“Patricia is easily the best sitter I’ve worked with on Rover. She has great communication, been excellent at following tasks specific to our dogs needs, sends plenty of photos, and it is clear that our Boca absolutely adores her and her family. Drop off is a breeze when my dog is thrilled to be there! I highly recommend her to care for your pet!”

“Alice was fabulous!! She sent photos and a video and updates as to how our pupster was doing. We felt confident that she was in very good hands. Our dog is usually anxious around other dogs but she warmed up quickly to Alice’s little frenchie and they even had some play time. We will use her again if we need this service in the future.”

“We are very happy with the care our Dachshund mix, Sophie received from Lisa and Dennis. Our girl is very timid and not friendly with strangers. They worked with her and in the short time she was with them, started to open up a bit. We will definitely try to schedule with them in the future if the need arises!”

About: I have experience owning my own dog and also taking care of relatives dog when needed. My dog is a high energy GSP with separation anxiety. I understands the need for exercise and attention. It is me and my 6 year old GSP. I understand what it takes having a high energy breed and make sure she gets taken care of on the daily with playing ball, walks, and cuddles. I can easily add one more pup into the mix during our daily routines. I do not have a fenced in yard. I live next to a park where I run my dog almost daily. If we aren't doing that, we are going on walks around the neighborhood.
“Craig was a wonderful sitter for our energetic dog, Winston! He communicated well and was very nice He paid attentiont the details of Winston's care instructions and met all his needs. Winston was calm and happy, and Craig kept us updated over the stay. We would definitely recommend Craig and use him again!”

“Wow, that’s all I can say. We were in a tough situation as we were traveling from Texas to Minnesota and Wayne got so sick. He had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. Evan was there early in the morning to pick the dogs up, in fact, the whole family was there. They sent pictures they sent updates. .as we did not know how many days of Rover we needed. They were completely flexible with us and each day when I text and say I need one more day they were very amenable to that. They prayed for Wayne , I think they still are. My dogs were relaxed and happy, not anxious at all. I believe they got the best care I could’ve found for CoCo and PoPee.”

“Kevin was incredibly responsive in scheduling a somewhat last-minute booking, shared photos of Monte throughout his stay and provided consistent updates, and treated Monte like his own. Will absolutrly be using Kevin again and would highly recommend him.”

“We came to Iowa for a wedding. Cory took good care of our 2 senior dogs (labs). One has separation anxiety that he was able to comfort and the other took a nap on his bed. He walked and fed them.”

“As a return customer I can’t tell you enough how amazing these folks are at taking care of our baby! They send pictures, videos and make sure to keep us updated all the time! I appreciate all they do and for loving our River!”

“This was our first stay with Jessica and we could not be more pleased! Our older dog settled right in at Jessica's. She did a great job of updating us and sending pictures. We were able to enjoy our time away knowing that our dog was very well cared for. We will definitely leave our dog with Jessica again.”

“Elizabeth was very responsive and asked questions to ensure it was a good fit ahead of time. During our dog’s stay she provided several daily updates with pictures and videos. She had him out playing with new dog friends in the fenced yard, and he came home a tired boy. Highly recommend! We will definitely book her again.”

“She was great with my 2 kids. They seemed so happy there. She was personable and when we had our meet and greet my dogs loved the yard and played. She sent pictures and my dogs looked so relaxed and comfortable. I will be using Laura again when I need a place to take my dogs for a night or 2. Mordechai and Sophie had a great time.”

“Casandra came to our rescue when we needed to leave town on short notice. She was so wonderful with our dog Louie and sent updates on his stay (including an adorable picture of her grandson snuggling with him). She was quick to respond and flexible with the drop-off/pick-up. Louie loved the attention that he got while staying with her.”

“Shaelea is great to work with. She has watched my dog twice now. She is very friendly and a great communicator. She accepted my fairly last-minute request, which was so helpful. I highly recommend her to others.”

“Jenevieve was more than we ever expected. She and her family treated our Suzi like one of their own. Sending pics a couple times a day made us feel so good to know we made the right decision. Suzi has found her home away from home! ❤️”

“Rachael was amazing. She responded back quickly and got a meet & greet done with. She listened to instructions and seems passionate about canine care! Definitely recommend and will continue to hire her!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
