About: Hi! I’m Ally, an animal lover with professional animal care experience ranging from pet boarding facilities to the Oakland Zoo. My approach is calm, attentive, patient, and individualized to each animal. Animals have always been a central part of my life. I became vegetarian as a child because of my love for animals, and that value continues to guide both my personal and professional life today. Professionally, I previously worked at a pet boarding facility where I handled client communication, maintained veterinary and care records, administered medications, monitored feeding and intake, and provided daily hands-on animal care. I also worked as a Zookeeper Aide at the Oakland Zoo, where I helped prepare specialized diets and support daily animal care operations in a fast-paced environment. I’m currently completing a Master’s degree in Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia University, so I’m especially detail-oriented, responsible, communicative, and reliable. What You Can Expect From Me: -Reliability, reliability, reliability! ☺️ -Regular communication, updates, and photos -Calm, patient handling style -Attention to detailed feeding and care instructions -Lots of affection, play, and individualized attention Previous Experience: -Zookeeper Aide at Oakland Zoo -Behavioral Health worker at a California primate center -Animal care work at research centers -Wildlife rehabilitation and sanctuary volunteer experience -Pet sitting experience with a wide range of pet breeds and personalities -Pet First Aid and CPR certified I'm currently working remotely on my capstone project to finish my Master's degree, which means my schedule is quite flexible to care for your fur babies! I do have my own cat so I need to take his own care into account when considering bookings. I prioritize creating a calm, safe, and consistent environment for every pet in their own home. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions regarding feeding, walks, medication, routines, and household rules while paying close attention to behavior, appetite, and overall wellbeing. I understand that every animal has a different comfort level and personality, so I approach each pet with patience, attentiveness, and respect for their space and routine.

About: Hello! I’m Samaria and I am old to dog-sitting but new to Rover. I’ve loved dogs my whole life so I thought I’ve taken any opportunity to dogsit growing up. I’ve lived in Redwood City my whole life and have cared for my older sister’s four active dogs (three huskies and one terrier mix) whenever she’s out of town, for years (recently for 10 days straight?. I have taken them on walks, checked on the house and stayed overnight when there were fireworks to keep them calm. I’d love to give peace of mind to busy families and make a new fur friend. I’m very flexible and looking forward to meeting new puppers! If you have any questions or want to talk about any specifications, message me! I work full time remote so I walk, feed, and play with the dogs in breaks and even after my virtual work hours. Depending on the needs of the dog, I’ll move thing around. I am available to home sit, do check-ins, or just daily walks. I do not have a reserved space in my home that fits more dogs.

About: We’re an engaged couple living in East Palo Alto and looking for more opportunities to spend quality time with animals! We’ve been trusted dog and cat sitters for friends and family for years, and recently decided to give Rover a try. We’d love to provide your pet with extra love, attention, and care while you’re away or taking some time for yourself. We can’t wait to meet your furry family member! 🐾 One of our favorite things to do is go on walks together. We always joke and say we’re meant to have a pet, and we probably will have our own one day. We walk daily during our lunch breaks and each evening after work. We’d love to take your pet with us and explore new neighborhoods! We live in a house with a private fenced backyard. We have no pets or kids in our house and we plan to take care of one pet/family at a time so we can give them our full attention and make sure they are comfortable.

About: I’ve owned dogs and cats for my entire life. I’ve regularly taken care of family pets, house/dog sat, and walked dogs. I also have a dog of my own who loves long walks, the park and snuggles. My schedule is variable week to week but I have more consistent weekend availability. I have availability for dog walks during the week as well. I want the fur babies to feel as comfortable as possible. I also want to stay on a consistent schedule that your pet is accustomed to.

About: I have grown up around dogs my whole life. I am well-versed in walking large and stubborn dogs such as Newfoundlands and Great Pyrenees. I have been a parent to Wells, a very high-energy Vizsla, for 5 years now. We did all our training ourselves and successfully trained a great loose-leash walker. I am eager to help other dogs learn this skill as well! I am working locums, so I am gone for 4 days twice a month and otherwise home and available the rest of the month. Open for walks and visits all day! If your dog is open to a play date, I have a very friendly, high-energy dog that would love to get his zoomies out with your pup. Open to going for long walks or nearby fenced-in dog parks.

About: I have an energetic English Labrador and Sheltie at home that I walk, groom, feed and provide medications to on a daily basis. I would care for others’ pets as my own. I am comfortable with medication administration including oral and topical (skin, ears and eyes). I have experience with caring for puppies as well as senior and disabled dogs with sight, hearing and joint/mobility issues. I have worked on a farm caring for horses, pigs, goats and ponies. I’m very comfortable around animals of all types and familiar with taking care of their daily needs. I currently attend summer classes in college but have a flexible schedule. I enjoy staying active and interacting with animals. Taking care of animals could easily be blended into my daily routine. About: I’ve been told by my clients they can tell the difference which sitter is with their pet(s). Their home and pets feel calm and present when they return. I’m currently working part-time and studying, so I’m looking forward to caring for your pets(s) as if you were home taking care of them yourselves. Following their regiment of care. I introduce myself to your pets in a neutral space or in their home with a friendly calm voice and energy. Crating and feeding them as per daily routine. I wait for the pets to enter my space when they’re ready.

We have two dogs who can be a bit reactive when walked by leash. My wife and I were instructed by professional dog trainers on how to keep them calm and under control when they see another dog. John picked up the training methods quickly and had both of our guys exhibiting their best behavior. John is a natural, and our dogs adore him. We are extremely pleased with his calmness and attention. Five stars!

Yu Chen is such a great friend for our pet Shadow. We are so lucky that we found Yu Chen. While we were away, she took shadow out for a long walk everyday for more than we agreed. She left me notes everyday regarding her time with Shadow. It was such a relief to know that our dog is in good hands. She is truly a dog lover! Don’t hesitate to let her take care of your paws. I will always recommend Yu Chen. Hope to see Yu Chen again soon.

  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
