“Thao and family was so great with our dog Addie! This was our first time using her and knew Addie was in great hands! She sent pics and video while we were away and Addie always looked very at home.”

“This was our first time our 6 year old dog, Kona, stayed over at another dog sitter's home. Our dog is anxious and slow to warm up to people. Jeff and Ron were very warm, welcoming, and patient with Kona. We received regular updates and pictures. Our dog was in good spirits when we picked him up. We will definitely contact Jeff and Ron in the future!”

“Deb & Doug are great! This was Jenny's 4th stay since May. She loves the attention. I'm happy that I can travel knowing that my highly dog-reactive baby is safe and secure. Jenny says see you soon - kisses and cuddles!”

“Kim is responsive and friendly and sweet with my babies. She did some extra travel and pickup of meds I didn’t plan for without hesitation. Having her with my kitties gave me one less thing to worry about!”

“Rico is an excellent dog sitter for our dog Snow. He is reliable, he sent us daily photos of Snow. We feel so comfortable leaving our dog in their care. Our dog feels at home with them. They have a well-maintained backyard that Snow can play and run around. Rico loves hanging out with our pet and takes extra time to show some love and cuddles. We highly recommend him.”

“Sophie took wonderful care of my pup!! She was really communicative throughout the stay and was good about sending pics. I know my dog Pippen had a wonderful time!!”

“Karla did a great job taking care of our dog, Lucky. We’ve only had Lucky for a few months, and as a rescue from Texas, he has a lot of separation anxiety. Karla was very understanding and made him feel relaxed and at home, while also being patient with all of his little foibles. She sent us lots of pictures and videos, which we really appreciated. She also has a great setup for dogs, including a large long condo with plenty of space for running around. We would definitely recommend Karla to others!”

“Joerg and Lake did such a great job taking care of our dog while we were out of town! They sent updates and photos, and kept us informed on how our dog did settling in. They also sent us some fun pics on St. Patrick’s Day which we loved 😂 We’re grateful that we found Joerg and Lake on Rover.”

“Brian did a fantastic job watching my dog, including giving medication 2x per day, and dealing with her anxiety being away from home. He was also flexible and accomodating when my travel plans unexpectedly fell through. Would definitely use Brian again in the future!”
“I booked Michelle for the holidays and I could tell my pup was so happy, lounging around her place and getting tons of play time and cuddles. When it came time for pickup, Michelle was so so understanding and flexible after flights were continuously delayed, and continued to make us feel like that Monster was welcome and cared for. Definitely recommend!”

“Susan was incredible taking care of Ernie for the week!! From home made dog treats, to play time, to wonderful updates, Ernie could not have been in better hands. Thank you Susan!!”

“Nicky was great with our Frenchie. Lots of communication and photos. Would recommend if you need someone that can care for a fussy dog that needs lots of attention!”

“Maria is such an excellent sitter ! My dog Zion loves to go to her house, and I feel so comfortable leaving him with her ! Highly recommend booking with Maria !”

“Julia was great! She always had great communication, easy to coordinate drop off and pick up and it is clear that she put care and attention into taking care of our pup! Thank you Julia!”

“Perfect home and perfect care. We received pictures/videos all the time and they provided updates on activities. They treated melon like their own dog.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Skokie
Claire took such good care of Grampa. Our guy is the sweetest peanut, but needs calm intentional attention especially in new environments due to early life trauma and (managed) separation anxiety. Claire was incredible at assuaging my concerns and helping me feel confident in trusting her. And Sushi was such a sweet little companion who Claire also clearly takes such loving care of with lots of training and support. Our guy was excited to see me when I picked him up but I’m no way was he pulling away from Claire’s home which is a huge sign for how comfortable he became in just 24 hours. Thank you thank you, Claire, for loving our buddy!

Emily and Lauren took absolutely wonderful care of Margot while we were away. Their daily updates and amazing photos gave us complete peace of mind and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. It felt like a vacation for Margot too, we think, because she had a spacious yard to run around in and enjoy, especially compared to her normal city life! Margot came home happy, healthy, and clearly very well cared for. We’re so very grateful and would absolutely trust them with her again!

Merrick and his wife have been our “go to” care givers for the past few years. Our dog has been well taken care of and feels completely at ease while in their care. They provide a warm and welcoming environment for our pet as well as regular exercise. I appreciate their many pictures and regular updates on our dogs well being. I would highly recommend their services.

This was my first time using Rover, which I was pretty nervous about since I usually have a family member watch my dog. Sandra and Sorin were very friendly sitters. They took excellent care of my dog and sent me cute photos and videos of my dog. Mikey had a great time with them. I will be recommending them again in the near future.

We had our little Dachshund boarded with Kazuhiro & Akemi and found them to be extremely responsive, responsible and easy to work with. With lots of photos daily showing walks, playing and rest time, we felt reassured that our little sausage was being well looked after. I feel very comfortable recommending them!

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
