“Diane continues to be our most favorite, go-to sitter! Our dog is always happy and calm when we come home, she communicates thoroughly throughout the day, and I have 100% confidence that our dog is cared for & loved!”

About: Ever since I was a kid, I’ve just really cherished being around animals, even the ones who aren’t super cuddly. I have a lot of patience and respect for each pet’s personality and comfort level, and I do my best to make them feel safe, happy, and cared for while their people are away. I work full time during the week and try to stay busy on the weekend, but I will absolutely work my weekend schedule around you/your pet’s needs. I have a big fenced backyard and plenty of space inside for house-trained pets to relax, whether that’s on the couch, a comfy chair, or the floor. I share my home with one dog, a terrier mix named Minnie. She’s playful and friendly, but if your dog prefers to keep to themselves, I can easily keep them separated. Older dogs sometimes find her a bit too energetic, while younger pups usually have a great time playing with her.
“Miguel could not have possibly been better. He took great care of all 3 of my dogs as well as I do. He kept me up to date with messages and pictures and videos. I will use Miguel every time if at all possible.”

“Joanna was great. She obviously loves cats and knows a ton about them, which made me very comfortable leaving her in charge of my 2 guys. She sent me updates including video clips of her engaging and playing with the boys every day. Would definitely rebook”

“Justice took good care of my dog and four cats. She was very communicative and had to follow a medication regimen and somewhat complicated feeding system. I will definitely book her again when I’m next out of town!”

About: I volunteered at an animal shelter throughout high school and had two dogs of my own. My first dog, Daisy, was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I then fostered and adopted Howie, a Chiweenie, in 2020. Both have since crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and I miss them every day. I have regularly dog sat for neighbors, friends, and even professors in college. I love all animals of all shapes and sizes and would love to take care of your furry friend! I am in the Chicago area before I move to Iowa at the end of the summer. I don’t have any other commitments and could spend all my time caring for your dogs and/or cats! I am available for a range of services from dog-walking to staying overnight! Whether you just need someone to come check in on your pet a few times a day or need someone to play with them all day long, I’m your girl.
“Dylan was a wonderful sitter! He was very accommodating to my last minute plans and was able to come to my house to sit my dog Sabu. I think Sabu really enjoyed his time with him and I would recommend him to any pet parent!”

“Jamie is the best! We can always tell that she takes such good care of our dog, Kenai, when we are gone. She does a great job at accommodating his set routine, and she was kind enough to water our plants & leave our house spotless for when we got back from vacation 🥲”

“Stephanie is simply amazing. Our pups love her and she is so easy to work with, she’s great. Once we start planning a trip one of our first moves is to make sure Stephanie can house sit and pup sit our two pooches and once we know she’s able to, our trip planning always gets so much easier. Stephanie is a really hard worker and is often busy working, but when she’s staying with our pups she ALWAYS make sure she has quality time for our doggos and when we are out of town and she’s with our pups she gives us regular updates on how they’re doing, which are always very appreciated.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Brian! He stayed at our home for a full week while we were away and took amazing care of our two pets — our cat, who requires daily medication, and our older French bulldog. Both animals were happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved when we returned.”

About: I have done pet sitting in the past for family/friends but haven't been available to do so until recently because I was the sole owner/caregiver for my senior dachshund that passed in March. I'm starting grad school this year so I'm waiting to get another pet but I'd love to play with your animals and save money for school at the same time! I'm currently on a mini sabbatical before starting grad school so I will be available most days until late August after which I hope to continue offering services on my downtime (especially Friday-Sunday) I am a naturally anxious person so I would follow any instructions provided to a T! I know how nerve wrecking it is to entrust an animal to a stranger so I am happy to do whatever I can to ensure a good experience for the pet/owner
“We booked Jacee to watch our two Goldendoodles for a few days, and could not have been happier! She was great with them, communicative, personable, and all around amazing! When we got home we are pretty sure our pups were looking for her instead of us! Next time we need our dogs to be loved and cared for while we are gone, Jacee will be the one we ask! Not to mention she took great care of our home.”

“Great to work with Ashley, she truly cares and it shows. There was a ton of effort and passion put into taking care of our dog, Chewie. Easy to work with, caters to the situation, and super communicative. We would absolutely use her again!”

“We had Cheryl watch our senior dog, who had only ever been left overnight with family before, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and put my mind at ease right away. She took such great care of our dog and kept us consistently updated, which meant so much to us. We could not be happier with the experience and will definitely be using Cheryl again in the future. Highly recommend!”

About: I started pet sitting as a teenager for neighbors and family friends. Since then, I have watched all types of dogs, including senior dogs. I became a dog owner for the first time in my mid-twenties. He was an elderly beagle mix with health issues. After he passed, I grieved until I was ready to own a dog again. Then I had ten wonderful years with Shadow, a husky mix who was a stray that made his way to a rescue. He bravely fought lymphoma for 1.5 years before succumbing to the disease. Through that time, I provided medication, took him for chemotherapy, and spoiled him until he decided it was time to cross the rainbow bridge. Shadow's absence still leaves a void in my heart that is filled by caring for other people's dogs. I love all types of dogs, and have experience with small to large, young and old, as well as dogs living with various health issues. Giving dog owners the security and piece of mind knowing their furry family members are safe and sound while they are away is a responsibility that I take very seriously. My husband and I live in a dog-friendly neighborhood and our backyard is fully fenced. As a dog lover himself, anyone who books with me gets their pup double the love. My full time job is permanently remote, so I am able to be at home with your dog at all times. No matter their schedule, I can meet it because I can be here to fulfill their needs. I have a fenced in yard for safety, and a dog-friendly neighborhood where your dog will feel right at home. I know every dog has different needs, so I can follow the habits you have created with them to maintain consistency. Whether that is crate training or sleeping on the couch, I will follow your instructions. I know that dogs are family, and treat them as such.

Ariel is quiet and kind---which calms my energetic beagle and puts me at ease. She also works at a local doggy daycare so I trust she has great experience and all of her coworkers told me great things. She's super communicative and left my house clean and in the same condition as when I left (which other sitters have not). HIGHLY recommend!

I can't recommend Diane highly enough, such a caring conscientious person to take care of our home and our pets, including one very elderly cat. We could not have had the peace of mind attending our daughter's wedding abroad without her great communication and pictures throughout. A total professioal and lovely person, five stars!

Chris is a true gem!!! I fully recommend him to anyone and everyone. Chris watched my 2 cats and dog for our 10 day trip. I received multiple photos every day as well as a daily recap on the happenings of the house. Chris is an excellent communicator and went above and beyond!!!

A wonderful house and cat sitter! We were worried about our 6/7 week old kitten but Eren was able to help care for our kitten. We came back to a clean litter box and a happy cat! She even helped with her claws and was careful with her, and we are so grateful both our home and cat were safe with her. Highly recommend!

Isabella did an incredible job watching our fur babies while we were away for our wedding! She was very responsive and kind and our three cats loved her :) She was ready and willing to stay over night and to administer medications for two of them. Thank you so much Isabella!

Alma is truly incredible. Alma is my girls established walker, but went above and beyond with our first house sitting/overnight care. Alma is communicative, attentive, friendly, and I can tell she truly cares about my dog Zelda. Alma even extended her care to accommodate a flight cancellation followed by multiple delays. So grateful to have Alma in both my life and Zelda’s! 🐾

Danielle was fantastic and took wonderful care of my two big dogs. She was able to fill in at short notice and kept us updated the entire time. She is punctual, thorough with care instructions, and kept the house in great shape. Will definitely re-book in the future!

Yolanda took wonderful care of Ollie while we were away. She kept us updated with photos and messages, which we really appreciated and helped us feel at ease. Ollie needed a little time to adjust the first night, and she was very patient and kind with him. It was clear he was well cared for, and he came home happy and relaxed. We’re very grateful for the care she gave him.

We had Cheryl watch our senior dog, who had only ever been left overnight with family before, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and put my mind at ease right away. She took such great care of our dog and kept us consistently updated, which meant so much to us. We could not be happier with the experience and will definitely be using Cheryl again in the future. Highly recommend!

Ola was wonderful with my two critters. Both were perfectly chill when I came back a day early due to weather. Ola is a very calming presence which is exactly what keeps my Sunny girl and Tank the cat relaxed. Thanks so much Ola and I hope to work with you again. Happy Holidays!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melrose Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melrose Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melrose Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
