“Jessica is absolutely the best! She took care of our puppy for a week when we went on vacation. She sent multiple pictures/updates throughout the day. She spends a lot of time playing/cuddling with your dog. Jessica somehow managed to take our puppy on walks, even when it was cold and snowy. When we picked up our puppy after 7 nights, he looked super happy and well taken care of. So grateful to have Jessica to take care of our fur baby when we are away. She is the BEST!!”

“Alivia was an amazing sitter for Ares! She was incredibly attentive and made sure he had everything he needed while I was away. She sent regular updates and photos, which kept me completely in the loop and gave me peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the pets she looks after, and I could tell Ares was comfortable and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely trust Alivia to watch him again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter!”

“Jessica took care of my dog Iommi for a long weekend while I traveled out of state for my brother's wedding. It was my first time leaving Iommi and Jessica was the perfect person to leave her with. I was admittedly anxious about leaving Iommi for the first time, but as soon as I arrived the morning of drop-off Jessica made me feel 100% at ease. She took care of Iommi like she was her own and I know Iommi had a great time staying with Jessica and her family and playing with her dog Rip. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for care for their pet! I will definitely be booking with Jessica again!”

“Was our first time leaving our dog with someone else for overnight so high anxiety for us parents. Cliff was able to make our separation easier as our dog felt at home after out meet and greet. Perfect place for our dog!”

“Lisa was a wonderful host to our two senior dogs. This was our first time using Rover and the dogs had a rough start adjusting (had multiple accidents in the home). Lisa was patient and was solution focused. She tried different methods to decrease their anxiety and provided us frequent updates on how they are doing. They definitely adapted with her help! One of our dogs is diabetic and Lisa helped us administer his medication injection as well.”

“Brett was great with our dog, Allie!! He sent updates, pictures, and videos! He responded very quickly and was flexible with our pick up and drop off time! Will definitely be reaching out to him again!”

“I can't recommend Patricia enough. She did an outstanding job and gave us updates every day while we were on our vacation. It was reassuring seeing our little guy taken care of so well. He had a warm bed, house and friends all around him the whole time. We often wondered if he'd even want to come back home 😊 We will definitely use Pat to take care of our little guy on our next family vacation.”

“Shaelea is absolutely wonderful! Loki had the time of his life playing with all his new furry friends at her place. I so appreciated the frequent updates, photos, and videos she sent, it made being away much easier. I'll definitely be recommending her to all the dog parents out there. Thank you so much, Shaelea! :)”

“Hazels second visit here and she came home a happy pup just like the first time. Alyce and her family take great care of her thanks so much Alyce (special thanks to Granddaughter ❤️”

“Stefanie and her fur babies took great care of Wilbur while making him feel comfy and loved. He was calm and happy after the experience, as was I. I trust that Wilbur is in good hands with her.”

About: I grew up with dogs and now have 2 cats and 1 dog of my own. Our cats are both American Shorthair and our dog is a golden retriever! I’m currently a stay at home mom and we love watching some furry friends during our days! We can let them out multiple times, go on walks, and play. Our big fenced in backyard makes for a fun time! I have two very friendly cats who warm up quickly to other animals or hide until they feel comfortable! We also have a golden retriever who loves other animals and loves to play! I live in house with a fenced in backyard!
“Kevin was absolutely wonderful with my sweet Terry. From the very first day, he kept in constant communication, sharing updates that truly put my heart at ease. It was clear that Terry was not just cared for, but genuinely loved and treated like family during the 9 days she stayed with him. I’m so grateful to have found Kevin through Rover, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to trust him with Terry again. Highly, highly recommended!”

“We came to Iowa for a wedding. Cory took good care of our 2 senior dogs (labs). One has separation anxiety that he was able to comfort and the other took a nap on his bed. He walked and fed them.”

“So lucky we found Evan to take care of Flower, our furry daughter came back exhausted and happy, he took great care of her, and will definitely contact him again for future boarding.”

“As a return customer I can’t tell you enough how amazing these folks are at taking care of our baby! They send pictures, videos and make sure to keep us updated all the time! I appreciate all they do and for loving our River!”

“Craig and Sally were such a blessing to our family while we were gone. Mollie is a young and energetic pup and they were able to keep her active which means she stayed out of trouble!! I think Mollie came home better trained than she was when we dropped her off! This was our first time using Rover and we are telling everyone about how great it went. We appreciated the update on how well Mollie was doing and it made our vacation that much better! What a great experience and we can’t wait to book a stay with them again.”

“Elizabeth did an amazing job with Raz! I received multiple updates every day with how she was doing. I got back from vacation a day later than I expected and Elizabeth was able to keep my dog an extra night with no problem. She even ran to the pet store and got some ear cleaner for Raz when she noticed her ears were bothering her! Overall an awesome experience and you can tell Elizabeth cares a lot about these dogs. Will definitely book again!”
“Jenevieve was absolutely AMAZING! We ended up getting back late from our vacation due to some unforeseen circumstances and she was more than willing to watch our pups for a couple extra hours. I could tell they were so well taken care of while there and she helped me feel at ease leaving our pups with her. Such a sweet family and I will definitely be using her services again!”

“This was an amazing choice for us and we will absolutely reach out again if we need a dog sitter. The dogs clearly had a great time and I'm so glad Hazel was around so they had an extra pal to hangout with. Communicating was easy and we felt well updated (and we loved the photos of the doggos)”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
