“Diane came and watched our little girl Penelope for a day so my husband and I could get out of the house. Penelope was new to Chicago and having a tough time settling in - we wanted Penelope to have someone with her while we were out to ensure she was comfortable. Diane was absolutely phenomenal from the start - an excellent communicator and made us feel comfortable right away. You can tell she is extremely expert when it comes to the care of animals. Penelope can be very shy/anxious and tends to run away/hide when she is stressed. Diane got down on the floor with Penelope and patiently waited for her to come out when she was ready. Diane sent us photos throughout the day along with updates/messages which made me feel so much better and allowed me to relax while we were out. I was amazed at how quickly Penelope warmed to Diane and felt totally confident in Diane taking care of my baby. Diane is absolutely such a wonderful person, I would recommend her to anyone and will absolutely hope to have her back!”

“Amber was absolutely amazing! We trusted her with our three fur babies—two cats and our young pit mix—and she took incredible care of them while staying at our home. During our trip, she navigated a major heat wave by making sure the pets stayed safe, limiting their time outside and keeping them comfortable. She also handled severe storms that caused a power outage and wind damage to one of our trees. Amber kept us informed every step of the way, helped manage the cleanup, and gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. She truly went above and beyond anything we expected. Knowing our pets and our home were in such capable, caring hands meant everything to us. We couldn’t recommend Amber more highly for her love of animals, her professionalism, and the exceptional care she provides for both your pets and your home.”

“Oh goodness, I don't know where to begin! Miguel is wonderful! He kept in touch with me and if he had questions on Zona's care he reached out to me for clarity. Photos were sent to me daily with days activities! My home was secure and Zona cared for with Miguel. We will definitely use him again. Thank you Miguel!!”

“This is the second time Sarah has pet sat for us, and both times she took great care of our dog and our cat, and left our house immaculate. We will definitely be using her again in the future!”

About: I’ve had pets my whole life, they’ve always held a special place in my heart. From dogs and cats to horses and more, I love getting to know each animal’s unique personality. Whether your pet loves to play, cuddle, explore, or simply enjoys calm company, I’ll care for them with the same love, patience, and attention I’d give my own fur babies! As a licensed esthetician, I create my own schedule & have the flexibility to work around your pet’s routine, making scheduling stress free for both of us. You can count on me to be dependable, respectful of your home, and to keep you updated with messages and photos, so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in loving, capable hands. Pet care has always been a natural part of my day to day routine because I’ve grown up around animals & have cared for pets for majority of my life. I work part time as an esthetician, meaning I can create my own schedule, which gives me flexibility throughout the week for walks, visits, & overnight stays! The pet’s safety, comfort, & routine would be my highest priorities. I like to take the time to learn each pet’s personality, feeding schedule, medications, favorite activities, etc so they feel secure and cared for. I have experience being around cats and dogs of all sizes, personalities, and energy levels, and I understand that every animal has different comfort zones and boundaries. Whether your pet is shy, playful, independent, or needs extra patience, I always respect their pace. I’ll l keep your home clean, follow your instructions carefully, & provide regular photo and video updates so you always know how your furry family members are doing.🐾
About: Ever since I was a kid, I’ve just really cherished being around animals, even the ones who aren’t super cuddly. I have a lot of patience and respect for each pet’s personality and comfort level, and I do my best to make them feel safe, happy, and cared for while their people are away. I work full time during the week and try to stay busy on the weekend, but I will absolutely work my weekend schedule around you/your pet’s needs. I have a big fenced backyard and plenty of space inside for house-trained pets to relax, whether that’s on the couch, a comfy chair, or the floor. I share my home with one dog, a terrier mix named Minnie. She’s playful and friendly, but if your dog prefers to keep to themselves, I can easily keep them separated. Older dogs sometimes find her a bit too energetic, while younger pups usually have a great time playing with her.
“Jamie is the best! We can always tell that she takes such good care of our dog, Kenai, when we are gone. She does a great job at accommodating his set routine, and she was kind enough to water our plants & leave our house spotless for when we got back from vacation 🥲”

“Justice took good care of my dog and four cats. She was very communicative and had to follow a medication regimen and somewhat complicated feeding system. I will definitely book her again when I’m next out of town!”

“Dylan was amazing with our Dobermans Storm and Damen!!! He stayed with them in our home and not only was he great with them and they loved him. Thank you and we will definitely be reaching out to Dylan again!!!”

“Katherine was incredibly accommodating and was very thorough to make sure she was giving Caesar the best care. She even stayed additional time to make sure Caesar had company. 100% would book again and highly recommend!”

“Milly was great! She had great communication and took wonderful care of our dog and home. The entire process was very easy and we would be happy to her book again. Thanks Milly!”

“I felt very good leaving Maisie with Annie. It was a short visit, but so helpful to me. I received pictures and updates and everything was in tip top shape when I returned home. Thank you Annnie...and Rover!”

“We cannot thank Joyce enough for taking care of our pups during our wedding. We’d hoped to find someone to watch over them during the big day, allowing them to enjoy the comforts of home - but were also super stressed about leaving them. Then as I was sitting in the makeup chair, I received a flood of photos of our pups smiling and playing, and everything just melted away in time for me to walk down the aisle. I returned to the bridal suite several times that night to check for more photos and was never disappointed. I only hope Joyce is still available by the time we plan our honeymoon! Thank you for treating Sidney and Cooper like your own, I think they might even miss you a little bit!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Brian! He stayed at our home for a full week while we were away and took amazing care of our two pets — our cat, who requires daily medication, and our older French bulldog. Both animals were happy, relaxed, and clearly well-loved when we returned.”

“Malcolm is very flexible and punctual! He gave our dogs so much attention and love. I have a reactive and anxious dog I was very worried of being away from, but she loved him and did well. He provides thorough updates and is detailed. Would recommend for dog walks and house sitting needs!”

“We had Cheryl watch our senior dog, who had only ever been left overnight with family before, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and put my mind at ease right away. She took such great care of our dog and kept us consistently updated, which meant so much to us. We could not be happier with the experience and will definitely be using Cheryl again in the future. Highly recommend!”

Christopher took such great care of our dog, Mochi. He kept us updated with thoughtful messages and great communication, which made it easy to relax while we were away. The best part was picking Mochi up and seeing how happy and comfortable he was. You could tell he was treated like family. It's not easy trusting someone with your dog, but Christopher made it feel effortless. We'd happily book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring, dependable sitter.

Noemi was an absolute rockstar!!! Not only did she accept our last minute booking, she continued the house sit when our a/c went out the morning of our trip! She still agreed to stay overnight, even when I gave her the option not to, and made sure our pets were safe in the heat, not to mention letting in the a/c guy for repairs. She was communicative, and we came back to very happy pets! I highly recommend Noemi!

A wonderful house and cat sitter! We were worried about our 6/7 week old kitten but Eren was able to help care for our kitten. We came back to a clean litter box and a happy cat! She even helped with her claws and was careful with her, and we are so grateful both our home and cat were safe with her. Highly recommend!

Isabella did an incredible job watching our fur babies while we were away for our wedding! She was very responsive and kind and our three cats loved her :) She was ready and willing to stay over night and to administer medications for two of them. Thank you so much Isabella!

Alma is truly incredible. Alma is my girls established walker, but went above and beyond with our first house sitting/overnight care. Alma is communicative, attentive, friendly, and I can tell she truly cares about my dog Zelda. Alma even extended her care to accommodate a flight cancellation followed by multiple delays. So grateful to have Alma in both my life and Zelda’s! 🐾

Danielle was fantastic and took wonderful care of my two big dogs. She was able to fill in at short notice and kept us updated the entire time. She is punctual, thorough with care instructions, and kept the house in great shape. Will definitely re-book in the future!

Yolanda took wonderful care of Ollie while we were away. She kept us updated with photos and messages, which we really appreciated and helped us feel at ease. Ollie needed a little time to adjust the first night, and she was very patient and kind with him. It was clear he was well cared for, and he came home happy and relaxed. We’re very grateful for the care she gave him.

We had Cheryl watch our senior dog, who had only ever been left overnight with family before, so I was definitely a bit nervous. Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and put my mind at ease right away. She took such great care of our dog and kept us consistently updated, which meant so much to us. We could not be happier with the experience and will definitely be using Cheryl again in the future. Highly recommend!

Ola was wonderful with my two critters. Both were perfectly chill when I came back a day early due to weather. Ola is a very calming presence which is exactly what keeps my Sunny girl and Tank the cat relaxed. Thanks so much Ola and I hope to work with you again. Happy Holidays!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Melrose Park on Rover is $27.75 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,307 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Melrose Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melrose Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melrose Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melrose Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Melrose Park. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
