“Sadie enjoyed her stay with Lisa so much, I'm not sure she wanted to come home! She even had her own Thanksgiving dinner. We appreciated the pictures and updates during her stay. Thanks!”

“We are so happy to have found Lara and Cary to watch our dog! Tigey was well cared for and happy when we returned from vacation. Such a relief to find wonderful people we can trust with our dog. Will absolutely book with them again.”

“Always the best! Coco and I absolutely love Alice! She is always accommodating to my schedule, has great availability, takes awesome care of my girl, and my girl adores her time with her and her dog! So lucky to have found Alice 🥰”

“Lucia was so good with our Nova. We were nervous about her not having a fenced yard, but Lucia took Nova out to the dog park with lots of potty breaks. Nova came back happy and exhausted! When Lucia brought her out when we got there, Nova was so happy and content that she didn’t realize we were there for a moment!”

“Jenevieve was absolutely AMAZING! We ended up getting back late from our vacation due to some unforeseen circumstances and she was more than willing to watch our pups for a couple extra hours. I could tell they were so well taken care of while there and she helped me feel at ease leaving our pups with her. Such a sweet family and I will definitely be using her services again!”

“First time using Samantha. She sent a bunch of pics which I loved, and Cooper was well cared for. Finally found a Rover who I can trust. Already booked her again.”
“Holly and her family are awesome. Sally and Sam really didn’t want to leave to come home. Holly kept me very up to date on what was going on with them. She sent photos also. I believe they had a great time and I will use Holly anytime we go on vacations.”

About: Hi! I'm a teacher and a lifelong animal lover with a flexible summer schedule, which means I'm home and fully available to give your pets the time, attention, and care they deserve while you are away. I've owned and cared for dogs of all sizes and personalities, from small breeds to large dogs, and I'm comfortable with a wide variety of needs and personalities. Our current fur baby family members include Mya, a 13-year-old lab/hound mix, and Mercury, a 3-year old kitty (who thinks he is a dog). Mya is a lover of all dogs, and Mercury goes with the flow when we have pups visit. I have experience with special needs dogs, including giving medication and extra support. As a teacher, I'm dependable, attentive, patient, and organized. I truly love caring for animals, making them feel safe and loved. During the summer, I'm available to pet care, walks, drop-ins, boarding, and giving lots of love to your fur baby. I have been helping a friend care for dogs through Rover, so I understand how important communication, trust, and reliability is when caring for your pet. One additional bonus - my home is full of animal lovers. I have 3 teens home this summer who absolutely love dogs and cats and enjoy helping give pets extra love, play, walks, and attention. Whether your pet needs exercise, cuddles, special care, or a calm and loving environment, I would be honored to care for them like one of my own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I’m a teacher so I’m home this summer and available. I have 3 busy teens and am volunteering at the Des Moines Playhouse a few hours a week, but am home most of the time. We have a partially fenced in yard in our planning to completely fenced in in the next couple weeks. We live on a quiet street which is a great area to go on walks.
“Kayla is wonderful! Very patient with our girls. While watching them over the weekend, she took them for walks and gave them love and attention. I can tell she did well with the girls, as they were relaxed and not nerved up from Kayla being at our home for the weekend. Thank you Kayla for taking GREAT care of our girls!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Ivana did a fabulous job, truly going above and beyond our expectations! We felt that she treated our dog like family, exactly as we would treat her. We got daily updates/videos and in every one, our dog looked like she was having the most amazing time! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”

About: I have been caring for animals since I was a little girl. In 2007 I started working in doggy daycare and then started pet sitting and dog walking. In 2019 I became a dog trainer. I work as a vet teach I am flexible with my schedule. I do house sitting on weekends. I can do some weekdays we just have to work it out. I can open to dog walks and drop ins 24/7. When I come to your place I would make sure your fur baby in comfortable and have as much fun as you would with them.
“Buster enjoyed another wonderful overnight at Meghan’s— or what we have started calling his “vacation home,” because he gets so much love and attention! Meghan is an excellent communicator, a wonderful dog-caretaker, and a top-notch photo-sender. She is our go-to, and we are incredibly grateful for her!”

“I think Missy has got to be the best sitter my dog Bella has ever had. Not only did Missy welcome the challenge of a spicy chihuahua but she mastered it. By the end she let her hold her! And if any of you are owners of little anxious dogs you know this is a big deal!! Missy also did a great job communicating with us and sending tons of photos which we appreciated. Having Bella stay with Missy made us feel at ease, allowing us to enjoy our trip to the fullest knowing Bella was in good hands. Would highly recommend booking with Missy and I’m sure Bella looks forward to her next visit!”

“Brett was great with our dog, Allie!! He sent updates, pictures, and videos! He responded very quickly and was flexible with our pick up and drop off time! Will definitely be reaching out to him again!”

“Roscoe never lacked for attention, care or pets while in Cliff’s care, We received videos, messages as to how he was doing, which really helped as we don’t leave Roscoe often. We definitely will use him again if he’s available, but we can see where he would be in popular demand!”

“Amanda was a great sitter! She was very responsive and provided daily updates. Luna got a lot of exercise and play time with Piper, who she got along very well with. The pictures that Amanda sent were hilarious! Thank you Amanda!”

“Stacy is AMAZING! She made me feel super comfortable leaving my energetic dog with her. We constantly received pictures, videos, and updates on how our dog was doing. She has a huge yard for playtime, lots of dog beds to keep them comfy inside, and you can definitely tell that she truly has a love for doggies!! Thank you, Stacy!!”

“Patricia was such an amazing sitter for our big Pyrenees mix, Rico! He was so content and happy while he was there and even seemed a little sad when I picked him up, ha! I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to leave Rico with her again in the future. He’s a big boy, 100+ pounds, so I also worry it will be a bit “much” to have him in a new space but she only had wonderful things to say and he fell into their routine easily. I appreciated the pictures and videos and general updates everyday! Patricia is amazing!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Urbandale
Rachel and her family truly made my dogs a part of their family. They always kept me up to date and sent so many pictures. Their daughter even drew me a picture that said “Thank you! I ❤️ S+S” it was so sweet! This was our second time having them watch our pups and I highly recommend them!

Kelly was fantastic! She provided frequent updates and photos, responded quickly to messages, and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. Knowing my dog was receiving such great care allowed me to fully enjoy my vacation without worrying. I will absolutely book with her again. I highly recommend Kelly to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and communicative pet sitter.

Mary was very responsive to all questions and need for our 9 1/2 year old golden retriever. Maya had a great time with Mary, and she can be a bit anxious at times when she doesn't feel loved or cared for. Maya came home happy and at ease, which speaks volumes for the care Mary provided. Highly recommend.

Mandy usually is very anxious when left anywhere but she seemed quite happy and content with Alicia and her family. Mandy also liked her dogs, Bennie and Mila, which helped keep her from being anxious. Alicia provided pictures and updates which gave us much comfort. I highly recommend this sitter and will use her again when she is available.

Amanda did a great job giving my and her dog time to get use to each other. It was a little rocky at first meet but they showed promise. She did great making sure they had the space they needed until they warmed up. By the end of our trip they were comfortable relaxing with each other and even played some tug together. Her pictures were also great and were a nice treat every morning (time zone difference) for us. A meet and greet and maybe and maybe a night to test the waters would be recommended but she does a great job managing the energy of the pack.

Morgan did such an amazing job of taking care of our pup. This was our first time using Rover and leaving her with a non-family member, so we were a bit nervous but Morgan immediately put us at ease. She was so thoughtful, caring, and attentive. Bella stayed with Morgan for a week and we were able to fully enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best hands possible being well taken care of and spoiled while we were away. We would recommend Morgan to anyone without the slightest hesitation and will absolutely trust Morgan to care for Bella during future vacations! Thank you again, Morgan!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
