. We always aim to give honest feedback to help sitters improve, and we hope this helps for future visits.”

About: I’ve grown up around lots of dogs. My dads always had between two and six so as kid walking 3 white German shepards at a time was a good start. I’ve cared for 3 dogs the last two years walking them everyday, one being elderly and needing extra care. Whenever I’m out or round a friends house if there’s a dog I will be playing with it. I’ve been told and feel I have an affinity with dogs so making this a bigger part of my life would be a dream. Nearly 4 years ago I sold my place to move into a van this has allowed to follow my passion, dogs. I can’t tell you how lucky I feel when I’m out with a dog I get on well with. I feel I can communicate with dogs as many have told me I’m their best friend. Now summer is here I play cricket so Saturday day I will be unavailable. I’ve taken care of a wide range of dogs and understand their different needs. I’ve sat for an XL Bully to my dad’s six King Charles Spaniels. One of the dogs I walk I take for longer than I should but the dog needs it so she gets it. I speak to all dogs and feel that they understand the intent behind your words. I have lots of free time and I’m very punctual.

“Abbie was trustworthy reliable and very informative. My cats were happy to see her when she popped round. They were kept happy healthy and fussed. I would highly recommend her for your pet care! Will definitely be calling upon her again in the future! Thank you!”

About: Animals have always been part of my life, not just something I do on the side. I love walking and spending time outdoors, with easy access to a nearby park and lake, which means walks are never rushed or boring. Every pet gets real attention, fresh air, and care that feels like home. I work full time with flexible office days, have a one-hour lunch break for daytime visits, and am available for walks and care during the day and after work most evenings. I care for pets by keeping their routine as close to normal as possible, whether they’re in my home or their own. I take time to understand each pet’s needs, personality, and preferences from feeding schedules and walks to playtime and quiet time. When caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, comfortable environment with plenty of attention, walks, and downtime. I also have a high, fully fenced back garden with a secure gate, giving pets a safe outdoor space for fresh air and play. Living near a park and lake allows me to tailor walks to each pet’s energy level. Above all, I care for pets patiently and thoughtfully, treating them like they’re part of my own family.
About: I'm 34, live in Newhall and work in the Emergency Services. I'm trustworthy and reliable. I've had dogs and cats all my life (and smaller pets- gerbils, hamsters, fish and rabbits and guinea pigs). My parents and other family have dogs I look after regularly and I look afte the neighbours dog when they're away. Otherwise I've got a peaceful life with 2 cats. Unfortunately don't have the time to have a dog full time so I just borrow everyone else's 🤣 I work from home full Time but long days. Shift work is normally 4 on 4 off so the days I'm free will vary but I do get breaks so if you're not too far from me we can make it work. I'll be sensitive to your and your pets needs. Realistically I can't have any pets here as it'll upset my female cat because she takes some time to get used to other cats and I don't think she'd be keen on a dog staying.

On early shifts I am free most afternoons and evenings, and on late shifts I am available most mornings and early afternoons. This allows me to fit in plenty of time for walks, drop-ins, and giving each pet the attention they deserve. In my home, dogs are treated like part of the family. They always have access to fresh water, comfy spaces to rest, and plenty of supervised playtime. I follow each owner’s routine closely, including feeding times, walks, and any special requirements. Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Derbyshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
