Just got home and our girls were clearly well cared for again by Joanna. We love the pics and videos she sends. It’s so less stressful for everyone involved when our pups get stay at their own home when we travel. Thanks Joanna!

Dylan was a wonderful sitter! He was very accommodating to my last minute plans and was able to come to my house to sit my dog Sabu. I think Sabu really enjoyed his time with him and I would recommend him to any pet parent!

About: I unfortunately wasn’t allowed to have pets until I was older. I adopted my first pet (a cat) at 19 and she’s still with me! With the addition of 5 other cats as well since my family moved in with me😭. Although 2 of those cats are technically not mine, but one of family members, I still care for them all the same. I have also fostered kittens before and helped potty train them as well as bottle fed them. I have some experience giving medication to my cats for a short time; no long term medications as of now. —————————————————— I have pet sit for my friends whom are mostly fellow cat owners. For them, they usually just ask me to drop by during the day or evening to feed and change their litter and spend some time around them. I’ve taken care of my friends dog who doesn’t go on walks, so I would let her out in my friends yard to use the bathroom and then she’d come right back in to lay on the couch. I have several family members that are dog owners and I’ve been around them playing with them and occasionally went on walks with them or helped feeding them. But I’ve never officially taken care of them with out the owners being there. ——————————————— Although I am more of a cat person, I do get along with dogs! With cats I have 6 or so years of experience and with dogs I have about 2 years of experience. When visiting your home, I will take care of your home and leave things as they were!! If there any instructions you would like for me to follow, I will gladly read them, whether that’s for the fur babies or the house itself! I’m currently working part time so my schedule is pretty flexible and since my family currently lives with me they help take care of my own cats if I leave town. I typically work Wednesday and Friday afternoons and I’m free after 5:30pm, I do work weekends but I’m normally available after 4:00 pm and can stay overnight if needed. I’m normally off Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays so I can come by more during those days, but any day during the week I can fit in dropping by, specially in the afternoons! Since I currently live with family and 6 cats I understand most other pets might not immediately get along with 6 new animals, so I can always drop by or stay at your place to take care of your fur babies!

Katelyn was great with our fur babies! She sent plenty of photo updates throughout the booking. She updated us about anything going on with the kids and asked questions along the way. We really appreciated her communication! The dogs loved her during meet and greet. I’m sure they wanted her to stay with all the doggy cuddle puddles! Would definitely book her again! It was so reassuring to have someone reliable, communicable, and compassionate. Made our vacation a breeze. We missed our doggos, but didn’t have to worry or stress with Katelyn!

About: Hi! My name is Helen Stefany. I’m a big animal lover and a proud dog mom of three dogs: two schnauzers (6 and 14 years old) and one fluffy French bulldog (18 months). I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from playful puppies to senior dogs who need extra attention and gentle care. I prepare homemade meals for my dogs and know how important proper nutrition and daily routines are. I am patient, responsible, and loving, and I treat every dog like part of my family. I offer overnight stays in my home, so your dog will have a safe, comfortable, and loving environment while you’re away. Puppies receive extra attention, playtime, potty training, and lots of love, while older dogs get the care and pace they need. My dream is to study veterinary medicine because I truly love animals, and caring for your dog allows me to combine my passion with hands-on experience. I can also provide updates and photos so you can see your dog happy and comfortable while you’re away. I care for my three dogs every day, which means I’m used to feeding, walking, and playing with dogs on a daily schedule. I am available for dog sitting, puppy care, and overnight stays throughout the week. My routine is flexible, so I can accommodate morning, afternoon, or evening visits, as well as full-day or overnight stays. In my home, dogs are safe, comfortable, and part of my family. I supervise them at all times, provide a secure space for sleeping and playing, and ensure they have fresh water, healthy meals, and lots of attention. For puppies, I offer extra care including playtime, potty training, and gentle guidance. For senior dogs, I provide a calm environment and help with mobility or special needs. I can also follow instructions for care in the client’s home, ensuring consistency with routines, feeding, and any special requests. I treat every pet with patience, love, and respect, so owners can trust their furry friends are in good hands.

Patrick stayed at our house for eight nights with our dog. He left the place immaculate. Our dog was excited for us to come home but not desperate, like she has been with other sitters. He was responsive with all requests and sent frequent pictures. I trust that my dog had a great time with Patrick and we'll definitely use his services in the future.

Kym was phenomenal. We were a little apprehensive leaving our new puppy because she is a little fearful but Kym was amazingly calm and patient. She came over to meet the dogs prior to booking and I was so pleased that she agreed to watch them. We have three dogs that are at very different stages of life so it could be a little overwhelming but Kym really made us feel better with the way that she interacted with all of the dogs. She was very kind and respectful, we couldn’t have asked for someone better to watch our pets while we were out. Would highly recommend and look forward to future bookings if she’ll have us!

Diane is amazing! Our dog Juni is really tough. She's petrified of strangers and sometimes nips. She's very slow to warm up and sometimes won't even let sitters let her outside. There have been times when she boycotted eating for days, and even when we have family watch her, she's often sick for days after we get back because of stress. Diane worked with Juni and treated her with kindness, patience, and understanding. She gave her space and even did some emotion/body coding work with her which I thought was really cool. She treated our house with respect and we returned to it spotless. I felt very safe and comfortable having her stay in our home, and I think Juni did too. She was in great spirits when we got back and she even had a great few days of eating, no stress sickness. We so appreciate Diane's willingness to work with her! In addition, she was very communicative and thorough when it came to the details/logistics of the stay, and came by in advance to meet us and Juni. I would recommend Diane to anyone.

About: My name is Daniella. I am 24 years old and working with animals is what my life is about. All my life I have had my own pets and I have also worked at an animal hospital for the past 8 years! I am a college graduate with a degree in Biology and I’m here to make sure your fur babies are happy and safe! I have lots of experience with animals and I love any kind. You have a cat? No problem! 5 dogs? (It’s okay I do too!) consider me to watch your lovely animals! I promise that I won’t let you down! I am currently a full time vet tech! I am free pretty much every Sunday and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons after 3pm. I am off some Mondays as well. I would love to be able to work with your schedule as well! Bringing pets into my home won’t always be an option for me but I am more than happy to stay at your home to watch your fur babies! I have 2 dogs and 2 cats myself so bringing in other pets does not always work well for my little guysz

About: I had a dog for nearly 14 years (RIP little Jockamo) and grew up with several dogs around the house. I pay attention to behaviors and how dogs try to communicate with us. I’m very patient and if you need some assistance with training, I’m willing to help out! Or if you just want someone to keep your dog company, play a bit, and go for a walk, I can do that too. If your dog will be hanging out at my home, we have a small fenced yard, so they can have some off-leash outdoor time! I do require a meet & greet prior. No last min requests please, unless I’ve previously watched your pup. I also have experience with cats and can help out with pop-in visits, but unfortunately I am not able to host cats in our home. I work from home and have a fairly flexible schedule, so being sure the dogs get enough attention and outdoor time is not a problem at all! I’m a bit of a hover mom when it comes to pets. Haha I always like to know where they are and what they’re doing to be sure they’re not getting into anything that could be harmful.

FAQs for House Sitting - Norridge

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Norridge on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 8,097 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Norridge. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Norridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Norridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Norridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norridge. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
