“Elva is absolutely great. She is conscientious, thoughtful and helpful. She did such a nice job with our 5 month old bulldog and taught us a few ways to break her of some bad habits.”

“Catherine took really great care of our dog. Left very excellent and detailed notes on the visits and also took great pictures and we felt very safe and secure that she was watching our family pet.”

“Jeanette was very detail oriented and thourough during her drop in visits for our cats. I felt that they were in very good care while we were gone!”

“Katy is very responsive during the meet & greet process and while on home visits. Katy cared for my three dogs while I was on vacation, with multiple visits daily. Katy sent multiple pictures at each visit and always gave me an update on how they were doing and how it was going. I could tell from the photos that they were happy and well cared for. I came home to three happy, healthy pups and that means the world to me. I would happily have Katy care for my crew again and would definitely recommend her.”

“Ann is an amazing sitter! She’s cared for my pups on several occasions while I am out of town, each a very positive experience. Very dependable, responsive, and communication was great. I returned home to everything in perfect order and two very happy pups. I would absolutely recommend Ann to friends and continue booking with her in the future.”

“Nicholas did a great job looking after my cat. She was always very shy and he would make sure to find where she was which would sometimes take a bit longer as she found new hiding spots. He completed all tasks that I asked of him. He was always on time and very professional.”

About: I grew with a 60lb English Bulldog who had a rambunctious spirit. With him I learned the special needs from particular breeds. Later I had a 5 lb Yorkie. She was a sweetheart that wanted nothing more than to be by your side. They were the best around. I am happy to walk your dog(s), run them in the yard, or spend time with them indoors to break up the time they spend alone. I’m also happy to stop by to feed your cats and give them some one on on time. I like to work within my community. It builds trust between both parties. I’m a college student continuing in the fall. My hours are flexible until then. While I don’t house your pets, I am able to tend to them in your home. I can check a litter box, handle feedings, play with them, and run them in your fenced yard. I’m happy to walk them through their neighborhood or to take them for long walks to a local park. We can tailor the visit to their specific needs.
About: Hello, my name is Hannah. I am a part time art instructor and online Art Therapy student. I prioritize attentiveness and timeliness in my teaching as well as dog walking and sitting. I love all animals, have dog walked locally on and off since I was in middle school, and have had a dog of my own for 10 years. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. I am an active person and look forward to taking your pet on frequent walks, or even runs! I’m currently working part-time and attending online school, so I have a lot of availability for overnight dog sitting, as well as many walks and drop-ins throughout the day. Besides a few mid-day classes and teaching the occasional night class, my schedule allows me to be very flexible. I treat all pets the way I would want my own dog, Sailor, to be treated. Your pets safety and happiness are my top priorities! I aim to create a stress free experience for you, and a fun experience for your pet.
“Patricia was so great! Helped take care of our little zoo of ferrets, chickens, lizard, fish and a cat. Our ferret needed daily medicine which was super important and Patricia was so reliable we didn’t have to worry! She was thorough and communicated well, plus shared cute pics of our critters too… would highly recommend!!”

About: I live in Edison Park, but work in McCook/Chicago during the day/week or sometimes from home. I manage my time really well, so I can make anything early in the morning,/on my lunch break work- plus weekends or after work. I have always had dogs my entire life. I grew up with a chocolate lab mix, then when she passed away my family got a three legged black lab and a chesapeake bay retriever. Then, when I was in college, a chocolate lab climbed into my car and after months of trying to find his owners, I decided to keep him. Those puppies have since passed, but our family has 2 giant black labs currently. I’ve also had 4 Guinea Pigs who I loved dearly. I currently work from home part of the time and love four legged angels (sometimes 3, I had a 3 legged dog growing up). I am available in the early mornings, evenings and on the weekends consistently, but can work out weekday daytime availability with advanced notice. I make sure the animals all have the appropriate food/water setups at all times (per owners instructions depending on pet’s specific needs), as well as making sure the temperature is comfortable for the pet. I prioritize exercise and bathroom breaks for each pet. There is never a lack of social interaction when I am around. Pretty much, I view pets as family and think they deserve the best. If they have specific requirements, I will always follow whatever rules the owner requests and talk through any concerns before booking.
“Pamela is fantastic! We really appreciate how kind, consistent, and trustworthy Pamela is with our pet. The pictures that she sends during her visits help us feel at ease and know that everything is ok at home. Thank you!”

About: I volunteered at PAWS Chicago, walked dogs at Chicago K9 Rescue, and lived and cared for a cat in the past. Super comfortable around animals. I’m a college student on break for the summer, so there isn’t much going on day to day; my schedule is very flexible. I will be patient with your pet and try to make things as comfortable as possible for him/her. I will also respect your home and any rules you set for your house.
“Elizabeth took such excellent care of our dog Max. She was attentive, friendly and caring towards Max. She gave me an update on Max each time she visited and how their walk went. I was at ease knowing Elizabeth was taking care of Max for us. It made for a relaxing vacation!”

“Cassandra did a great job dropping-in on my dogs. She made sure they were happy and fed and provided through updates including photos. I would definitely have her take care of my pet in the future.”

“Michael was great! Our pup has some aggression and resource guarding and I was nervous about using a service. Michael’s calm demeanor put him at ease immediately. We will definitely be asking Michael to check-in and walk our pup again!”

“Best sitter ever! Helped our anxious dogs through a week of our absence and allowed my family and I to enjoy a vacation and family wedding with ease! Thank you SO much, Yazmin!”

About: Well, I may not be the worlds best, but I sure try to be! Family, friends, and neighbors have trusted me to give their pets the care and love they deserve for years. I’m currently staying close to home to take care of my mother, so your pet will never be left alone. I will have time to walk or check up on your pets however often is needed as well. I like to make sure that your pet has a happy and safe time in my car. I pay great attention to detail in my care for animals and can follow any additional instructions. I have also had several different kinds of pets myself, so I have a wide experience with all kinds of pets.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Park Ridge
This was my first time leaving my cat with someone, so I was honestly a little nervous. But Jillian made the whole experience so easy and stress-free. She took such good care of him, kept me updated, and I could tell he was in great hands. Coming home and seeing him happy and relaxed meant so much to me. I’m really grateful for everything she did and would definitely trust her again. I highly recommend her!

Katherine was an excellent choice for a drop in visit for our two cats! She is very attentive and interested in getting to know their specific personalities and needs. One of our cats needs insulin shots and I felt reassured with her skill set. The Rover Card was thorough and the many photos were appreciated. I will be using her in the future and I would highly recommend!

Ellie was an incredible caregiver for our cats. She always went the extra mile during our trip, and was responsive at all times. One of our cats is a bit of a handful, and Ellie cared for him with ease (and lots of love). We are thankful to her for all of her hard work and attention. We can’t recommend Ellie more highly!

Helen was awesome! Our cat is very anxious and requires a transdermal medicine and Helen was able to handle our cat really well. She was able to give proactive updates about her. She was thorough in understanding our cat's needs. We will be booking with her again for sure!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Park Ridge. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
