Genevieve was so great with our two cats! She was so kind and really went above and beyond to make sure they were cared for. She was also easy to reach, and sent lots of pictures of the cats, which we really appreciated. We would definitely hire her again and recommend her to others!

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all kinds my entire life including my 12 year old Lhasa Apso named Tashi. I’ve also helped walked, trained, dog-sit, and administer medication to the dogs from members of my community for a large part of my life! Additionally, I’ve shadowed at serval veterinary clinics and assisted with taking vitals and providing care for the animals. Growing up I regularly cared for my dog feeding him and walking him two times a day! I even started recently making him food from scratch in order to better suit his nutritional needs and taste preferences. I would happy to assist with pet care in the homes of my clients. I’m currently live in campus at Stanford and this can’t provide housing.

Jess was awesome! We had a change of plans last minute before the Memorial Day weekend and I was able to find Jess the day before we left. We scheduled a meet and greet the day we were leaving to give her the rundown on how to take care of our dog (Bella), 3 guinea pigs, and rabbit. She took it all in and exceeded my expectations as I was expecting a phone call or message about something but I never did. She absolutely took great care of all of our animals!

About: I grew up with dogs and hamsters as a kid, but my love for animals didn’t end there. I raised and trained two dogs from puppies to adult. I volunteered at the SPCA socializing cats. I adopted and raised cats from kitten to adult. I currently have a 15 yr old and two 2.5 yr old cats. I have helped dog sit and cat sit for friends over the years and fostered several litters of dogs and a few cats. I love animals and will ensure yours gets the attention, care and time they deserve. I’m currently a teacher on summer break . I’m traveling for some of June but around in July with low key plans around the area. I’d fit my plans around your fur baby’s needs. I will follow the needs you share of your pets and your expectations , and use my skillset to connect with your animals at the level they are comfortable with.

She went above and beyond providing care for my pets. After a few other lukewarm Rover experiences, I was so happy to find Megan.

About: I’ve had countless pets growing up, as my mom regularly rescues street dogs. We care for them until they get placed in shelters. I’ve been taught to handle all types of dogs from super energetic to calm dogs. I'm currently a senior at Menlo-Atherton High School. I'm always available on weekends. On weekdays I’m available anytime after 3pm, except Thursdays where I’m available anytime after 1pm. I’m very observant of dog’s behavior and try to match their energy, while keeping their environment as stress free as possible. About: I grew up with the sweetest Shih Tzu in the world named Dak (a small computer chip). And I think my style of pet care came from taking care of him. I was attentive and gave him lots of love. He loved driving in the car with me, actually :) I have been pet sitting for friends and on other platforms for over 5 years in their homes. And I took care of a neighbor's bird way back in high school. For the most part I have specialized in cats and small to medium dogs. I also have a calm spirit that many animals are drawn to. So we can chill together for a long time. In addition, I'm responsible and respectful, caring and considerate not only for pets but also for owner's homes. I am able to communicate well and clearly and can problem solve to resolve any situation which might arise. In short, I have the know-how to be able to feed, entertain, clean up after, and love cats and dogs and their living spaces. And I can communicate well to their parents to keep them safe and happy while mom and dads are away. I currently work part-time teaching English online. I also am writing my doctoral dissertation. This means I am home a lot and very happy to spend lots of time with pets, even at my desk with me or curled up on the sofa. I strictly watch pets in their own homes. Firstly, because I am missionary and I've been staying temporarily in my parents house in North Carolina and now here with my brother in Palo Alto. Secondly, because I think pets are much happier if they can stay in their own homes and in familiar surroundings.

About: Over the years I’ve noticed that I can’t think of a single bad experience that I’ve had with cats/dogs. Pretty much every single animal I have crossed paths with has grown comfortable with me if not immediately. I think maybe it’s the way I approach animals, im always talking to them like they’re humans for some reason and it almost seems like they can understand me. And I like to tell myself I can understand them and their silent expressions. This is what draws me to animals so much. That silent understanding and comfort is what makes me love animals so much. I’m currently on summer break while working 2 part time jobs, one is a weekend job only at a pottery shop called color me mine and on top of that I work as an assistant for a home stager! My schedule with her isn’t consistent so I’m looking for one more flexible job. Unfortunately I’m living in a pretty small studio while I study interior design. Because of that I had to leave my pets at home and I decided to rescue an indoor cat in need of a safe home. I got him a window perch which he loves to watch cats and birds on. And every day I make sure to leave my front door open for him so he can watch from the screen with some fresh air. I’ve actually tried to get him outdoors a few times on a harness so he could get familiar with the area but since it’s kind of a busy area the sounds were freaking him out. He loves being pet and snuggling up under my blanket so I give him as much affection as I can throughout the day even if that means I go through endless amounts of lint rollers to get all his hair off of me!! I love taking dogs on walks that’s the only thing I wish cats were more comfortable doing haha!

Tillana is seriously a cat whisperer. We have two cats who are usually wary around strangers but to our very pleasant surprise, they both quickly warmed up to her from the very first meeting!! I think it made a huge difference that she’s detail-oriented. Prior to the first visit, she asked a lot of questions about the cats’ personalities to be best prepared and really wowed us with her memory recall about our cats’ likes/dislikes during the first visit. During that visit, she came in with calm, gentle, friendly energy and our cats really responded positively to that. They immediately let her pet them and even gave her little licks!! They’ve never done that before to someone new! Every day she sent us beautiful, thoughtful updates that really made us feel at ease while we were away. Every update put big smiles on our faces and we felt so comfortable knowing that our fur babies were in such trustworthy, capable hands. Tillana is such a warm, kind-hearted person and I think it really shows through how receptive pets are towards her. We feel truly lucky to have found her and would absolutely recommend to her to anyone looking for exceptional, top-tier level of care.

I was very impressed with G.'s visits. My cat is very skittish but when I returned from my trip, she was calm so I think G. did nothing to cause anxiety. In addition, in one of her daily reports, G. pointed out something about the cat's feeding habits. I was aware of this but felt that it was very responsible of G. to notice it after just a couple of days and bring it to my attention. I will be calling G. the next time I have a trip planned. Thank you G. for being so conscientious.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stanford. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
