“We absolutely loved having our Weimaraner, Hollis stay with Jacquelyn and her family! We felt so comfortable leaving her and Hollis enjoyed her time with them as well! There was never a doubt that she was safe and in excellent hands with them. We will definitely be rebooking with Jacquelyn every time we need to leave our Hollis.”

“Our dog was well taken care of while we were away. Jaden did a great job of keeping us updated on how our dog was doing. We will definitely use Jaden again!”

“Osvaldo was wonderful and kept us up to date on our pup. Daily videos and pictures of the daily walks, meals, and potty breaks. We will be using him again!”

“Jessica will be our first call the next time we need to board our dogs. She took care of them like they were her own, was very organized and responsive with communication. This was our first time using Rover, but now I can’t imagine sending our dogs back to the kennel.”

“We came to Iowa for a wedding. Cory took good care of our 2 senior dogs (labs). One has separation anxiety that he was able to comfort and the other took a nap on his bed. He walked and fed them.”

“Absolutely amazing care given to our girl. Jenevieve was excellent at communicating and sending pictures. I felt at ease that she was getting a lot of love when I couldn't give it to her.”

“Georgie had the best time staying at Alicia’s house! I really enjoyed the daily photos and seeing Georgie smiling and playing. I felt very comfortable knowing our pup was in good hands with Alicia and her family. Thank you so much for taking such great care of her!! Would highly recommend Alicia.”

“Our first time using Rover was with Casandra. We boarded our two pups for over a week with her. She was very flexible with pickup and drop off times, and she did an amazing job with sending updates and photos. I felt at ease knowing that our dogs were with someone who treated them like family. They looked so happy in every picture. I would highly recommend using Casandra for your pet watching needs!”
About: Hi! I'm Ross, I grew up having Labrador Retrievers as family pets and have always had a strong love of dogs. I like all dogs, big or small! I'm great at responding to a pets needs. I love to give them the attention and play that they want while maintaining appropriate disciple/doggie boundaries ( like not jumping up on strangers). I am good at reading dogs body language which helps to know if they are tired, playful, need to go to the bathroom, not feeling well, or just need some attention! Working from home gives me extra flexibilty to give the pups extra attention when they need it. Regardless of the setting I am able to follow the guidelines that you have set up for your pet. I look forward to getting to know your dogs!!
“Elizabeth was very responsive and asked questions to ensure it was a good fit ahead of time. During our dog’s stay she provided several daily updates with pictures and videos. She had him out playing with new dog friends in the fenced yard, and he came home a tired boy. Highly recommend! We will definitely book her again.”

“Kol stayed with them for 7 days and he had such a great time! Daily walks, lots of playtime and socialization, and I got many updates as well. He had such a great time and I wasn't worried about him for a second. 5/5 would recommend”

“I think Missy has got to be the best sitter my dog Bella has ever had. Not only did Missy welcome the challenge of a spicy chihuahua but she mastered it. By the end she let her hold her! And if any of you are owners of little anxious dogs you know this is a big deal!! Missy also did a great job communicating with us and sending tons of photos which we appreciated. Having Bella stay with Missy made us feel at ease, allowing us to enjoy our trip to the fullest knowing Bella was in good hands. Would highly recommend booking with Missy and I’m sure Bella looks forward to her next visit!”

“Emmy took wonderful care of our dog! She was attentive and made sure our energetic girl got plenty of exercise and stimulation. We received regular updates and photos, and it was apparent in the pictures that our dog felt right at home. We definitely recommend Emmy!”

Katrina and her family took such good care of Jada! She was walked and medications given as directed. They loved on her and she obviously loved this family too. Thank you for making us feel she was is a great home setting while we were gone! Marilyn and Tom Polito

This was our first time leaving our babies with a non family member/friend, and I am so happy it was with Angela and her family. 🤍 from all the pictures we were sent with updates, it was super obvious how much our puppies LOVED being there! Due to a lot of crazy circumstances, we were an extremely last minute booking request and Angela was so kind and understanding. Meeting her and seeing her warm personality made it so much less stressful for us and our puppies! We will happily book here in the future.

Gizmo had a great stay with Brooke and her family. He and one of their cats, Chester, became very good friends, which is wonderful. We know that Gizmo is not aggressive with cats, but he hasn't had much 1:1 time with cats, so we were very pleased that the two enjoyed playing! Brooke made a concerted effort to walk Gizmo on his home schedule to avoid accidents, which I greatly appreciate.

Steve and Tilaine took absolutely wonderful care of River while we were away. I am a bit nervous leaving my dog since this is our first time and first dog, but Steve and Tilaine really did a good job to put our mind at ease. It was clear that River was happy, comfortable, and engjoying their wonderful backyard. We will definitely recommend their service!

Sam watched my dog Milo for two nights. We did a meet and greet the week prior so Milo and her dog could get acquainted. Sam was flexible with drop off and pick up times and kept me updated throughout the weekend with notes and pictures. She worked through Milo's first night anxiousness and he settled in well by the next day. Milo loved the long walks and puzzles.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
