About: I have had a 3 dogs over the course of my life and 1 in college with my housemates. I have also cared for my senior dog when she was terminal for a year which gave me a lot of different experiences than usual animal care. I treat every dog I see on the street like my own and always stop for pets! I am currently a nursing student looking to make extra money. The program is online so I am available often to help out with whatever you need. I understand how to do the feeding schedules, walking schedules, and daily updates for parents as I take care of my dog at home some days for my parents as well. I can easily crate your dog if needed or help with feeding. I am great at following instructions and will respect your animal and your home accordingly!

About: My daughter and I have been boarding dogs for years and love it, we really focus on one families pet at a time so we give him/her our full love and attention. We will take up to 2 dogs at a time. We love to walk and play with the dogs. We have a large fully enclosed back yard in addition to a park at the end of our block we can walk dogs around a large walking path. We text photos and funny videos of us with your pet. My daughter is off to college this year and this will assist her school fund. We love these dogs as if they were our own. WE love taking care of pets, We love staying active walking and playing with the dogs. We will not take dogs if we do not have time for them. I have an enclosed back yard that is perfect for active dogs to chase birds and have a bit of an area to run free. We do walk the dogs to our local park at the end of our block.

About: My first pets were 2 rats. I took care of them exclusively, bathed them, fed and cleaned up after them. The family cat Simba was mainly my responsibility with occasional help from family, and I would take care of our family dog Bentley when I was home for summers from college. I've helped care for several other animals when babysitting children, and occasionally dog sat overnight for other families over a 3 day weekend period. I've also loved my time volunteering at the local dog shelter where I walk, clean up after, and play with all the dogs up for adoption until they find their forever families. Also enjoyed a 6 week program at a dog shelter in Athens, Greece in 2024! I’m working part and full time depending on the week, but have most availability on weekends and later in the afternoons. Happy to do house sitting as long as the dogs can be alone for up to 6 hours on the days I work! I care for all pets as if they were my own, making sure they have all the attention and care they need and then some.

About: My family has had dogs since I was 5 years old - ranging from weimareners to toy poodles! I love pets and have extensive experience walking, feeding, bathing my own and friends/families pets. I am home for the summer from college and in the process of finding my first full time marketing role. Besides a few calls a day, I have time to care for your pet wether that means walking, feeding, bathing, or just watching them! I will not be housing dogs in my own home. I promise to keep your home clean and keep everything in its place when I am walking your dog!

Stephen and Donna did an excellent job walking our Great Pyrenees mix several times over a few weeks. You could feel their love for dogs from the moment we met them and they were very communicative and kind throughout the whole process. Our boy enjoyed and looked forward to his walks with them and we would definitely recommend and use their services in the future.

About: Both of my parents are veterinarians, so I’ve grown up around animals all my life! I have basic animal care skills (walks, feeding, playing) and the extra ones too (animal body language, toxic vs nontoxic foods/materials, giving medication)! I have two cats myself, and have taken care of family and friends’ dogs for years. I’m currently working part time and have a flexible schedule, which means I have plenty of time to play with and visit your pets! I prioritize safety for your pet! I understand that I will be someone unfamiliar coming to the home, and will make sure to let your pet lead the way in our interactions.

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, and lizards. I have worked at an animal sanctuary, I have worked with disabled animals, and will give your pet the attention and love they deserve. I just graduated from the university of Vermont with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, I am taking a few months off of my regular 9 - 5 to take time for myself so I have a very open schedule. There is no time too early or too late for me to come help, just let me know what works best for you and your animal. I will feed, play with, walk, and spend time with your animal to make sure that they feel loved and cared for. I have no problem staying the night if your animal gets anxious without people around or making multiple visits within a single day.

About: I am a life-long animal lover that turned that love into a career after moving into my home with a fenced yard. I have experience caring for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. I purchased my home with my dogs in mind as I've got a fenced yard and I wanted to make sure that they had plenty of room to run around. Your dog will be treated like family while they're staying with me. I have three dogs of my own that range in age from 2 to 12, so no matter what speed your dog likes to go we've got something for them. For anyone little who needs it I've got stairs to get up on furniture. My pup, Lego, LOVES to play and will welcome any playmates with open paws. We've got tons of toys and chews around the house and lots of beds and couches to lounge on if that's what they're into. Other than occasional errands I may need to run, I am home full-time with the dogs. Due to this, the dogs don't have a lot of opportunities to get bored…in fact I have many owners texting me after telling me how tired their dog was after staying here! I try to let the dogs be outside and play to their heart’s content (weather permitting, of course). I started Rover as something to do on the side to spend time with dogs, and it has grown to be a full time gig for me and I couldn’t be happier. Being around dogs is truly what brings me joy--it would be my pleasure to take care of your pup while you're away. WHAT KIND OF DOGS DO BEST HERE? My goal is to let the dogs interact and play as much as possible, so well socialized dogs do best at my house. If your dog prefers to be alone or has aggressive/anxiety-based behaviors, then I may not be the sitter for you. Please keep this in mind as you consider me as a potential dog sitter. I am not for every dog and we want to ensure your dog is comfortable in its environment. Please note that I do foster dogs for Chicago Rescue Authority. Foster dogs will never interact with any guest dogs until they have been fully vetted and thoroughly tested to ensure they can safely interact with the pack. About: I have a half Australian shepherd half poodle named Luna! She’s been with me for 13 years since she was a puppy. I’ve grown up around dogs and cats since a young age and have lots of love towards them. They’re awesome and I’d love to help care for yours! I’m currently working a full time position that is predominately remote, with me having to go into the downtown office once a week. My schedule varies week by week. I am responsible and can hopefully get any special requests executed. I follow directions super well and am trustworthy. It’s scary having a stranger take care of your pet, I get it. They will be in special hands!

Donna and Stephen were absolutely fantastic with Jax! From the moment I left him, I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in such caring and attentive hands. They treated Jax like he was one of their own, and I especially loved receiving pictures throughout his stay. Seeing how happy and comfortable he was gave me such peace of mind and let me know he was being well cared for and having a great time. It means so much to find people you can truly trust with your fur baby, and Donna and Stephen are definitely those people. Jax gives them five paws! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 I would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be using them again. Thank you both for taking such wonderful care of Jax! ❤️

Rosy was great! Both of my cats need pills and one is particularly adept at hiding in general, so we were worried about how he would react. She tried various strategies to get a pill in him, and even though it was unsuccessful in the end, I really appreciated her tenacity. She sent pictures and very reassuring updates after each visit.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Northfield stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northfield. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
