“Great communication!! I was a little iffy on my drop-off time since I was coming in from out of town and Johanna was flexible. Johanna did a great job taking care of my dog. My dog got sick so we had to shorten his stay and communication during this event was excellent. I would use her again.”

“Dropped Sydney off and safe to say she felt comfortable as she trotted downstairs on her own and disappeared around the corner. Safe home and they took care of my dog. Sent updates and pics throughout her stay. I felt comfortable leaving her there and never worried about her being in their hands. Not to mention hey have a big super sweet mastiff mix of their own. I would refer their services to anyone I know. I’m sure I’ll look to use their services again n the future.”

“Second year we’ve used Jenevieve. As always very professional, courteous, and responsible. Follows through with what she says. Feel very comfortable leaving our Boston Terrier with her and her family.”

“Robbie & Family are the best sitters we’ve ever had. They go above and beyond in taking care of our Bolt. We will continue to book Robbie every chance we get!!”

“Jolene is so wonderful and patient with our rescue Kara who is quite timid and anxious. Thank you so much for making accommodations for her unique situation each time we have to go away.”

“My pups came home very tired! Sign of a good time? Not sure but they sure were quiet & slept a lot! Cristina said they did well & she would gladly take them again. The house was nice & spacious. I enjoyed the pictures, just wished there were a few more.”
“Savannah and her husband did an amazing job (and on very short notice) watching our dog while we were gone over the weekend. Not only was she prompt and attentive to my inquiries, she sent multiple pictures of our pup having a great time. He even came home behaving better! It was quite obvious that Savannah and Ben had loved up on him and taken great care of him. She and her husband were very calm, competent and caring from the moment we first met them. They have a knack for taking care of dogs and did a wonderful job attending to our older dog’s needs. They also have a great fenced backyard for plenty of play, with lots of big shady trees to rest or nap under. I would highly recommend their services and would not hesitate to choose them again if the need ever arises. Thanks again Savannah and Ben!”

“Alivia was an amazing sitter for Ares! She was incredibly attentive and made sure he had everything he needed while I was away. She sent regular updates and photos, which kept me completely in the loop and gave me peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the pets she looks after, and I could tell Ares was comfortable and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely trust Alivia to watch him again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful sitter!”

About: I have had a lot of experience with dogs over the years and am just getting started with pet sitting. My priority is providing a safe and caring home for your pup while they are in my care. I currently have a yellow lab mix who loves other dogs. I have some experience with high energy dogs, nervous dogs, giving medicines, and helping finicky dogs eat. I work full time, but have a flexible job that will allow me to let your dog out as needed. Our routine includes three walks a day so I will make sure your pup is exercised. I am home evenings to spend with your dog. Weekends are the best times for me to board and your pup will be sure to get a lovely walk or hike! I have a comfortable and dog friendly apartment and access to a fenced yard/private dog park to play in. My yellow lab will love to keep your dog company, play, or show your dog the best places to nap. I can be flexible with whatever care instructions you need.
“My GSP had a wonderful time at Jessica's place. Updated with pictures and video throughout the day. Will definitely use her again in the future if I need someone to watch again.”

“I think my dog (female) likes Osvaldo more than me know! He took good care of her for 2 1/2 days while I had to be out-of-state. My Tequila behaved herself even around his family.”

“Colleen was great and Peppa loved her! She kept in touch with pictures and video and took Peppa for rides and walks and snuggled with her when fireworks were going off for the 4th of July. She is super kind and thoughtful and also has a fenced in yard, which Peppa loved. We loved Colleen’s vibe and wish she would be our personal dog sitter. Peppa is probably thinking she wants to go back and that she had a fun vacation and a welcome break from us. 😛”

“I think Missy has got to be the best sitter my dog Bella has ever had. Not only did Missy welcome the challenge of a spicy chihuahua but she mastered it. By the end she let her hold her! And if any of you are owners of little anxious dogs you know this is a big deal!! Missy also did a great job communicating with us and sending tons of photos which we appreciated. Having Bella stay with Missy made us feel at ease, allowing us to enjoy our trip to the fullest knowing Bella was in good hands. Would highly recommend booking with Missy and I’m sure Bella looks forward to her next visit!”

“Nicole (and her family) took the best care of Margot while our family was at Disney. She communicated and organized a meet up with plenty of time in advance and made sure I was comfortable. She answered the many questions I had and it was obvious how much she loved having dogs in her home. From the minute Margot was in her care, I received pictures and videos. Her entire family loved on Margot and even with an unexpected health issue during Margot’s stay, I never doubted she was being loved. Can’t wait to have Margot stay with them again!”

“This was my first time leaving my senior rescue pups with a Rover sitter. Alexandra was patient with my dogs and the time it took them to settle in, get comfortable and bark less. Appreciated her prompt responses and communication. Her setup was great for my dogs and she has a giant fenced in backyard!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
