“Dylan was a lifesaver when we had another cancellation at the last minute. He was professional and great with our senior pup. We'd definitely work with him again.”

“Gabi’s services were 100% awesome. We have a quirky dog and she came over once a week for a few months before we left to get our dog comfortable with her. She kept us informed and went above and beyond to make us feel secure when leaving our home and pets in her care. She also kept our house as clean as we left it! Very diligent and respectful.”

“Ellie watched our german shepherd Ryder over night at our house while we went to our wedding. We couldn't be happier with Ellie and the whole process. Ryder got to stay at his own house and Ellie was a perfect sitter for him! Will definitely recommend her to anyone who needs dog sitting and will be using her in the future. Thanks!”

“Super impressed! Billy is blind and Maggie is recovering from a sprain. I felt like I had the dog whisperer in my house. She is so clean!! She literally pulled the sheets off the bed before she left.”

“Our one cat is not a cuddler, but we have numerous pictures showing him cuddling with Diane. She comforted our Senior cat in the middle of the night, and bonded with our two dogs. We could not be happier!”

“Kaleigh went above and beyond to help my sick kitty girl. My cat normally has medications, but at the last minute Kaleigh had to give an antibiotic twice a day plus the other medications injected orally. She did it with ease and flexibility. I could tell my cat really liked her since she was so happy in the photos she sent me. She even came by after she was done to make sure my cat wasn’t suffering without the AC on. She’s wonderful, caring and so reasonable. I highly recommend her.”

“Donna and Stephen are outstanding! Our 50 pound Aussie rescue can be anxious and they took the best care of him. We truly appreciated that they were so kind and understanding in taking care of him. Upon meeting Donna and Stephen, our dog took to an immediate liking which is always a good sign. Donna and Stephen sent us pictures and updates and it was so nice to be away and be relaxed without any concerns. They left our house better than when we left it and we look forward to hiring them in the future!”

“Hannah stayed at our house for 10 days with our two dogs while we were on vacation. Her schedule was flexible, and she was able to let the dogs out frequently, play with them often, and take them on walks. I really appreciated this, since they are used to us working from home. She was also able to follow my detailed instructions (one dog is an older puppy). I would have appreciated more frequent communication and photos, especially since we were gone for so long, but she answered my messages right away.”

“Desiree did a fantastic job caring for our cats. She was attentive, followed our instructions meticulously, and eased our worries about being away from them for the first time. Her regular updates, including texts and photos, really reassured us. Thank you, Desiree! We’ll definitely be using your services again.”

“Casey was amazing! She took the time to learn about my dogs and their needs before her stay. She asked great questions about their personalities, behaviors, and training. While I was away, my three dogs were well cared for and Casey took great care with my home as well. I would highly recommend Casey!”

“Jamie did a great job taking care of our sassy senior dog Barry while we went away for the weekend. This is the first time we've left Barry with someone since moving to Chicago, but we felt comfortable leaving him in Jamie's care at our home. She dealt well with his temperament (always hungry and a bit stubborn), made sure he got plenty of walk time, and provided the extra attention he needs. We will definitely have her back again.”

“Joanna did a fantastic job caring for our dog and cat while we were away. Lots of pictures and videos! She was very responsive to our messages when we had a momentary panic about scheduling. She reassured us all would be well and it was. Thanks Joanna!”

“Stephanie is truly exceptional. This was our first time entrusting all four of our pets and our home to someone else, and she exceeded every expectation. From the very first interaction through the entire stay, she was consistently available, highly responsive, and incredibly thorough with her updates. What impressed us most was how quickly our pets felt at ease—something that speaks volumes about her care, attention, and natural connection with animals. She earned not only their trust, but ours as well. Stephanie delivers a level of professionalism and peace of mind that is simply outstanding. We cannot recommend her highly enough, and we will absolutely check her availability before planning any future trips.”

About: I’ve taken care of many pets in my lifetime from family members on vacation to friends who needed me to take care of their pet overnight! I’ve taken care of senior animals to young pups/kittens! Im currently working “per need” at a hospital so I don’t get much hours. I’ll be available all if not most days of the week! Im a very respectful and communicative person. Everything is done on your rules and what you want from me as a caregiver! I’d like for your pet to feel safe and happy with me.
“Cheryl took excellent care of our two pups. She handled their challenges without issue and was very communicative throughout the stay. Highly recommend!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Niles
Kailani was so great to our 2 large dogs while we were out of state for a week! She handled their anxiety, medications, and schedule perfectly (even graciously adding on a stop-in when our flight was extremely delayed). Kailani communicates promptly and proactively offered helpful information regarding her stay/availability. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience! Kaylena followed all of Eevee’s puppy instructions perfectly—from her feeding schedule and pad training. Kaylena is reliable, respectful of our home, and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Eevee loved you! Will absolutely book again.

Emma was wonderful! She watched my two cavaliers for 12 days in my home and did a fantastic job! The girls loved her and my place was spotless when I returned home! She sent updates regularly including photos. She followed all routines and loved them like her own. 10/10 would book again! 🩷🩷

Emma was absolutely wonderful with my fur baby boxer while I was away. She responded quickly, was always on time, and was very communicative throughout my trip, which gave me so much peace of mind. Bridget was happy, well cared for, and clearly loved spending time with her. I would definitely book with Emma again — highly recommend!

Emilee was awesome. She's super professional, and very warm and friendly and the cats were definitely pampered. She sent me several cute photos of the cats during her stay and when I got home they were so chill and the house was immaculate. I would highly recommend her.

I am sorry I waited a week before leaving this review; it took me a week to settle back into my life and to observe my dog, Clyde, after I had left him in the care of another sitter and Nicholas for four days each. My primary goal in booking through Rover was to ensure the care of Clyde. I am very pleased with Clyde's condition and energy in the week I have been home. As his care was split between two sitters, I would have to say that both gave him the attention and care that he needed. My other goal was the care of my house which, I believe, was also excellent. Highest marks to Marny and to my other sitter.

Christina did a great job taking care of Cubby while we were away for a weekend. She kept us updated with photos and updates of feeding and bathroom breaks. She has also been doing excellent work with drop-ins during the week. We highly recommend Christina and we’ll continue our partnership with her as long as we can!

Hannah stayed at our house for 10 days with our two dogs while we were on vacation. Her schedule was flexible, and she was able to let the dogs out frequently, play with them often, and take them on walks. I really appreciated this, since they are used to us working from home. She was also able to follow my detailed instructions (one dog is an older puppy). I would have appreciated more frequent communication and photos, especially since we were gone for so long, but she answered my messages right away.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Niles walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Niles maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Niles choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Niles. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
