I'm so glad we found Fabiola, she was a wonderful caretaker to our rabbits. She came over before our trip to make sure she understood what was necessary and was communicative throughout. She was very thorough, leaving their space very clean. She was also kind and we will definitely book her again!

About: I'm open to most types of pet sitting and have a hybrid work approach so more often than not am able to stay for the majority of the day with your furry child! I love walking in general, playing with dogs, cats, and appreciate that every pet has their own personality. Pet setting has always been a source of joy in my life and creating long standing relationships with families and their pets. It is such an amazing feeling to be treated with a wagging tail or a tail straight up depending on the pet :) and know that sending photos of their fur friend is bringing peace of mind to a family. I understand how much a pet means and am willing to go the extra mile to fit your families needs. I'm a graduate student getting a masters in clinical psychology in the evenings, which means I am available most days of the week and weekend during the day. I know I'm in good company here in saying that I treat my own cat like she's a part of my family. With any animal I'm taking care of I do my best to adhere to the schedule that the pet is used to in an effort to maintain a sense of normalcy when their family is away from them. I usually like to get to know what each pet likes and make sure we are trying to do some of their favorite activities to make their time positive. I make a concerted effort to keep the home neat and tidy each day so that the pet is also feeling clean and comfortable, but also so that the owners know that I respect not only their pet but their home. Depending on the preference of the owner I find it fun to send a small daily update which includes a photo and how the pet is doing overall.

Thien-Nha is absolutely wonderful and I’m so lucky to have found her. She’s reliable, responsive, and incredibly kind. Even my super shy kitty came out of hiding to say hello when Thien-Nha came over. I feel she really goes above and beyond for our pets and that is simply invaluable. Will definitely hire her again for our next trip.

Genevieve was very thorough and provided check-ins and followups in unclear situations (e.g. my cat has a medical condition and she was attentive and checked with me on his symptoms regularly). She also cleaned my apartment/countertops on the last day which I really appreciated!

About: I will walk to crap out of your dog. Take that figuratively or literally as you please. Regardless, after our walks they'll come home totally tuckered out. I love dogs and have years of experience caring for dogs and house sitting. I grew up with large Chesapeake bay retrievers and am comfortable walking large dogs. I have a 1.5 year old basset hound. Aesthetically speaking, I am a sucker for a long, low canine. But I love all breeds and can't wait to meet your dog for a walk or a run outside! Can provide references. I'm currently looking for work, so have wide availability to care for your dog/cat. I am used to walking my own dog 2-3 times per day, plus training sessions and K9 nose work practice. If you are working on obedience with your dog, I'm happy to continue to provide training sessions as well while sitting them. At my home, I have a fenced yard with a 1.5 year old basset hound to keep your pups company. I can easily crate your dog if needed, and much prefer to arrange a meet and greet before sitting whenever possible to make sure your pup feels safe and confident in my care.

About: We’ve fostered around 20 pups and volunteered at a senior center with our pup, bringing comfort and joy to others. These experiences shaped our calm, patient, and loving approach to every dog we care for, with 20+ repeat clients. We both work remotely from home, which means your dog will have constant supervision, companionship, and attention throughout the day. Dogs in care are never left alone for long periods and settle into a relaxed, home style, cozy routine. We focus on providing a calm, peaceful environment. Dogs are treated like family, enjoying neighborhood walks, playtime, naps, and quiet time. Only accepting calm, well mannered dogs who are comfortable sharing space and not prone to resource guarding, which helps maintain a safe and stress free home. The home is set up for comfort and calm, providing extra dog beds in multiple areas, cozy resting spots, and a variety of toys and enrichment items to keep dogs comfortable and engaged. Dogs are free to relax, play, nap, and move around at their own pace. Because we work remotely, pet care fits seamlessly into our daily routine and, with always being home, allows for frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, and supervision throughout the day. Plenty of grassy areas and walking paths near our residence, making outdoor time easy and enjoyable. The schedule is structured but flexible, adjusting to each dog’s energy level and normal routine. Available on weekdays and weekends, can accommodate extended stays, and aim to support last minute bookings when possible. Your dog’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. Our home is clean, calm, and well supervised, and the dogs are never left unattended. We follow each pet’s routine closely and introduce dogs thoughtfully to maintain a peaceful environment. We take dogs out for frequent potty breaks and daily walks, always with safety in mind. Crate if requested, but most dogs relax freely indoors with cozy spaces to rest. To help you feel confident and connected, we provide daily photo and video updates, and we're always happy to send additional photos, videos, or text updates on demand. You’ll never have to wonder how your pet is doing. We also recommend a meet & greet prior to boarding to ensure we’re a great fit and that your dog feels comfortable in our home.

Tillana did an excellent job looking after our cat Zoe while we were out of town! She went above and beyond our expectations for her! She engaged with Zoe and gave her all the attention she needed to feel loved and cared for during the time we were gone. Moreover, Tillana came through for us when we contacted her on short notice! She didn’t have to help us out but she chose to step in and look after Zoe when we only gave her two days advance notice! We will be sure to reach out to her the next time we are out of town!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portola Valley. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
