“Kit was incredibly thoughtful and made sure to ask me questions about my pets’ needs that hadn’t even occurred to me to share. She sent lots of pictures and updates on my cats throughout my trip so I knew they were well taken care of. Could not recommend her more!!”

About: When I'm sitting, I'm not just checking to clean the litter box and refill the kibble, I'm actively engaging with my furry friend to make sure they're excited to see me, working out their pent up energy, and content to be alone until they see you again. Pet-sitting is more than just maintenance, it's caring for a loved one, and I have lots of love to give! I work remotely so my schedule can be somewhat flexible when taking the pet's needs into consideration! I can work from your house if need be or swing by periodically throughout the day, whatever works best for the pet. I cat-sit often and I keep the areas under the bed and sofa clean and free of dangerous items since this is where the cats often hide; additionally, I remove access to any small nooks or high areas where it would be difficult to remove the cats.
“Andrew was fantastic with our cats, and knowing they were in such good hands really allowed us to relax and enjoy our vacation. We have a 1 year old and a 20+ year old, and he did a great job giving each what they needed, whether more play or more snuggle time. He sent us daily photos that showed how relaxed and at ease they were with him, and both seemed happy and confident when we arrived home. We plan to use Andrew again for all upcoming trips!”

“MELINA IS THE BEST! I was gone for two weeks and she made daily visits to my fur baby. Mind you my cat isn’t the friendliest but she made sure he was well fed and looked after. She was so patient and friendly and made the process so smooth. She sent me photos and updates daily that made me feel so relieved being out of town for so long. Definitely rebooking her each time and recommending her to everyone!!! You fur baby is safe with her! Thank you so much Melina!! 10/10”

“The best! I had screwed up some details on our “drop in” appointment and Karina was beyond understanding and flexible to some last minute changes. Great communication and our pets loved her! 100% will book again!”

“Parisa is a godsend! Amazing communication and availability- makes it super easy to schedule. Our pup loves Parisa’s visits (sometime too much when she pees from excitement!). We have a lot of guilt leaving to go to work, but knowing Parisa’s coming gives us such peace of mind. Beyond that, Parisa is super patient with our often stubborn dog. We struck gold finding her.”

About: I have had a variety of pets and have cared for a variety of animals (dogs, cats, birds and a turtle). A variety of breeds and ages. I am available most weekdays after 4pm. I am available most Saturdays in the AM and PM. I also am available Sunday afternoons and evenings. I make sure my dog has plenty of food and fresh water throughout the day. I take her outside to go to the bathroom in the morning and right when I come home. I take her on a walk. I play and cuddle with her a lot.

“Amanda was wonderful with our cats Sparkie and Mason! Updates and visits were consistently on time and so many great photos with some happy cats. We felt like we could trust Amanda from the start and will be booking services again in the future.”

“We are so grateful for the excellent care our cat received while we were away for two weeks over Christmas and New Year’s. Communication was clear and consistent, updates were reassuring, and it was obvious our cat was well cared for and comfortable the entire time. Traveling over the holidays can be stressful, and it was such a relief knowing everything at home was handled with care and reliability. We would absolutely book again and highly recommend.”

About: I’ve been caring for cats since I was 13, and watching dogs since I was 10! I love all animals, of all sizes and temperaments! I’m currently working about 20 hours a week, so I have plenty of time in the mornings and evenings, as well as Sunday/Monday completely free! My roommates currently foster cats with chronic illnesses, that are kept in their room and away from any possible visitors! We have plenty of space, and lots of access to good walking routes.
“Nicholas was the best! His care for my feisty cat was amazing. I especially appreciated his updates and good communication about the particulars, and he also attended to details. He went above and beyond and all respects.”

“This is the second time I’ve had Lisa watch my cat and she did a great job again. Very attentive to detail and makes sure my cat is entertained and happy before she leaves. Will continue to book with her!”

“Brenda is amazing and leads with kindness and care for my cat! My cat is typically shy and reserved around new people but quickly warmed up to Brenda. Will be booking again for sure!”

“This is our second time using Faye and we couldn’t be happier with the attention and care she gives to our pets. She has taken on the challenge of handling our special needs cat who needs medicine AND diaper changes and caring for our very eccentric birds. We will be sure to request her help any time we are out and if she’s available!”
“Tiffany checked in on my cat, Tofu, while I was gone on a week long trip. She was very communicative and sent lots of cute pics. She brought an issue with our automatic feeder to our attention and went above and beyond to help us trouble shoot the issue. Tofu loved Tiffany and we will be booking her again in the future”

About: My first pets were 2 rats. I took care of them exclusively, bathed them, fed and cleaned up after them. The family cat Simba was mainly my responsibility with occasional help from family, and I would take care of our family dog Bentley when I was home for summers from college. I've helped care for several other animals when babysitting children, and occasionally dog sat overnight for other families over a 3 day weekend period. I've also loved my time volunteering at the local dog shelter where I walk, clean up after, and play with all the dogs up for adoption until they find their forever families. Also enjoyed a 6 week program at a dog shelter in Athens, Greece in 2024! I’m working part and full time depending on the week, but have most availability on weekends and later in the afternoons. Happy to do house sitting as long as the dogs can be alone for up to 6 hours on the days I work! I care for all pets as if they were my own, making sure they have all the attention and care they need and then some.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Skokie
Mia was an absolutely wonderful cat sitter! From the very first visit, it was clear she genuinely cares about animals — my cat warmed up to her quickly and was clearly comfortable in her care. Mia was reliable and punctual every single visit, and she kept me updated regularly with photos and notes, which gave me such peace of mind while I was away. She went above and beyond with little extra touches that showed real attentiveness. I'd recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring cat sitter.

Angie and her daughter Josie were very sweet and thoughtful. I hired them to do drop-in visits twice a day for recently-adopted kitty. I was concerned that Peep would regress from being left only a month after we adopted him, but he thrived under their care. I would happily hire them again!

Rosy was great! Both of my cats need pills and one is particularly adept at hiding in general, so we were worried about how he would react. She tried various strategies to get a pill in him, and even though it was unsuccessful in the end, I really appreciated her tenacity. She sent pictures and very reassuring updates after each visit.

Ingrid was so great with our cat Binky, and having her coming to the house for drop-in visits while we were away gave us SO much calm and peace of mind! She knew how to interact with our cat and really got to know him on his own terms. She took care of everything while we were away and went above and beyond in ways both big and small. Ingrid was always on time and kept in touch with great updates and photos so we always knew Binky was well taken care of, happy, and content. Thanks so much for all of your help taking care of our precious kitty!!

This was my first time leaving my girl, Aquavit, and leaving her with Liz soothed all my nerves. She’s attentive and patient, and treats your pet like they’re her own. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and you won’t find a better pet sitter than her.

I hired Riley at the absolute very last minute and she accommodated me and made sure our three cats were well taken care of. She communicated quickly and politely, and responded to our requests on the fly. We sincerely appreciate her love for animals and will look to hire her first for the next time we travel.
Our 6 month old puppy cuddled up with Revan after only a few minutes and I was convinced she really is the dog whisperer. Our cat came out to see her too! It's very rare that our cat comes out when a new person is in the house. We are excited to have Revan housesit next month and know our babies will be in the best possible care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Skokie. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
