About: My name is Lauren and currently reside in Elmhurst. I am looking for pet walking jobs (or jogging) or pet sitting jobs to help supplement my income, but I also genuinely just love being around dogs. My family has had pets my entire life and I have lots of experience walking and providing care for animals. Big dogs, little dogs, rabbits, cats and even guinea pigs. I have experience raising Guide Dogs through the New Zealand Blind Foundation as well as Leader Dogs for the Blind in Michigan. I was a volunteer at the Boulder Humane Society in Colorado in my undergraduate days so I am used to all breeds/types of dogs. If you’re looking for a dog sitter or the occasional dog walk - I’d love to meet you and your pup.
“Frankie house sat for my dog for four nights and was phenomenal. She was very attentive to my dog's behaviors and needs and both communicated with me and took appropriate action combining both her initiative and my instruction. As it turns out, Frankie also has a love for birds which she directed towards my cockatiel even though she didn't have to. It was a very nice bonus. I have to believe that had there been any major issues, Frankie was the gal to handle it. Also respectful of my property/ belongings. So if you need to get out of Chicago for a while and don't want to worry about your pooch's well being, Frankie is your sitter.”

“Kayleigh took excellent care of our kitties that needed oral meds and subcutaneous fluids. She administered all meds without issue. She was professional, communicative, and great with the cats! Will book again”

“Diane is amazing! Our dog Juni is really tough. She's petrified of strangers and sometimes nips. She's very slow to warm up and sometimes won't even let sitters let her outside. There have been times when she boycotted eating for days, and even when we have family watch her, she's often sick for days after we get back because of stress. Diane worked with Juni and treated her with kindness, patience, and understanding. She gave her space and even did some emotion/body coding work with her which I thought was really cool. She treated our house with respect and we returned to it spotless. I felt very safe and comfortable having her stay in our home, and I think Juni did too. She was in great spirits when we got back and she even had a great few days of eating, no stress sickness. We so appreciate Diane's willingness to work with her! In addition, she was very communicative and thorough when it came to the details/logistics of the stay, and came by in advance to meet us and Juni. I would recommend Diane to anyone.”

“Mads stayed in our home for 9 days with our two dogs and did a great job! She was loving and attentive to our pups, always answered my texts immediately and sent pictures and updates every day. It made a world of difference to have the peace of mind she gave us. Thanks, Mads.”

“Megan is absolutely wonderful! Not only did she take amazing care of our pup, she also left our home more spotless than when she arrived and helped take care of a lapse in our internet service while we were gone. She is the definition of above and beyond. And such a joy to communicate with! I feel so comforted knowing she was with Bandit and watching over our home.”

About: I am always the girl finding a dog and asking to pet them. As a kid, my sisters and I wished for a dog and that finally came true in 6th grade. Bailey was the best Christmas present and gifted us 14 beautiful years. Throughout that time, I’ve dog sat for a range of dogs (small, large, puppy and senior). Along with dogs, I am comfortable with cats. We have 2 orange cats of our own. I am available for walks, play dates and more. I am a teacher and have the summer off. I will be tutoring and will have a lot of flexibility during the week and would love to spend some time with your pets. I am very trustworthy and will take great care of your pets in your home. I love going for walks and playing with your pups or cats.
“Dylan was a wonderful sitter! He was very accommodating to my last minute plans and was able to come to my house to sit my dog Sabu. I think Sabu really enjoyed his time with him and I would recommend him to any pet parent!”

“Liz did great !! Pups were happy & well cared for!! I wouldn’t say my dogs are hard, but I also wouldn’t say they’re the easiest. I have a five year old pup that has a lot of energy and anxiety and a 13-year-old who has G.I. issues & bone cancer. Liz did a wonderful job with both of them & I came home to wiggle butts & a clean house !! Communication was great & I’d definitely hire again!”

“Casey was fantastic! She sent lots of great photos and lovely messages about out pets when we were away. She made sure to give our dog the space she needed when she first arrived, but they quickly became good friends. Our dog can be stubborn, but Casey took her on plenty of walks and showed her lots of love. Casey took great care of both our pets. Highly recommend!”

“Nicholas is amazing! He put us at ease so we could enjoy our trip. His task was not easy! One dog prone to seizures and one dog has accidents! He was patient and kind and gave regular updates. He even fixed stuff around the house!”

“Our pup LOVES Gabi. When we returned from a 10 day trip she acted like we just took a short trip to the store. She used to have hair loss and digestive issues after a long trip. This time none of that!”

About: I have taken care of my twin labs since they were 6 months old. I potty trained them, taught them how to walk up and down stairs. I walk them twice a day, play outside with them (weather permitting) and feed them and administer meds as needed I currently work part time in the evenings so I am available every day all day and on the weekends. I am available for late night visits as well I can easily crate your dog as necessary or spend time at your house with them so they aren’t lonely. Of course if the weather is nice we will go for a couple of walks or play outside
“Took a 10 day long trip and was blessed to feel completely at ease knowing my babies were well cared for. Stephanie sent messages and videos to update us on the stay so we were always in the loop. Definitely recommend!”

“Sneydy was awesome. She took great care of our two large pit mixes. She kept me up to date while she stayed here and it was very evident when I got back that everything had been taken care of. The girls were very happy. Would happily use Sneydy in the future!”

“Loren was amazing with our dog. She is attentive and our house was spotless! She was very responsive and made us feel comfortable leaving our dog in very safe and capable hands! Highly recommend!”

Joanna was great with our dogs Carter and Kismet. She has a lot of knowledge about dog behavior. I'm especially happy with how she handled Carter, who was rescued from a puppy mill. Because of his time in the puppy mill, he is very anxious around strangers. But Joanna took her time building trust with him. By the end of her stay, Carter looked much more at ease around her in the pictures and videos she sent us.

Chris was beyond fantastic! He watched my anxious dog for four days. The first day London proved to be challenging but Chris hung in there, was uber patient, and won her over! London is fearful of rain and storms and loud noises and Chris kept her calm enough that she didn’t need any trazadone during the storms. What a feat! I have the most adorable pictures of a relaxed London and “pals for life” of the two of them. Chris stayed in communication with me, drastically reducing my stress and guilt at leaving her home. He was very conscientious and left my house very neat and clean, even cleaning up the poop in the yard! Additionally, Chris is just a truly nice and thoughtful person. I could not have been happier with his services and I plan to call on him every time and just hope he’s available. I hate to give this honest review since I’m sure people will want to snap him up!

Vanessa was wonderful with our dog, Murphy! She took great care of Murphy over a long weekend and kept us updated throughout the stay with messages and pictures, which gave us great peace of mind. Murphy seemed happy and well cared for when we got home. We really appreciated how responsible and attentive Vanessa was and would definitely use her again. Highly recommend!

A wonderful house and cat sitter! We were worried about our 6/7 week old kitten but Eren was able to help care for our kitten. We came back to a clean litter box and a happy cat! She even helped with her claws and was careful with her, and we are so grateful both our home and cat were safe with her. Highly recommend!

Emilee was awesome. She's super professional, and very warm and friendly and the cats were definitely pampered. She sent me several cute photos of the cats during her stay and when I got home they were so chill and the house was immaculate. I would highly recommend her.

Danielle was fantastic and took wonderful care of my two big dogs. She was able to fill in at short notice and kept us updated the entire time. She is punctual, thorough with care instructions, and kept the house in great shape. Will definitely re-book in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in O'Hare on Rover is $56.05 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,129 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across O'Hare. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred O'Hare walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in O'Hare maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in O'Hare choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
