“This is the second time Sarah has pet sat for us, and both times she took great care of our dog and our cat, and left our house immaculate. We will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“Joanna was great! So sweet with my clingy dogs! Kept me updated throughout my trip and my dogs love her. She’s extremely knowledgeable about dogs and that put me at ease instantly. It was a great experience- I definitely recommend!”

“Coleen did an amazing job with the our three pups! Two are very nervous about new people, and they made fast friends. She kept us up to date while we were out of town and sent lots of pictures.”

“Ray took exceptional care of our dog and was communicative with updates and pics the entire stay along with being a great house and plant sitter. Highly recommended”

“Dylan was a wonderful sitter! He was very accommodating to my last minute plans and was able to come to my house to sit my dog Sabu. I think Sabu really enjoyed his time with him and I would recommend him to any pet parent!”

“Stephanie is truly exceptional. This was our first time entrusting all four of our pets and our home to someone else, and she exceeded every expectation. From the very first interaction through the entire stay, she was consistently available, highly responsive, and incredibly thorough with her updates. What impressed us most was how quickly our pets felt at ease—something that speaks volumes about her care, attention, and natural connection with animals. She earned not only their trust, but ours as well. Stephanie delivers a level of professionalism and peace of mind that is simply outstanding. We cannot recommend her highly enough, and we will absolutely check her availability before planning any future trips.”

“This was my 1st time leaving my dog for a long weekend and I couldn’t have chosen a better caregiver for him. My Murphy is a rescue & has some anxiety issues but Jo handled him with patience, understanding and love. She tapped in to her knowledge of dogs and put both myself & Murphy at ease. She tried a few new toys/treats with him which he loved and sent me plenty of pics and videos of Murphy throughout the weekend. I would highly recommend her and would definitely use her services again.”

“Anana took wonderful care of my dogs. Communication between us was excellent and my dogs were clearly taken excellent care of while I was away She also left my house in perfect condition. Highly recommend.”

“Tanisa was very communicative and kept us updated and sent lots of pics, which was especially appreciated when one of our dogs was more nervous than usual while we were gone.”

“Liz was great, she was really good with communication and photos. My dogs were calm and in good spirits when I got home, and the house looked great. I’d highly recommend Liz as a Dogsitter.”

“Hanna was fantastic with Kiwi! She was communicative and shared photos when I asked. When I got back home, the house was just the way we left it. She was very easy to work with and very kind. I will absolutely be using Hanna’s services again.”

“We had an amazing experience with Megan! She stayed at our house for a week with our two dogs and took incredible care of everything! She sent updates and it was easy to see how happy my dogs were with her. It was such a relief to trust that she had everything taken care of back home while I was out of town, I highly recommend her!”

“Veronica was so great with Tyson! She's extremely responsive and easy to communicate with. As Tyson gets older he can be a little more difficult to care for but Veronica did amazing! Highly recommend!”

“Vanessa was great! Panda and Krueger took to her right away and had no issues throughout. She sent a few photos too! She was super easy to work with. I’d book her again!”
“Renee was wonderful with our 4 pets! She house sat for us for a few days and followed all of our instructions. Everything went so smoothly. She was very considerate and was not afraid to ask questions during her stay, which I prefer. She went above and beyond taking our dogs on super long walks (which she def didn’t have to, esp in the winter weather!). I am thankful to have had Renee taking care of our animals and will def rebook in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Harwood Heights
Jo was fantastic with our older doggo. This was our first time leaving our dog since she began needing medication and special handling, and Jo made us feel so reassured. Jo was attentive and detailed oriented with medication, feeding, and potty instructions. She also went above and beyond for our girl who’s anxious during thunderstorms and fireworks. Jo was very respectful of our house by keeping it tidy, and was extremely responsive and flexible while we were away. We look forward to having Jo watch our girl again in the future and would highly recommend her!

Kailani was so great to our 2 large dogs while we were out of state for a week! She handled their anxiety, medications, and schedule perfectly (even graciously adding on a stop-in when our flight was extremely delayed). Kailani communicates promptly and proactively offered helpful information regarding her stay/availability. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience! Kaylena followed all of Eevee’s puppy instructions perfectly—from her feeding schedule and pad training. Kaylena is reliable, respectful of our home, and gave us total peace of mind while we were away. Eevee loved you! Will absolutely book again.

Chris is a true gem!!! I fully recommend him to anyone and everyone. Chris watched my 2 cats and dog for our 10 day trip. I received multiple photos every day as well as a daily recap on the happenings of the house. Chris is an excellent communicator and went above and beyond!!!

Veronica was an amazing sitter for my two dogs while the family and I were on a summer vacation. My puppy Shadow is new to me and gets into EVERYTHING. She has to be crated or monitored 24/7. Veronica paid great attention to her and communicated any unavoidable incidents promptly. Upon returning home, Shadow is calmer and more responsive to commands—better now than when I left thanks to Veronica. My special needs pitty had no new scrapes and was able to sleep in bed with her each night making the transition nearly seamless. Veronica administered medication for soft poops/diarrhea that started in BOTH dogs the day before we left and had to complaints making the puppy’s complicated fresh food dinner. We will absolutely be using Veronica in the near future for any sitting walking or boarding needs, we are all lucky to have met her :)

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harwood Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harwood Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harwood Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
