“Jessica watched Tripper for us during our most recent trip out of town. It was our first time boarding Tripper anywhere, and he had a blast. He met and played with her dog Rip and cat Ghost as well as the other dogs she watched during his 5-day stay. He came home tired and happy. She communicated and was flexible with drop-off and pick-up, and sent us updates to let us know how Tripper was doing. We would absolutely love to board with her again. We highly recommend her!”

“Cory took such great care of Bruce! He sent pictures and responded to messages quickly, and Bruce came home happy and exhausted. We are so appreciative of the great care Bruce received with Cory and will definitely come back!!”

“Kim was great with our pup, Maggie. We felt so at ease with her having fun in a great environment while we were away. She clearly knows how to handle dogs of all kinds and her family takes great care. We will definitely use and recommend Kim again!!”

“This was our first time leaving our babies with a non family member/friend, and I am so happy it was with Angela and her family. 🤍 from all the pictures we were sent with updates, it was super obvious how much our puppies LOVED being there! Due to a lot of crazy circumstances, we were an extremely last minute booking request and Angela was so kind and understanding. Meeting her and seeing her warm personality made it so much less stressful for us and our puppies! We will happily book here in the future.”

“Ashly did such a great job watching Willow! She kept me updated and sent photos and Willow had a wonderful time! She is an animal lover for sure and we will be using her again!”

“Kevin watched our pug for six nights while we were in Hawaii and kept us updated with photos and fun stories. He made us feel super comfortable, leaving our furry family member. Kevin‘s dog Ricky is a big bonus. He’s a fun little guy and Sushi loved having a friend for the week. Can’t wait to book with Kevin again in the future highly recommend.!”

“Jessica did an excellent job with little B and he came home happy and healthy. He can’t settle down without his dog bed, so we were glad we could leave it with him. We also brought his food and water bowl. Jessica was professional, competent, and caring. Five star rating, for sure! We will definitely use her again.”

“Finley seemed to have a great time with Samantha and her family. He is often sad when we leave him and doesn’t eat and apparently that wasn’t the case. I greatly appreciated the pictures.”

“Elizabeth was amazing! So communicative, smart with how she handled the dogs in her care, and incredibly loving with my pup. I will absolutely be booking with her again.”

“We went to do a meet and greet with Shea a few weeks before Maisy stayed with Sheas family. The house was well kept and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We will be making arrangements with Shea in the future for additional stays with Shea and her family. I could tell that Maisy felt very comfortable with them by how well she ate her food while staying with them. I highly recommend giving Shea the opportunity to care for you pet.”

“Morgan took amazing care of our senior dog Riley! He was so comfortable with her and she did amazing sharing pictures with us while we were away. Definitely recommend her!”

“Ivana treated Max like he was her family. He was happy feeling part of the team with her dogs. He was pampered and loved. I will definitely use Ivana again.. so satisfied with her care for Max.🥰”

“Kari is quick to respond to messages and was easy to work with. She was super about last minute time changes. She sent pictures and kept me updated on how my girl was doing. All in all a good experience and Freddie gives her a paws up!”

“It was our dogs' first time staying with someone other than family, so we were a bit nervous at first... but upon meeting, we were immediately put at ease. Our dogs had a blast and were absolutely treated with the same love and snuggles our family gives. We loved the updates, and both dogs came home ready for a long nap from lots of playtime with their new friends. We are grateful and will definitely use Mackenzie and Anthony again!! Thank you, thank you!!”

“Amazing experience. Our dog gets homesick but Alexandra was there to help him adjust while we were out of town. He LOVED the big backyard and his new dog friend. Thank you for taking such care of our dog and giving us updates along the way - you went above and beyond.”

“Niko was very well cared for while staying with Lara and Cary. We received updates with pictures daily. They were very accommodating. We would definitely use them again:)”

“Kelly was fantastic! She provided frequent updates and photos, responded quickly to messages, and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. Knowing my dog was receiving such great care allowed me to fully enjoy my vacation without worrying. I will absolutely book with her again. I highly recommend Kelly to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and communicative pet sitter.”

About: Hi, I'm Emily! I'm not just a dog lover - I've been a dog mom to just about every size and personality. Over the years I've had my own Chihuahuas, Labs, Olde English Bulldogs, American Staffordshires, and American Bullies. So I’m very comfortable with strong, energetic breeds as well as tiny lap dogs who think they run the house. I particularly love the bully breeds - no judgment, just structure, play, and lots of affection. I know how to read body language for both a nervous 4lb Chihuahua and an 80lb Lab who thinks they’re a lap dog. I’ve cared for a dog who required a strict daily medication routine, so I am meticulous about timing, dosages, and watching for side effects. Pills, liquid meds, special feeding schedules - I’ve done it all and I take it seriously. My home is calm with a structured routine. My husband and I are early to bed and early to rise. I keep a clean but dog-proofed home with a predictable routine for potty breaks, walks, play, and rest. We walk in the mornings and sometimes again in the evening if the weather allows. I only book one client at a time so your pup(s) will get plenty of attention! I promise to send lots of updates, photos, and videos so you never worry. Your pup will be treated like family here - safe, loved, allowed on the couch and in the bed and very well cared for while you're away. I have a securely fenced yard and take daily walks in my neighborhood for exercise. Inside, dogs have plenty of places to lounge, with dog beds, toys, and a quiet areas for naps. My home is non-smoking, no kids with one American Bully named Rosco. Rosco is neutered, two years old, about 80 lbs and loves other dogs. Rosco is a high energy dog who does best with dogs who are playful but also tolerant. Rosco also does great with smaller dogs and puppies. I am open to dogs over 40lbs but not more than 60lbs. I never leave dogs unattended for long without them being kenneled. I am home most of the day but utilize kennels when we’re gone for everyone’s safety. We follow a twice a day feeding schedule and I will gladly follow your instructions to the letter for feeding, crate time, and walks. I’m currently between jobs and have plenty of time for pet care. My husband works during the week and is around in the evenings and the weekends to help care for our pups. I have a fenced in yard a very friendly bulldog named Rosco to keep your pup company. I can also crate your pup if needed.
“Steve, Tilly, and family took great care of BB! Their home and yard are comfortable, with lots of room for dog relaxation and exploration. They gave BB her twice-daily medications, walks, and sent daily updates with photos. They graciously accommodated us when our return was delayed. Most of all, it is obvious how much our dog likes them, which makes us happy to leave B in their care.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
