“We could not ask for a better first experience. Tanya took excellent care of our new puppy. From potty breaks to play times she was there with him sending updates and pics. We were able to enjoy our night knowing he was in good hands. Thanks again.”

“Hands down one of the best sitters EVER! My cuddle bug had been going to her previous sitter for about 5 months and was still trying to warm up to them. However, after a week with Jonelle, Gina was wiggling her butt ready to go. One day she just walked into Jonelle's house without turning back to say bye or to whine. She's truly amazing and makes sure your dogs are treated as part of her family. Her family is just as great about letting your dog have space and build up comfort to bond with them. If you want someone who has great communication, is compassionate, and loves on your dogs (to the point you might consider your dog a traitor) then Jonelle is absolutely the person for you. All around a great person and sitter.”

“Janessa was absolutely amazing! Her communication to understand my dog prior made me feel so comfortable, and the attentiveness/updates while Berkeley was at her home made me feel so reassured and trusting. Janessa’s home is the perfect place for your doggo to spend time at - I absolutely recommend you choose Janessa for your fur-paninis’ needs!!”

“Jackie saved the day, offering to sit for my dog CoCo when the other sitter failed to come through for me. She is kind, thoughtful, responsible, and communicative, and I love her Black Cat! I recommend her whole-heartedly. :)”

About: I’ve been a lifelong dog lover and hands-on caregiver. I raised my own dog from the time I was 15, so I have real experience caring for a dog through every stage of life, from energetic younger years to senior care. I understand the importance of patience, routine, and paying attention to changes in behavior or health. In addition to caring for my own dog, I’ve babysat family pets many times and am comfortable with both large and small dogs. I take pet safety and comfort seriously and treat every animal as if they were my own. Whether your pet needs playtime, calm companionship, or extra TLC, I’m attentive, gentle, and dependable. Pet care is now my full-time focus, which means I have a flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to every pet in my care. I'm available throughout the week and on weekends, making it easy to accommodate a variety of schedules, including last-minute requests when possible. I plan ahead to make sure any pets in my care receive consistent attention, exercise, and companionship. Pet care fits well into my routine, and I’m reliable about sticking to schedules and instructions so your pet’s day stays as normal and stress-free as possible. When caring for pets overnight, my priority is safety, comfort, and keeping their routine as consistent as possible to your dogs needs. I make sure pets have a calm, secure environment and follow all care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, and any special needs. I’m attentive to behavior, energy levels, and comfort throughout their stay, and I never leave pets unattended for long periods of time. I keep spaces clean, pet-safe, and free of hazards, and I’m careful to respect boundaries, especially for pets who may need time to adjust in a new environment. I provide regular updates so owners feel confident and at ease while their pets are in my care. Whether your pet needs playtime, quiet companionship, or extra reassurance overnight, I treat them with patience, respect, and the same care I would give my own.
About: Hi, my name is Rick. I would like to start by saying my schedule is extremely flexible, as I am recently retired from the Office of the Chief Judge, Circuit Court of Cook County. My family and I have a home that has plenty of space to accommodate your pet. We have an 11-year-old son and also have three small dogs of our own that are extremely friendly, playful, up-to-date with all of their shots, and in great health. I believe pets complete a home. I am extremely passionate and enthusiastic about the care and needs of all types of animals. My experience in Pet Care began from having my own pets and caring for the ones of family and friends over a span of 40 plus years. I have also fostered a few dogs over the years. I have a substantial amount of experience with cats, guinea pigs, bunnies, hamsters, turtles, fish and so many others. My goal is to ensure your comfort and confidence, knowing that your pet will be loved and cared for as if it were our own. Should your pet require any medical attention or medication I am completely capable of providing this service, while in my care. We hope you consider us. I look forward to providing a caring, efficient service for your pets. My schedule is extremely flexible, as I am recently retired. For the exception of dropping off and picking up my son from school I am home all day to provide attention and care for your pet. I have a large yard with a privacy fence and three friendly, small dogs to keep your pup company. If preferred, I can easily crate your dog if needed.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs all my life! From neighbors to friends/family! It’s my favorite and brings me so much happiness! That’s why I currently own two small dogs. Im currently a stay at home mom and would love to host some different pups! My two schnauzers love making friends. It would be awesome for everyone! I walk my dogs multiple times a day and take them to my local dog park! I’m home so I’m able to focus all my attention on your little one.
“Sarah accommodated my daycare request at short notice and I couldn’t be happier to have chosen her! Both my little pups have special needs and she put me at ease with her communication and multiple photo updates. She was very thorough with understanding their care and I will absolutely use her services again next time we’re in town. Highly recommend if you are looking for a professional pet lover! Thank you, Sarah!”

“We appreciate how Sasha took such good care of our senior dog. He enjoyed meeting her dog and napping in her comfortable home. She responded quickly to our initial request, communicated clearly along the way, and sent several cute photos. I definitely recommend Sasha!”

“Arlene was such a blessing. She took our 10 month old puppy for a day. She is a ball of energy and Arlene was kind and patient with her. She was good at communicating and drop off/pick up was easy.”

“Elva and her daughter rescued my Saturday, I needed to find a sitter for my dog Sugar on just a few hours notice, and they came through for me! They took great care of her, sent a couple of pics/updates, and I'm happy to recommend!”

About: I have cared for and owned dogs since I was 10 years old. As of this past year I also cared for my senior dog giving daily medication (oral and topical). I am a mostly stay at home mom. I work 2 hours a day during the school year otherwise I am home and available to care for your pet! We currently do not have any pets in our home. We have a large fenced in yard and I can also take your pet on multiple walks during the day.
“Emily was a great sitter. She was super easy to work with. She had a great backyard setup. Our pup, Bandit, loves water and Emily had a doggy pool all set up for him. Would book with Emily again.”

“Our pup loves going to Erica and Ricardo’s for daycare. She’s an anxious girl, but she gets so excited when we pull up and runs into the house as soon as we get there. She gets lots of playtime and love, and we get cute pictures and updates. Would definitely recommend them!”

“I need a pet sitter when my dog had a surgery and have to wear a cone . Camille took Benny on a short notice. He had a great time with her and her husband Joe . He came home happy and exhausted from playing and walking. I cannot thank her enough for all the love and care they provided Benny during his stay. We are lucky to have found her . I have already recommended her to my friends . Benny will sure come back.”

“River loved her doggy day care stay with Brian. The meet and greet before was helpful and greatly appreciated as well. Would highly recommend Brian to take great care of your fur baby!”

“My shy, anxious beagle had a blast at Valerie’s, didn’t want to come home! I appreciated Valerie’s patience, flexibility, and ability to be both laidback with my pup while also giving her space to indulge her zoomies. Plus, we got lots of pics throughout the day. Thanks for a wonderful stay, will use again!”

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
