“Sarah was amazing with my Gunnar. I received daily pictures and updates of their walks and how they were spending their days together. The whole experience was outstanding and I will definitely use Sarah again whenever possible. Thanks Sarah!”

“Lee was a great dog & house sitter! Our dogs took to him right away and he made us feel like they were in good hands. He was always fast to respond to our texts and send pics and videos of our dogs while we were gone. Highly recommend!!”

About: New York transplant who just moved to the greater L.A. area. I, along with the rest of my roommates, am a young professional and have always had an immense love of dogs. I live in a new, dog-friendly building with my girlfriend and another dog-owing couple in which the majority of the other residents are other young professionals who own dogs as well. There is ample space spread out between the building courtyard and the surrounding block to take the animals out to walk and play. We have a dedicated cabinet in the kitchen for dog treats and items. I primarily work on the computer from home, so Rover is the perfect opportunity for me to work with some new friends in a wide-open open environment.

About: I started dog walking and doing cat play dates out of high school 11 years ago and loved it! I grew up with two large dogs and two cats in Portland, Oregon. Calm or animated, tall and long, short and stout, I take care of dogs & cats with all types of personalities, needs, and routines. I know dog & cat first aid through the American Red Cross and will go above and beyond to be a steward of your space. I study critical theory around the subjects of visual culture and land use at Portland State University online, so my schedule is open and adaptable to yours. My availability is completely open. I'm currently a student online, so I can adapt my schedule around whichever days and times you need help. I'm a patient, soft-spoken caretaker that allows a new fur friend to get to know me first. I'll walk the greenest routes in the area and cross the streets at the safest points. I walk at a steady pace and can check in with you and your pet during the walk or pet sit. We can play games or lounge around if that's more their style. I'll tend to your pet's grooming, diet, activity, and behavior specificities as well as any household tasks that accompany the visit.
“Joseph made our first time using rover easy and stress free. He sent us frequent updates and pictures to let us know how jazzy was doing. He went out of his way to do a meet and greet with us before our trip. Asked questions to make our experience a smooth one. Jazzy and her family are a Joseph fan for sure!”

“We could not have had a better experience with Rooney!!!! They were instantly so warm and sweet with our pup and she was so happy to see them when we left on our trip. Rooney was super communicative and responsive & sent us the best updates while we were away. A million stars!”

“Jehiny was available pretty last minute and made me feel so safe and secure leaving my foster dog at home alone. She sent timely updates, shared pictures, and gave us some suggestions for some difficult situations we were having with the foster. I will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Jenny is very kind and always great with communication from start! She was prompt and arrived at our set time, Our two dogs, cooper and nokko, was in great care with Jenny! She sent us photo updates and made sure medication/food was fed, we came home to very happy pups and would love to have Jenny again with us in the future definately!!”

“I had a wonderful experience with her watching my senior dog. Even though we didn't get the chance to meet in person, all of our communication was prompt, professional, and incredibly kind. She kept me updated throughout the day with how my dog was doing, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. One thing I especially appreciated was how attentive she was. If she noticed him acting a little restless or differently than normal, she reached out to ask if it was typical behavior. It really showed that she was paying close attention to him and genuinely wanted to make sure he was comfortable and okay. When I returned, my home was clean, my dog was happy and well cared for, and I felt confident he had been in great hands. I would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, attentive, and professional sitter.”

About: I’ve taken care my animals and others since I was 11. I had a dog and cat (Zeus and Blackula) that I had to recently give away after moving to California from Utah. I have experience taking care of family and friends pets like, dogs, cats, and hamsters so I understand the responsibilities of loving and caring for pets like I did my own. So hit me up if you need a reliable sitter for your animals. I’m currently unemployed so my availability is every day/time of the week except Sunday mornings. I’m also able to do late and overnights as well. For pet care, I provide many services such as walking, feeding, playing, and/or just chilling with your pet, however; I am only able to do in-client home service due to apartment not allowing pets.
“Jordan is fantastic. She Cared for our dog ( who likes lots of human contact) and cat (who doesn’t) While staying in our condo for the weekend. I can’t recommend Destiny enough! She took such amazing care of my dog Ronan while I was away for work and incredibly busy, which gave me real peace of mind. Communication was excellent, and I always felt confident that he was being well cared for. She also handled an unexpected and ill-timed leaky ceiling situation calmly and efficiently, going above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of while continuing to prioritize Ronan’s comfort and care. I’m so grateful for how dependable, thoughtful, and proactive they were. Ronan was in the best hands, and I would absolutely trust her to watch Ronan again!

Ashley is my doggies favorite person! We couldn’t have asked for a better person to take care of them! Ashley is incredibly attentive, responsible, and caring. She sent us photos and updates throughout the stay. She bring them to the outside as much as possible and played with them all the time. She took care of my doggies like her owns. She also followed our instructions carefully and paid attention to each dog’s needs and different styles of play. When we came home, our dogs were happy and well cared for. They were so sad for Ashley to leave, which says everything. We are honestly so grateful to have found someone we can trust. She keeps up with his energy and prioritizes play and walks which is great because he’s always tuckered out when I get home. She treats my dog like he is her own and gives him all the love and care. Lindsey has watched my dog overnight and I feel completely comfortable with her in our home. She is neat and clean and very respectful!

She was very attentive to our dog's needs and expressed genuine interest in details to make sure he was completely comfortable. It made me feel so at ease that he was in good hands. We'll def be reaching out in the future again.

Ly did an excellent job caring for my pups and my house! She was super flexible and provided updates and pictures while I was away. She is very caring and sweet with animals and you can tell has a very kind heart. I would highly recommend her if anyone is considering hiring her. I will absolutely hire her again in the future.

Jacqueline took great care of my two cats while I was out of the country for a month. She consistently sent me picture and video updates and even helped to take care of their excess dandruff. Would recommend if you are looking for someone to take longer term care of your pets.

Natalie was great with my two dogs! She was very communicative and would check in frequently with updates and pictures. My dogs warmed up to her quickly and seems like they had a great weekend with her! I’ll definitely be asking Natalie back to watch my dogs whenever I’m out of town, would recommend her to any dog parent looking for a sitter!

Jessica took excellent, loving care of our dog and cat while we were out of the country for a week. She took many pics and shared frequent updates with us, and put our minds and hearts at rest that they were being taken care of wonderfully. Our worry now is that our dog and cat will miss her too much! We will not hesitate to recommend her services and call on her again. Thank you, Jessica!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Los Angeles on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 14,621 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Los Angeles. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Los Angeles walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Los Angeles maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Los Angeles choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
