It was the first time we had ever left Rudy overnight with a dog sitter. Grace was amazing and Rudy had the best time, he was really well looked after and I had lots of lovely photos and updates. We will definitely be booking Grace again to look after Rudy 😁

Sheena took great care of my dog over the New year and I couldn’t be more happy. She was brilliant communicator keeping me informed with loads of photos and texts. She followed his routine and even did extra walks. Charlie was very happy when I picked him up. I would be happy to recommend her and will be using her again. Thanks Sheena

Thank you Karolina, I am so happy I chose you to care for Porta's first time away from home. You have shown my little nervous and anxious chihuahua so much kindness, and patience. My son and I really appreciated all the lovely photos and updates you sent throughout Porta's stay with you. I will definitely be leaving Porta in your care again and I also recommend you Karolina to anyone looking for great service for their babies.? Xxx

Patrycja and Hadley were fantastic, they demonstrated just how much they care for dogs by inviting us round so they can meet nelly and make sure they were the right match. Once they were happy, we filled out the boarding forms, got dates and times arranged and we didn't have to worry about anything leading up to the day. Drop off was easy, very welcoming, checked through all our requirements one more time before we left. The updates and pictures we got from each day really helped us relax on holiday, nelly looked right at home and so happy, very picturesque walks each day and cuddles throughout. Couldn't reccomend them enough, and if we ever need dog boarding again I won't bother looking anywhere else.

About: I grew up with dogs and have had dogs almost my entire life. For the past 2 and a halve years I have been fostering dogs for a rescue, but I had to stop because I was required to go back into the office for work. I work from home on Friday and Monday though, so can dog-sit for long weekends I will provide multiple walks a day and make sure your dog(s) get enough play/attention. I work from home on Friday and Monday and the weekends are free. Our day would consists of multiple walks, time to play and cuddles.😁 I have been an experienced foster for rescue dogs, but had to stop because of work requiring me to go back into the office 3 days a week. Carmen and Andrew were extremely good with Milo. They were loving, patient and welcoming. They made him feel at home, letting him sit and sleep everywhere he wanted. They took him to lots of walks and played with him. I can tell he was happy with them and this is the first time he is not with us. Also, we had lots of updates and photos to keep us informed. Thanks so much for everything, this means the world to us. Milo will be back for sure.

Tarnya and her family are amazing, my choccie lab was so happy when I collected her, infact I think she would have been happy to have stayed longer. The love and care they showed during her stay was unconditional, long walks, lots of play and cuddles and regular photo updates. She even had a wash and blow dry during her stay :). A home from home experience, I would 100% revommend and will be using again in the future. Thank you Tarnya and family xx

About: Your dog will be apart of our loving family with lots of cuddles, playtime, walks & treats (if aloud by owner) When we look after your beloved dog we will ensure their needs are put first. Unfortunately, we lost our bulldog Bonnie recently and this has given us the passion and desire to look after other peoples dogs. We always found this difficult and a challenge knowing who to trust with Bonnie and my goal is to help others feel at ease. We as a family have experience being around a variety of breeds including young & old dogs. I currently work full-time in the community, however I work from home majority of the working week. Also, if I am not home my mum is at home as she only works part-time. At the weekends everybody in the house is home. Your dog will not be on their own longer than a couple of hours at a time. I have a private secure back garden where dogs will have access to safely and securely. I will care for your dog as if they were my own. I am honest, trustworthy and have a genuine love & care for animals especially dogs!

We had a pre-board meeting so our dogs could meet, so we could meet, and so my dog could meet Sylvia and it all went well. I received updates, some photographs, which is really valuable when you leave your pet with someone in my opinion, and is reassuring. When I picked him up he seemed happy and well. Pick up and drop offs were mutually agreed, with some leeway for traffic, so from my perspective this was really very successful and positive and I would be happy to repeat.

Gayle & Simon did a wonderful job looking after our Ollie dog during our holiday. Prior to the sitting they responded quickly to messages, were very thoughtful and warm hearted regarding us leaving him for the first time and sent lovely picture updates etc whilst we were away. We felt like he was in a loving home and couldn’t have asked for anything more. Excellent and we will definitely be rebooking with them again. If they will have him! Ha ha! Thank you

This is the first time I’ve left my dogs with people they don’t know so I was really nervous, especially as one of my them was anxious about being left behind. Natalie took such good care of both my lovely dogs and they loved staying with her. I got regular updates about what they were doing and Natalie totally reassured me that they were settling well. Will definitely user Natalie again!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
