“Kevin was incredibly responsive in scheduling a somewhat last-minute booking, shared photos of Monte throughout his stay and provided consistent updates, and treated Monte like his own. Will absolutrly be using Kevin again and would highly recommend him.”

“As a return customer I can’t tell you enough how amazing these folks are at taking care of our baby! They send pictures, videos and make sure to keep us updated all the time! I appreciate all they do and for loving our River!”

“Craig was a wonderful sitter for our energetic dog, Winston! He communicated well and was very nice He paid attentiont the details of Winston's care instructions and met all his needs. Winston was calm and happy, and Craig kept us updated over the stay. We would definitely recommend Craig and use him again!”

“Heather took amazing care of Sky for the night. Sky loved all her walks and playing with Leo and Lucy in the big back yard. Your fur babies are in good hands when they are with Heather!”

“Alicia and her family did a superb job in caring for Levi while I was out of town. He received lots of love and personal attention, played in their backyard and was taken on walks. Levi had a terrific time at Alicia's house. I would recommend Alicia to anyone.”

“Stefanie kept in contact with us by sending pictures and updates. We will definitely be using her in the future for all of our fur baby needs. We could just tell when we picked Whiskey up that he was happy and well cared for.”

“We went to do a meet and greet with Shea a few weeks before Maisy stayed with Sheas family. The house was well kept and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We will be making arrangements with Shea in the future for additional stays with Shea and her family. I could tell that Maisy felt very comfortable with them by how well she ate her food while staying with them. I highly recommend giving Shea the opportunity to care for you pet.”

“Morgan is AMAZING!!!! I was able to enjoy my trip knowing my pup was in the best care and could tell she truly cared for my dog the same way I would! He came home extra happy and in good spirits. I’m so glad I found such a reliable dog sitter - Morgan is truly the best and I look forward to using her service again!”

“Wow, that’s all I can say. We were in a tough situation as we were traveling from Texas to Minnesota and Wayne got so sick. He had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. Evan was there early in the morning to pick the dogs up, in fact, the whole family was there. They sent pictures they sent updates. .as we did not know how many days of Rover we needed. They were completely flexible with us and each day when I text and say I need one more day they were very amenable to that. They prayed for Wayne , I think they still are. My dogs were relaxed and happy, not anxious at all. I believe they got the best care I could’ve found for CoCo and PoPee.”

“Alexandra made me feel very comfortable leaving Homie with her for a week. Her house is perfectly set up for dogs and she has a massive backyard. She washed Homie’s bedding before we picked him up and his food bowls too. She provided photos every day and really kept us reassured that he was well taken care of.”

“Patricia is easily the best sitter I’ve worked with on Rover. She has great communication, been excellent at following tasks specific to our dogs needs, sends plenty of photos, and it is clear that our Boca absolutely adores her and her family. Drop off is a breeze when my dog is thrilled to be there! I highly recommend her to care for your pet!”

I am committed to taking care of your pets like they’re my own, and I’m excited to provide lots of love and fun! “Brett was great with our dog, Allie!! He sent updates, pictures, and videos! He responded very quickly and was flexible with our pick up and drop off time! Will definitely be reaching out to him again!”

“Alok was really good with Karma. He kept in contact with me about everything concerning my precious baby girl. I definitely wouldn't think twice about having Karma stay with Alok again.”

“Christy & Erkam were so great. Daily pictures and updates on how our pup was doing really gave us peace of mind and let us know she was having a great time. They took the time to understand her schedule and habits which really shows just how much they care. Wouldn't hesitate to have them watch our girl again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Des Moines
Scott did an excellent job with Archie who had never been at another person's house overnight much less for 6 weeks before. Archie loved the company, the dogs, and socialized extraordinarily well with Scott who would send a few pictures roughly weekly to show how much he loved what I called his "summer camp". Drop off and pick up is easy and Scott is really attentive to the dogs. He takes them after dropoff to a large fenced in yard on his farm in Grimes area and the dogs seem to love it and more importantly get worn out.

I think my Sam had a great time with Cynthia and family…and he was so lucky that Cynthia’s daughter was there with her little dog Reggie, so he had a playmate the whole time he was there (9days). Cynthia watered her plants outside and my Sam loves to be watered also. And with the very hot weather, he enjoyed it. Will be returning!

Abigail was a complete joy! We have never left Bella unless it's with one of our kids so this was new for us considering Bella is 10! Abigail made leaving feel safe and we knew that Bella would be well taken care of! She stayed in contact and sent great photos. We will definitely ask Abigail to stay with our little girl again!! We would highly recommend her for others.

Craig and Sally were such a blessing to our family while we were gone. Mollie is a young and energetic pup and they were able to keep her active which means she stayed out of trouble!! I think Mollie came home better trained than she was when we dropped her off! This was our first time using Rover and we are telling everyone about how great it went. We appreciated the update on how well Mollie was doing and it made our vacation that much better! What a great experience and we can’t wait to book a stay with them again.

Priscila was so accommodating with a meet-and-greet prior to watching Sam and the drop-off and pick-up times that kept changing on my end. Priscila sent several pictures of Sam enjoying his stay and these were much appreciated. The communication with Priscila was spot on and she verified the drop-off time and pick-up times the day prior to Sam’s stay. I would definitely book with Priscila again.

This was my dog’s second stay with Shelly and I have had an excellent experience both times. Shelly replies to messages promptly and provides great pictures of your dog that helps ensure that they are safe and having a great time. I would 100% recommend Shelly to look after your pet while you’re out of town!

The best experience we’ve had! We will most definitely be contacting Zoe the next time we need a sitter. She was kind, had a clean home, wasn’t over run with dogs. She’s touched base with us. Most importantly our puppers returned home happy and healthy. Our last trip he went to a kennel and he wasn’t the same dog when we picked him up, sickly, irritable, off for a full week after coming home. After his visit with Zoe he was his normal happy self.

Tanya &Jonathan are Awesome would recommend them to anyone who needs boarding for their furry companion or just a day care situation… Had mixed feelings about leave Apollo 🐶for the first time Tanya sent so many photos and updates to put us at ease .. He looked so happy playing with the other dogs I was worried he wouldn’t wanna leave …🙂🙂 Hands down 🙌🙌they were heaven sent and I’m very glad I chose them for my needs In boarding Apollo🐶 You guys rock 🤘🎸

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
