“Kit was incredibly thoughtful and made sure to ask me questions about my pets’ needs that hadn’t even occurred to me to share. She sent lots of pictures and updates on my cats throughout my trip so I knew they were well taken care of. Could not recommend her more!!”

“Anusha took great care of my pug Maui while I was away for the weekend, and I really appreciated the updates and attention she gave him. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was in good hands. Maui was happy and well cared for. I would definitely use her again in the future and recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter!”

“Dimitrios was fantastic! We needed someone to house visit our dog a few days when our usual Rover sitter was unavailable. He came with only a few days notice to meet her and got along with her great. Highly recommend using him.”

“This is second time we have worked with Amanda. She is awesome! She does so well with both of our very different cats (one very active and playful and one shy and quiet). They really seem comfortable and content with her. Amanda’s communication is fantastic, which I really appreciate especially as an anxious kitty parent. She also takes great photos for the updates! I highly recommend her and hope to book more time with Amanda in the future!”

“Jordan was wonderful! Very communicative, prompt, and caring. Sent absolutely adorable pics of my cats, and I truly felt like my pets were in good hands. 10/10, would recommend! We will absolutely reach out next time we go out of town.”

“Adam was great! My pup Jax was in great hands. Adam left updates and paid close attention to my pups needs and corky ways. We definitely recommend Adam and will be using him again.”

“Yimei was GREAT. Highly recommend. She went above and beyond taking care of Lucy, my 15 year old very needy cat! Lucy was very well taken care of. Yimei also communicated promptly after every visit.”

About: I've volunteered at the Evanston Animal Shelter for several years, where I work directly with dogs of all temperaments, including anxious, reactive, and high-energy dogs. I know how to read dog body language, handle leash behavior, and keep walks calm and safe. I've owned dogs my whole life and understand that every dog has its own personality and needs. I work from home on Mondays and Fridays, so I have real flexibility those days for drop-ins and check-ins. Weekends I'm generally available, as well. I'm not able to host dogs at my place (I have a dog-reactive dog at home), but I'm happy to come to you; your dog stays comfortable in their own home and their routine stays intact. Your home and your dog's routine get my full respect. I follow whatever instructions you leave; feeding schedules, medications, quirks, all of it. I've worked with dogs of all temperaments at the Evanston Animal Shelter, so I'm comfortable handling anxious or reactive dogs calmly and safely. I'll always leave things exactly as I found them.

I have lots of experience with high-anxiety breeds and am an expert at making your animal feel safe and comfortable. I have experience with special dietary needs, medication, and handling reactivity. I love all animals, big and small and will devote myself to treating your pet with the care and love it deserves! I work part-time through the summer (about 12 hours a week) and have little going on otherwise! I can make myself available on most days and during most hours of the day to accommodate your pet's schedule. I am frequently available for house sitting and I look forward to spending time with your animal! I will happily travel to your home to take care of your animal(s). I am very neat and organized and will make sure your home is sparkling before I leave! I am amenable to each pet's varying needs, I am very easy to contact if any issues arise, and I will prioritize spending time with your pet above all if hired!
About: i’ve been taking care of plants and animals for my friends and neighbors since i was watering my neighbors gardens and feeding their chickens. i grew up in los angeles, where a shocking amount of people in my community kept livestock as pets! i’ve been taking care of cats, dogs, parrots, pigs, and chickens since i was 13 years old. im stage/photo a hair/makeup artist by trade when im not working towards my teaching degree. i love taking long walks, and having a buddy who is thrilled to be outside with me is the best. I’m in school from 10AM into the afternoon 4 days a week, but have plenty of time off fridays and on the weekends. i also only do a half day on tuesdays and thursdays! i like getting up early, it makes me feel productive! Animals aren’t like people! they communicate differently, so taking my time and looking for visual feedback on comfort is a priority. i work with animals of any temperament. i believe communication with the family is important in understanding how to make your fluffy (or not) family member feel most comfortable while you’re away.
About: I originally started work at a dog daycare and transitioned to pet-care in 2022. I recently graduated with my Veterinary Assistant degree and I am in the process of starting a pet sitting business within my community. I'm able to do over-night stays and drop-ins. On my spare time, I enjoy exercising and cooking. I read, bake cookies, watch movies or listen to music. I lock doors and if I’m pet sitting, I take direct instructions from the owner. If I’m dog sitting- I always have double the amount of poop bags. My cell phone is always with me.
About: I grew up with dogs, cats, fishes, rabbits, hamsters, even horses. As the older sister with 2 full time working parents I always took care of the animals. I am now in college and don’t have any pets and I miss taking care of them. I know how to put on snow boots on dogs if they need it when it gets cold. I can bathe and brush their teeth. If your pet requires any special care I will be able to provide it and would love to do so! I have a few classes a day but am able to take care of pets throughout the day and night. Monday and Wednesday are the only days that I have longer classes. But the rest of the week I only have 1 class a day for 1.5 hours and am free the rest of the time. I am able to provide any care for pets in my client’s home that is necessary. I can walk, play with, bathe and do anything else your pet needs.
About: I have had dogs and cats my whole life, so caring for animals has always been a big part of who I am. I currently own two dogs and have plenty of hands-on experience with daily pet care, including feeding, walking, playtime, and giving animals the attention and patience they need to feel comfortable and safe. I understand that every pet has a different personality, and I always aim to make them feel cared for, happy, and loved. My schedule is very flexible right now, so I have wide availability for walks, drop-ins, and pet care throughout the week. Since I am currently between jobs and looking for part-time work, I am able to be available during many daytime, evening, and weekend hours. I am happy to work with pet owners to find a schedule that is reliable and convenient for them. Creating a safe, calm, and caring environment is very important to me when looking after pets. Both of my dogs are rescues, and one has experienced abuse and struggles with anxiety, which has taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and building trust with animals. I always make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and treated with kindness so they can feel secure and well cared for.
“Kristina did a great job checking in on our pups and kitty! She took them for a long walk and sent lots of photos. The pups seemed like they had a great time, and I get the sense that Kristina really enjoys her time with the pets. Would be happy to have her check in on the pets again anytime!”

About: Going out of town? Your dog will love our friendly Evanston home located near Lake Michigan beaches and forest preserves. We provide weekly adventures such as trips to the dog beach and pooch park, walks in the neighborhood, playtime in our fenced in backyard, and lots of love and attention. Why I love dog sitting I have had dogs in my family since I was born. I grew up in rural areas in the Midwest, and we always had at least one family dog of varying breeds. When I became an adult, I got a black lab puppy from my sister, who had rescued its mother while it was pregnant. I became very interested in dog training, reading any books I could get my hands on and applying their techniques. My lab, Asia, became the gentlest, most well-trained dog most people had ever met. We lost her at age 13; since then, we have always had a lab as a family pet and we have taken care of countless other breeds. About my yard We have a fenced back yard--it is a 6 foot fence around the perimeter with a 5 foot chain link fence between our yard and our friendly neighbor's yard. There is an open area where the dogs can roam freely, a concrete patio, and a vegetable garden that lines one side of the house between our yard and our neighbor's yard. Dogs are supervised by an adult when they are in our yard--we do not leave them unattended. The majority of your dog's outdoor time will be spent on walks and outings. I am a teacher, so I have weekends and holidays off. In addition, I have 2 young adults and a teen living with me who often help by cuddling and playing with our clients. We do not crate our clients unless upon request. Dogs are free to lounge on beds or furniture. No dog likes to be left behind, but we will do our very best to ease your pup's stress. I have over many years of pet boarding and training experience.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Evanston
Tiffany is amazing! She took the time to come meet our cat, Hunny, prior to her drop-ins. She sent a detailed report and adorable photos. I could tell our cat loves her! I also feel so comfy knowing she herself is a vet tech! We will definitely be reaching out again. Thank you, Tiffany!

Wow! Hayley blew us away with her detailed visits and tons of pictures. Every pet parent knows, it’s the small details that help you feel safe knowing they’re taken care of. My husband and I looked forward to Hayley’s visit summaries each morning, giddy to ooo and aaaw at all of the pictures she sent of our babies. I know they were well loved while we were away. 10/10 experience for our first time using Rover!!

Zhanna truly loves cats and it is evident in all of her interactions with them; my kitty was obviously happy to see her and very relaxed. I’m so grateful that I can rely on her! I’ve known Zhanna for quite some time now and I absolutely trust her. I greatly appreciated her willingness to work with me during a very hectic time due to a family emergency. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a regular cat sitter.

This was my first time leaving my girl, Aquavit, and leaving her with Liz soothed all my nerves. She’s attentive and patient, and treats your pet like they’re her own. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and you won’t find a better pet sitter than her.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
