“Lori is wonderful! Excellent communication and just a lovely person, we felt very good about leaving our dogs with her, they were very well taken care of! Highly recommend.”

“Emilie is the perfect sitter for my cat Bunny! I really wanted to find someone who Bunny felt comfortable with and who I could trust to look after her, and I am so, so glad I found Emilie. Emilie has the best energy and they are kind, attentive, and caring to both my cat and the space. Having someone I trust in my home to look after my cat as well as the peace of mind I felt while I was away is deeply invaluable to me. And I love that Bunny now has a new friend! I just got home and Bunny is so relaxed and calm- it just reaffirms that choosing Emilie was the right and best choice. Already booked them for another weekend!”

“Excellent! She took care of my puppy like it was her own daughter, taught her new tricks and games and now she loves her more than me LOL! If you want to book a sitter or someone to watch your pet, look no further!”

“Kim is THE BEST! She house sat and took care of our dog Lila (120 lbs) and was beyond what we had hoped for. She sent pictures and updates multiple times every day and our shy girl absolutely loved her. We will absolutely be using her again in the future. Cannot recommend her enough”

“Kelsey was a caring, responsive, and capable sitter! Our cat is a tad old but Kelsey was great with giving him meds and all the love he needed (or demanded lol). She made our time away worry-free. Absolutely recommend her services!”

“William went above and beyond taking care of Hazel while we were out of the country for a week. He kept us posted with regular updates and followed our instructions to a T. Hazel is a relatively high-maintenance dog and William followed our instructions carefully during his time with her. He took her on neighborhood hikes to keep her active and sent us daily pics to keep us at ease that she was being well taken care of. Responsible and reliable, I highly recommend William for dog sitting / house sitting.”

“Pepper was in excellent hands while we were out of town for a wedding. She even got to go to the park TWICE. I’m surprised Pepper even wanted us back home she was pampered!!! We were also provided with tons of pictures and updates! We Can’t wait to use Sarah (and David) again!!!! Thanks so much for everything!”

“Avery was wonderful and communicative at every step of the process - before, during and after sitting for our two adult pups. She was understanding and accommodating of our requests with regards to the dogs' care in the heat wave. She went above and beyond in making sure our home was exactly as she found it, and even helped with clean up. Would 100% recommend and we will be booking again. Thank you Avery!”

About: What sets me apart is how deeply I tune into each pet. I'm an empathetic and thoughtful caregiver — I read the subtle cues and anticipate what a dog needs before they have to ask. I genuinely care for every pet as if they were my own. I also have hands-on experience with: • Puppies (patience, potty training, basic commands) • Senior pets (gentle handling, mobility support, medication routines) • Basic training reinforcement After decades of pet sitting on the side and loving every minute, I've learned that the little things — a calm voice, a predictable routine, noticing when something feels off — make all the difference. Pet care is my full-time focus. My daily routine revolves entirely around the pets I'm caring for. A typical day starts early — morning walks, feeding, and medication if needed. Throughout the day, I schedule playtime and rest according to each pet's rhythm. Evenings are for settling everyone in, sending updates to owners, and prepping for the next day. Because this is my only job, I'm fully present; No juggling meetings or rushing off to a desk. Your pet gets my complete attention. I care for pets in my own home. I've created a calm, pet-friendly space where dogs feel safe and comfortable while you're away. Here's what that looks like: • My home is clean, secure, and set up with pets in mind (no hazards, plenty of cozy spots) • I follow your pet's regular schedule — feeding, walks, potty breaks, medication, and rest • I only take a small number of pets at a time, so each one gets individual attention • I send daily photos and updates so you can see exactly how they're doing For safety, I'm careful about introductions between pets, keep the environment calm, and never leave pets unsupervised in risky situations. Your pet's well-being is my full-time focus.

“I'm delighted to share that Katherine provided outstanding care for our whippet, Finn. Her commitment was evident as she went above and beyond, even staying overtime to ensure Finn's well-being until we returned. We greatly appreciate her dedication and highly recommend her as a reliable and caring dog sitter.”

“Gabriana was so sweet and thoughtful with our anxious pup! She was punctual and very communicative. Looking forward to having her take care of our pup again.”

“Limari was great w my pups, she was communicative and flexible with my newness to the app in a few years. The pups seems happy and the house looked better than I left it! I'll certainly be using her services in the future”

“They were a 10/10. Our dogs were really well cared for. We were gone for 14 days, and when we returned, they were healthy and happy. I highly recommend them.”

“JAMIE IS THE BEST ROVER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I’ve had my cat for ten years, and have used rover many times. But Jamie? She’s different. My cat is very particular, high needs sweet boy who needs meds three times a day. He is very attached to me, and leaving him is difficult for both of us. But the moment he met Jamie? He was smitten. She sent me a video of him purring next time her. Genuinely? He’s in love. Jamie was communicative, kind, and so very good to my boy. She is now our go-to sitter. Best rover I have ever had!!!”

About: I’ve taken care of friends and clients pets, feeding and walking them when they are out of town. I give them the attention they need and deserve while their owners are out. I work part-time, but I’m free any time. I’m available most of the days even holidays or weekends. Just let me know what days and times work best for you. At the client's home, I make sure all the doors and gates are closed. I care for your pets like my own, and I know how important they are to people.
“Ninon is our favorite dog watcher so much that we booked her twice in the month! I honestly think my dog prefers her to us. She keeps us posted all throughout and more than anything, I feel totally safe with her watching our family member.”

Lindsey was fantastic with my 1 year old pup. My dog has a lot of energy and is very clingy and Lindsey showed so much concern and care for his well being. She took him on a ton of walks, played with him a bunch, and kept me updated throughout. I really appreciate how thorough and caring she is! She made sure to send me photos and videos, and kept me updated on his walks, how he slept, and his little quirks. My dog was so comfortable around her and was calm and tired upon me returning, so I can tell that Lindsey took exceptional care of him. I would recommend Lindsey wholeheartedly!

Gabriana is amazing! She stayed at our house for 9 days while we were on vacation, taking care of our dog Bertie who was recovering from knee surgery. Not only did she take exceptional care of him (some meds, dressing the would, etc) but our house was spotless when we got back!

Hilary was great. Her house is perfect for dogs - nice big yard and fully fenced in. She was very responsive and sent lots of good pictures. Our dogs took to her from the first meeting and we could tell the feeling was mutual. We didn't worry once about them being with Hilary, we knew they were in good hands.

Peggy was an absolute dream! I always get a little nervous leaving my cat with someone new but my cat warmed up to Peggy so quickly because she has such a warm and loving energy. She was very communicative and sent adorable photo and video updates. Do not miss out on having Peggy care for your pets. Will absolutely be reaching back out to her! She’s simply the best.

Kiyomi took such good care of our two dogs while our family was on vacation that we were able to truly enjoy our vacation without worrying about anything. Our lucky dogs got more walks than they get with us on a normal basis, and she even did some light training or reinforcement of training and games with them to keep their interest up. She sent batches pf photos daily with an update of what they did that day which our kids loved since they missed the dogs so much. And our dogs looked so happy and relaxed in the photos - I could tell they were very comfortable with Kiyomi. Would definitely rebook Kiyomi the next time we are out of town.

Stephen did an amazing job with Kisho! It was very clear from the beginning the amount Stephen cared for Kisho's well being and happiness He tackled any small issues that came up, and greatly communicated through out. Having peace of mind when leaving your pup is a priceless feeling. We will be definitely be using Stephen going ahead.

Sarah and David were absolutely exceptional with our two dogs. From the moment we left, we felt completely at ease knowing they were in such caring and capable hands. They provided regular updates and photos throughout our trip, which gave us tremendous peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our time away without worrying. It was clear that Sarah and David genuinely love and understand dogs. Our two pups were treated like members of their family, receiving plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and outstanding care. When we returned, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Sarah and David were professional, reliable, communicative, and went above and beyond in every way. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would trust them with our dogs again without hesitation. We highly recommend Sarah and David to anyone looking for exceptional pet sitters. Thank you both for taking such wonderful care of our dogs—we are incredibly grateful! ❤️🐾🐾
Alexis is super caring, thoughtful, and communicative. She took care of our dog for the third time while we were away on a 2 week trip. She sent adorable pics everyday, and we came home to a chill and happy pup. Plus, the house was spotless. It’s such a relief to have found Alexis—we always know Lucy is in great hands while we’re away.

Patrick stayed with our dog and cats for about a week and we've never felt so at ease on a trip knowing they were with him. He was always checking in and sending us photos and you can tell he truly enjoys spending time with animals and cares for them. It was also our dog's birthday and he made sure she got a special walk and treats which was very sweet! Thank you so much again Patrick!!!

Just came back to a very happy dog and clean home! Corrine/Thorn was a wonderful communicator and took care of Fred excellently (including an outing to a dogs birthday party that Fred loved). We’d be thrilled to have them watch Fred and stay in our home anytime!

Liency was amazing with my 2 dogs and cat. My dogs are a bit temper-mental and she’s been so professional in how she handles them. She updated me 2x a day with photos and reassurance that they were doing great. Additionally one if my dogs has to take meds and get eye drops throughout the day and liency was a pro handling that. Thanks so much, will definitely book again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Highland Park
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 14,866 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
