“Sophia did a great job walking Ginny! I love that she sent some photos and even videos from the walk. We will definitely hire Sophia for more dog walks in the future.”

About: i’ve been taking care of plants and animals for my friends and neighbors since i was watering my neighbors gardens and feeding their chickens. i grew up in los angeles, where a shocking amount of people in my community kept livestock as pets! i’ve been taking care of cats, dogs, parrots, pigs, and chickens since i was 13 years old. im stage/photo a hair/makeup artist by trade when im not working towards my teaching degree. i love taking long walks, and having a buddy who is thrilled to be outside with me is the best. I’m in school from 10AM into the afternoon 4 days a week, but have plenty of time off fridays and on the weekends. i also only do a half day on tuesdays and thursdays! i like getting up early, it makes me feel productive! Animals aren’t like people! they communicate differently, so taking my time and looking for visual feedback on comfort is a priority. i work with animals of any temperament. i believe communication with the family is important in understanding how to make your fluffy (or not) family member feel most comfortable while you’re away.
“I was just saying the same thing over and over again, but if you want trustworthy Dog Walker, who has exceptional communication skills that to mention my dog is madly in love with him and cries when he leaves. This is the person to hire.”

“Gab is an easy-to-talk to even over by dog's excitement about the walks. Gab has a dog of his own, and seems to enjoy the walks. He sends pictures, covered routes, pee/poo reports :D. He is very reliable and easy-going. I would like to continue using his services from time to time.”

About: I have been caring for my 8.5 year old Australian cattle dog, Audie, since she was 12 weeks old. She is extremely active, so I am good with high energy pups! Have also fostered multiple dogs. I am diligent to rules when it comes to dealing with reactivity, as I have experience with this as well. I am a university professor, so I am off in the summer and have more flexibility in my schedule to drop in during work hours. I am experienced with walking dogs on leash, and prefer this. I am also happy to play off leash if you have a fenced in area.

“Times did a wonderful job walking our two dogs mostly while we were at work. She was on time, made sure our home was secure and the dogs were well cared for. Rudy and Dasher both said they loved spending time with her! We will definitely use her again!”

“Martin has been phenomenal with my dog Goose. He is always on time and takes him for long walks around our neighborhood. Goose is a bit timid but has warmed up to Martin. I would recommend Martin for any dog walking needs!”

About: I have owned and loved dogs my entire life. I've had Labs (I currently have a Golden/Lab mix named Joey! He has ALL of the Golden retriever energy), Greyhounds (RIP sweet Gloria and Cougar!), Austrailian shepherds, and German shepherds as my own and/or family pets, and am very comfortable with high energy, big breeds. I love giving extra smart dogs some fun mental challenges to keep them occupied, and of course am happy to rub bellies for as long as the dog requests. I love the high energy and silly quirks of smaller dog breeds too! I've house sat and cared for animals off and on for over a decade, but have just recently reactivated my Rover profile and am looking to accept new clients. I work part time as a yoga instructor, and homeschool my kiddos. My schedule is VERY flexible, and I am often able to pick up day-of requests. I've a Type-A scheduler too though, so I love some advanced notice! I can't imagine my life without pets and feel strongly that a home just doesn't feel like a home without pets. I will treat your pets just like a family member, because that's exactly who they are! I love specific requests, and accomodating exactly what your pet is used to so they don't feel lonely or confused.
About: Hi there! I’m Myriam, a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler who has a deep love and passion for dogs. We’ve created a space in our daily routine to not only care for our own pets but also open our home to other dogs who need a loving environment. I believe in treating every dog like part of our family, and I’m excited to offer them a safe, structured, and active experience while they stay with us. At our home, dogs get plenty of attention, exercise, and love. I’ve also created time in my day to help with training, whether it's reinforcing basic commands or working on any behavioral issues you’d like me to focus on while your dog is with us. I understand how important it is for dogs to feel at ease in new environments, and my goal is to ensure they feel comfortable and happy throughout their stay. I am a stay at home homeschooling mother with children who LOVE to play with dogs. We are able to keep your dog loved walked played with and engaged. We do one long hour and a half walk in the morning and a 30 minute walk in the evening. During the day we let them out to play in our enclosed yard and also if they need to take potty breaks. During the days your dog will be with us, he/she will have access to a large, fully fenced yard where they can run, play, and relax in a safe, open space. To provide the best care for your furry babe I’d love to know a few important details ahead of time. Could you please share the following: • Diet and Feeding Schedule: Any specific food, treats, or feeding times? • Medical Needs: Are there any health issues, medications, or allergies I should be aware of? • Temperament: How does your pet interact with new people, and other animals, and how does your dog do on walks? • Exercise Routine: Are there specific walking, play, or exercise routines they enjoy? I go for a long morning walk and a shorter evening walk. I usually let the dogs out during the day for short potty breaks and to play in the yard. I use kennels to help them during the day dealing with unfamiliar dogs can be overstimulating so I give them breaks every three hours or so. • Special Comforts: Does your doggy have a favorite toy, blanket, or activity that helps them feel at ease? • Training Commands: Any commands or cues they’re familiar with? Your insights will help me make sure your pet feels happy and safe while you’re away!

About: I have had a dog since I was 9 years old and he's the best! I'm home alone with him a lot and I have fed, walked, and hung out with him hundreds of times. I have been asked by many family members and friends to walk and take care of their dogs for several years as well. I am home and on a gap year right now so I have a lot of time on my hands. My best times to walk or care for a pet would be any time between 9AM and 8PM. I really like playing with dogs! I definitely take a relaxed approach to taking care of dogs while also giving them instructions and having fun with them!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Evanston
Abigail has been so great and such a huge help to us! She’s been walking our puppy and checking on our senior cat. She’s very communicative and quick to respond and takes great pictures! We will continue to use Abigail’s services confidently for both of our pets.

Victoria was great! We decided last minute to visit Chicago for the day, but we had our dog with us. She took Jax to the park and played with him while we were able to shop around and do all the things we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise. She was very communicative and sent photo updates while we were away. Jax loved her and had so much fun!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
