“Great experience with Alex! Communicative and flexible when booking, thoughtful and accommodating to my pup’s needs, and her warm and caring spirit quickly put both my anxious dog and I at ease ☺️”

“Andrew stayed in our home for a week He took good care of the litter boxes snd was respectful of the space. His very laid back, “chill” demeanor was perfect for our 2 cats. Andrew was very also observant and in tune with their needs and moods. He contacted me on a regular basis and sent me photos of his little charges. We intend to use his services again and highly recommended him to anyone in need of a cat sitter.”

“Katherine was the absolute best! I felt so comfortable leaving my fur babies with her and she did an amazing job keeping me updated with photos and notes. I’ll use her again for sure!”

“Jewel was wonderful with my dog, Marshmallow, when I had to travel out of town for a few days. I was a little uncertain how Marshmallow would get along with Jewel’s puppy, Maya, since she hasn’t had a lot of socialization to date, but they hit it off wonderfully, whether running and playing or just snuggling. It speaks to Jewel’s real love of animals and ended up being an extra bonus for Marshmallow to get some play time with another dog. I think Marshmallow wants another playdate soon!”

“Katelyn was so great with our 2 cats over the Thanksgiving holiday especially since we were first timers with Rover. She made the process so easy and sent us updates and videos everyday. Katelyn comes highly recommended.”

“Tiffany was a fantastic house sitter for our 9-month-old puppy! She was responsive, professional, and made sure our dog felt comfortable and well cared for while we were away - which gave us great peace of mind. We will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!”

“Sade was a great sitter for our dog and cat! We felt at ease the whole time we were away. Sade sent daily photos and updates and was easy to communicate with. We came home to happy pets and a very clean apartment. We’d definitely have Sade sit for our dog and cat again!”

“Hillary is a fantastic Rover mom. She is more than prepared, diligent, informed, and she was more curious about Winnie as an individual dog than I have ever encountered before on Rover. It made us feel really good, and was just a lovely experience at the Meet and Greet. She made us feel SO at ease leaving our home and our Winnie with her. We have already rebooked with her and she just left yesterday because she did every single thing we asked when it came to Winnie, and she was so respectful of our home. We HIGHLY recommend Hillary! Cannot say enough good things!”

“Shailyn stayed at our home for 4 nights and took great care of the house and our beloved Lucky!! Neighbors said Lucky looked very happy on his walks while we were gone. Very thankful for her giving Lucky lots of love while we were gone!”

“Dylan was amazing with our Dobermans Storm and Damen!!! He stayed with them in our home and not only was he great with them and they loved him. Thank you and we will definitely be reaching out to Dylan again!!!”

“Samantha went above and beyond for our giant Newfie. She was very communicative and sent photos and offered to stay a bit longer with him the day we were flying back home. She administered medication and made sure he ate at the right times. He’s also a big mess (slobber and shedding) and I was shocked when I walked in - it was obvious she cleaned up after him which I was not expecting. She was truly amazing :)”

“We are so happy with Sophie and Corey! They gave our fur baby meds as instructed, fed, walked and hung out with her the whole time we were away. We are definitely going to book with them again in the future.”

“Tessa was great with our dog Charlie while we were away for several days, making sure he had walks each day, spending time with him, sending us pictures, and looking after our house and yard. When we returned home, it was clear Charlie had been well-cared for, as he wasn't at all anxious or overly-"clingy," as he has been in the past after separation for a few days. We'd highly recommend Tessa.”

About: My names Gail! I am 26 years old and look to make some new furry friends. I have experience watching family dogs, friend’s dogs, and anyone who needs help. I have watched dogs in my home for as long as two weeks. I have gone to the clients house to watch the dog/cat or I pop in to make sure they are fed, go to the bathroom, and make sure they are walked and played with so they don’t feel lonely. I have my own way of transportation and super flexible in times. I can provide bowls and leashes if needed. I can give you updates as reassurance if necessary. I love being around dogs and cats! I love playing with them and making them feel at home (: I currently work about 5-6 days a week. I do choose my own schedule at the end of the week, so I am very flexible on time! I have my own car, so I am able to get around very easy. I am able to put puppers in or out of crates if needed! I am able to distribute any medications to pets. Making sure the pets feel safe and comfortable while their family is out of town!
“Bridget was the best dog sitter we have ever had (that is saying a lot because we have had him for 11 years)! She communicates with us the whole time and sent a ton of great photos. Our dog has some special needs (arthritis and doesn’t love other dogs) and she handled it perfectly. We will book her for all future vacations and dog walks.”
“We are so happy to have found Annie. We have a 4 year old lab/doberman mix, Luna, who is very sweet, but anxious. As a result, we are not comfortable boarding her and we have been restricting our travel so that we don't leave her behind. We recently booked Annie to stay with Luna while we were away for a week, and we could not be happier with the live of care and attention that Luna received. Annie stayed in our house with Luna and we received daily updates on how and what they were doing while we were gone. It was so easy to communicate with Annie both before and while we were away - she was very responsive, and asked questions if she needed any clarification. When we got home, both Luna and our home were in great shape. We will definitely use Annie again for future travel, and feel very lucky to have found someone who gives us peace of mind that our fur baby is in good hands while we are away.”

“Han did a wonderful job! So happy we found them! Our furry family was well taken care of, and so was our home. Looking forward to working with them again in the future!”

Shailyn graciously agreed to come sit with our anxious dog on short notice which we greatly appreciated. She offered to come over early to have more time to meet with Zoey before our scheduled departure time. Shailyn has a wonderful calm and peaceful energy and it was clear that Zoey was happy in her company. We would absolutely have Shailyn back to care for our dog.

Claude house-sat and took care of our three doggos for five nights, and everything went amazingly! The communication and photos were great, and they just made us feel comfortable throughout the process. They also watered our garden and did other above-and-beyond tasks. We’ll definitely use them again!

Tasha is our absolute favorite! She is reliable, intelligent, considerate, conscientious, and the glowing review goes on and on! I have been a fur momma for 20 years, and I can without a say she’s one of the best! I can enjoy my time away knowing that my animals are safe and sound AND loved on 😊Our cats Frankie and Maple adore Tasha, and so do their parents! 😊🙃👌🏼

Kelso made me feel at ease while watching my chihuahua, Selena, while I was out of town. I was very nervous having someone new come in that I didn’t know seeing as my ex always watched my dog for me in the past. This was my first time hiring someone. She gave me updates with pictures and videos that I loved! Great communication throughout the stay. Selena enjoyed her company as well and I will definitely use her in the future as long as she is available! 10/10 would recommend her to anyone I know looking for a sitter. Thanks kelso!

Revan cared for our puppy and cat with such care and love. We feel so lucky to have found her. I was very hesitant to leave our 7 month old puppy for two weeks so Revan came over to meet our pup in advance. When I saw how comfortable and happy she was with Revan, I felt so much better. Revan kept up us up to date every day and when the pup had some gastrointestinal issues, she made chicken and rice for her. We came home to a spotless house and two well-loved pets. Revan truly went above and beyond, making the care of our pets her priority rather than a side gig. She was present with them, kept them on their schedules, and gave our very athletic pup tons of exercise every day. We highly recommend Revan!

Madeline was fantastic! Our dog was immediately smitten with her. Not only was Madeline attentive to all of the instructions I shared with her, but she was also flexible when it came to scheduling, since we didn’t know how long we’d be gone for. I’d highly recommend Madeline as a responsible, dependable, and caring sitter for your pets!

Emily is terrific! She is a true animal lover and pays close attention to my dog, making her feel comfortable and happy. Emily also took great care of our plants and house while we were on vacation. I highly recommend her. She will be your pet’s next best friend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Skokie walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Skokie maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Skokie choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
