We couldn’t recommend Katrina more! Not only did our dog love her, she was great at communication and always let us know if there was anything she noticed or was concerned about while she walked and checked in on Nutmeg. It was a relief to know that she was in good hands while we were at work.

About: I have been taking care of dogs and cats for over 10 years. I have walked a family of 3 pugs and cared for a many a shy and finicky cat. I have volunteered at PAWS animal shelter in the past and I have experience with both small and medium-sized puppers! In addition, I lived with a very skittish tuxedo cat for 17 years and I became the only human he would come close to. I work during the week but have Monday mornings, most evenings, and weekends free, so I am happy to be your dog’s part-time walker or a regular cat-sitter! I love playing with dogs and taking them for longer walks. I also love cats and I don’t mind administering medications, special feeding instructions, or spending a longer time with an energetic dog or lonely cat that may need more attention.

About: I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember! I have worked in an animal shelter and vet clinic as a veterinary assistant caring for a variety of animals. I have had the privilege of fostering 100 animals (mostly neonatal and orphaned kittens!). I currently have three cats and an 18 year old Crested Gecko. Two of my cats are fosters that never left- both have cererbellar hypoplasia, or better known as wobbly cat syndrome! I have pet sat for many kinds of animals including cats, dogs, guinea pigs and reptiles. I can’t wait to meet your furry friend! Please note: I do not use flexi/retractible leashes to ensure safety. I am happy to bring my own slip lead or standard leash. Please, let me know if you have questions! I work from home and have a flexible schedule! I typically have afternoons and weekends free. I would love to learn more about what your pet’s specific care needs are! I want to hear all about your pet! What do they like, what don’t they like? What are their quirks and preferences? I want to learn about them because I want to make sure I am caring for them the way you would.

About: I have taken care of dogs ever since I was 15. I am loving and outgoing which makes dog walking and sitting great for you and your four-legged friends. Pets are our family and that’s exactly how I treat them; respect and love. I have administered medications and trained my own two dogs who are 11years old. Looking forward to meeting your dogs and taking care of them! My work schedule is very flexible. I am hybrid but I pick which days I go in and which days I’m home. My husband works from home so it makes pet sitting easier so your fur babies always have someone around. I will treat your pets like my own animals. I can take them to the dog park, play with them, feed them and provide them with lots of love.

Alondra is truly amazing. This was my first time leaving my fur baby with someone other than my parents, so I was naturally a bit anxious. Alondra came to our home to meet us and spend time with Olaf, and he took to her right away—which immediately put me at ease. On the first day, our tenants let us know that Olaf seemed distressed, yawning excessively and howling. He’s just not used to being alone. I quickly arranged for a friend who lives nearby to pick him up, and reached out to Alondra to see if she could adjust the pick up/ drop-off location. Without hesitation, she agreed. That level of flexibility and care really showed her commitment to making sure Olaf was safe and comfortable. Thank you so much, Alondra!

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Skokie. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Skokie. On Rover:

  • 91% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
