“Meg did such a great job taking walking our two dogs, one an eager puppy and our cranky older 6-year old. We appreciated Meg’s willingness to meet our pups prior to booking. She updated me with pictures during her visit and showed up within the desired time frame to walk our pups. We will definitely be using Meg in the future.”
About: I’m a local elementary school teacher who loves spending time with animals. During the school year, I teach full-time, and outside of the classroom I enjoy caring for pets in my community. I’ve been around dogs my entire life. Growing up, I helped walk and care for our family dogs, and as an adult I’ve continued dog walking and pet sitting both here in California and while living in the Boston area. I’m also an experienced cat owner with three cats of my own, so I’m very comfortable caring for cats with all kinds of personalities. One of my cats had significant behavioral challenges, which led me to work with an animal behaviorist and spend countless hours learning about feline behavior. Through patience, positive reinforcement, and clicker training, I taught him tricks and helped him become much more comfortable around people. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, or somewhere in between, I’ll care for them with patience, kindness, and attention to their individual needs. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away—and to give you peace of mind through reliable care and regular updates.
“Walks with Kate were the highlights of my dog's day and she always got excited when she knew she was about to see her. Kate was very professional and attentive to my dog's needs, and did an amazing job walking and playing with my 95lbs dog. I would highly recommend Kate to anyone looking for a respectful dog walker or a new best friend for their pup!”

“Cordigen has been wonderful at providing weekly visits for our puppy, Sammy, and our 8 year old dog, June. I can tell from the photos she sends that they have a great time with her on their 3x/week visits and really appreciate all the care she shows for them. Highly recommend!”

“Courtney is very professional, thoughtful and gentle, with my energetic Golden Retriever. She helped us in an over heat week. She planned routes with shade, and kept a very close eye to the dog during the walks. We will definitely book again!”

“Cameron takes such great care of our Dash. He was very patient in building rapport with our boy and getting to know him. Dash looks forward to his walks with Cameron, who is reliable and kind!”

“Yu Chen is such a great friend for our pet Shadow. We are so lucky that we found Yu Chen. While we were away, she took shadow out for a long walk everyday for more than we agreed. She left me notes everyday regarding her time with Shadow. It was such a relief to know that our dog is in good hands. She is truly a dog lover! Don’t hesitate to let her take care of your paws. I will always recommend Yu Chen. Hope to see Yu Chen again soon.”

About: I love taking care of dogs! I've grown up with dogs my whole life (1 Maltipoo, 2 Shih-Tzus, 1 Aussie Doodle, and 1 Poodle), each of which has had a distinct personality. I also have experience dog-sitting for larger dogs in the area, including Golden Retrievers and Black Labs. My family's current pets are quite needy, so I am used to frequent walking and particular routines. However, I'm also happy with a more relaxed dog. Over the summer, I will be working about 5 hrs/week in person and 10 hrs/week remotely. I am very flexible for dog walking, including in the morning and the evening. I live in a 2BR/2BA apartment building on Stanford campus. The building is very new. It is surrounded by several fields and playgrounds, so there is plenty of space for dogs to be walked. I have no personal pets.
“Felt very comfortable leaving Fitz with Rachel. Followed instructions and was super understanding when I explained Fitzie’s behavior. Look forward to working with Rachel again whenever needed (:”

About: Experienced animal lover who has raised everything from chickens to horses! I have over ten years of experience as a dog walker and pet sitter for friends, family, neighbors, and clients. I am currently a devoted cat mom to two Cornish Rex cats. I am currently working part-time from home, so I have ample time to accommodate your pets schedule. I am also available to spend time in your home for pets who have more social needs while their owners are away. I have a fenced yard and close access to a large dog park for hosting dogs at my home. I also have a large second bedroom to host cats or dogs who prefer to be inside. All pets in my home will be kept completely separate from my two cats.
About: I have an energetic English Labrador and Sheltie at home that I walk, groom, feed and provide medications to on a daily basis. I would care for others’ pets as my own. I am comfortable with medication administration including oral and topical (skin, ears and eyes). I have experience with caring for puppies as well as senior and disabled dogs with sight, hearing and joint/mobility issues. I have worked on a farm caring for horses, pigs, goats and ponies. I’m very comfortable around animals of all types and familiar with taking care of their daily needs. I currently attend summer classes in college but have a flexible schedule. I enjoy staying active and interacting with animals. Taking care of animals could easily be blended into my daily routine. I am tidy, dependable, and dedicated to making sure your pet(s) feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. Ability to follow specific instructions related to diet, medication administration and schedule, if applicable.
“Rachel is very attentive and communicative. She takes good care of my dog and follows all my care instructions. She sends lots of pictures and gives my dog plenty of love affection.”

“Danielle is calm and wonderful with Jax. He was re-homed in August and this was his first walk with a dog walker. He was a little anxious, but Danielle knew just how to comfort him. He seemed to miss her when she left, watching out the window after her for awhile after she left.”

About: I’ve taken care of family and friend’s furry friends since a very young age- including dogs of all types. From newborn puppies, to energetic young dogs, and elderly sick pups, I have a wide range of experience in the different care that’s needed. I also have experience as a vet assistant at pets in need, where I learned the importance of hygiene, attention to detail, and the bond between us and our furry friends. Lastly, I’ve had all kinds of pets since I was young! I have two dogs of my own, one of which has special needs, so I truly understand the importance in finding someone trustworthy and capable. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone! I’m recently unemployed due to my chronic illness, and am a full time college student. So im open to work everyday! Some days in the mornings, and some days on afternoons. I’m looking forward making money in something that I love and that is flexible. I have a fenced yard outside for playtime, as well as a gate inside my house to keep my dogs secure and safe. I have lots of toys and space in my house!
“Mara was fantastic! She was able to take my request last minute and was super flexible. She had great communication and contacted me before the walk to ask for instructions and specific requests. Mara was on the spot punctual for the time she had to pick up my pups. My pups had a great walk with her and she took lots of pictures of them having a great time. Overall Mara was great and I would 10/10 recommend her to anyone!”

“We have an older dog who needs to be lifted in the car to get to the park. Julie did a great job of helping her, and my other dog, get their walk while I was out of town.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Stanford
We have two dogs who can be a bit reactive when walked by leash. My wife and I were instructed by professional dog trainers on how to keep them calm and under control when they see another dog. John picked up the training methods quickly and had both of our guys exhibiting their best behavior. John is a natural, and our dogs adore him. We are extremely pleased with his calmness and attention. Five stars!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
