“We are so grateful for Rasika! She was WONDERFUL with Marley, spending so much quality time and really making her her priority, which gave us all the comfort and peace while we were away. She was also so willing to do what she could to accommodate us when we had an unexpected family event that resulted in us needing her a few days sooner. Couldn’t ask for more! ♥️”

“As always, Amanda was wonderful with our dogs. She dealt with very hot days and walked our dogs accordingly, accommodated very finicky eating habits, and even cleaned up after a late-night throw up situation. She was communicative, came for a meet-and-greet before the booking (even though she's met them before, which was greatly appreciated), and sent lovely photos. Will definitely book again!”

“Christine was wonderful! This was our first time booking her services, and I would highly recommend her. From our first meet and greet, it was clear she had a lot of experience caring for animals. She was easy to talk to, had good communication during our time away, and went out of her way to care for our dog, Jovi (who can be a bit of a handful and hard to walk sometimes!). She even went out of her way to take him to his favorite park/trail one of the evenings. The coolest thing was finding out she had cared for Jovi when he was a puppy before we adopted him (we’ve had him since he was 1 year old). His previous owner had also contacted Christine for dog sitting, and she was able to look back through her pictures and find young puppy photos of our Jovi! It was totally meant to be! 😆 I highly recommend Christine for all of your animal care needs!”

“Marsha is a regular sitter and is just great. She really connects with dogs and obviously enjoys their company. She takes long greenbelt walks with Tani-dog, tires her out playing fetch, and somehow has figured out how to trick her into giving her the ball, which is virtually impossible. She also keeps the house spotless. Thanks again, Marsha.”

About: I've been taking care of pets since I was a young child. Always having dogs and cats of my own to care for, my friends and family have always relied on me to sit their fur babies when they are away. Recently I pet sat for a litter of puppies and a momma doggie. I had to make specialty food gruel for the puppies and monitor momma to make sure she was healthy. I helped the puppies nurse and always made sure they had fresh bedding (since they poop all over). I also had to care for another male dog in the same house and make sure he was kept away from the room that the momma and puppies were in. It was such an amazing experience and I would love to do it again. I also volunteer at the Austin Animal Shelter (Austin Pets Alive), where I work in the parvovirus unit working with extremely sick puppies. I administer oral medication, clean up their poop, do daily feedings and have experinece in IV treatments. I also volunteer in the cat unit helping sick and injured cat rehabilitate giving oral and IV medication, cleaning wounds and feedings. My belated kitty, Morrisis, was a senior cat, who in his later years, became paralyzed from the waist down. I did daily physical therapy with him, built him specialized litter boxes and a set of wheels to get around with. I also had to clean his wounds and poop off of his rear end, since he no longer had control of his bladder. I administered CBD to help with pain management. There is a special place in my heart for sick animals and I give them just as much love as every animal deserves, which is all of my love. I my free time, I foster stray cats in my neighborhood, taking them to their first vet appointments, getting shots and managing any sickness they may have. I foster them myself until I can find a suitable forever home for them. My work schedule is typically 10am-3-30pm. This allows me to drop in for visits and walks before my full time job, as well as multiple times afterwards. On my days off I am more than happy to house sit, or take care of your fur babies in your house for a couple days. I will post my schedule 2 weeks in advance. When I am in my clients home, I allow supervised playtime outside and will keep your pup entertained. In the heat of Texas summers I will minimize outside play time and play with your pup more inside so they do not get over heated, unless you request otherwise. I do multi-daily walks around the neighborhood to stretch your pups legs. I keep a close inventory on any medications the animal may have and stick to the correct time for administering medication/ wound treatment. Meal time is usually on a schedule, unless you free feed, and I will always make sure there is cold fresh water available for your fur babies (cats and dogs alike). For kitties, I will engage them in playtime and try to get out their zoomies so they do not tear up furniture, unless they are sick or injured.
“Brooke was absolutely wonderful! She stayed in our home for a little over two weeks while caring for our 23-year-old cat, Chloe, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Coming home to such a happy, relaxed kitty was the greatest gift. It was obvious Chloe was loved, well cared for, and never felt neglected while we were away. Brooke also took exceptional care of our home—it was absolutely immaculate when we returned. She sent thoughtful daily updates with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind and allowed us to truly enjoy our vacation knowing everything was in great hands. Brooke is trustworthy, kind, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. We would hire her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable house and pet sitter!”

“Paula was an outstanding cat sitter for our 14 year old Lola. She spent a lot of time with her, administered her medication and gave Lola her favorite treatment - a good brushing. Lola was calm and content when we returned from three nights away. I highly recommend Paula is you need an attentive and caring cat sitter.”

“Jordan is a wonderful pet sitter! Great communication, kept us posted with lots of photos. Took great care or our house, too. But most importantly, our dogs loved him! Definitely would book again.”

“Melissa was amazing with my dog and pup! She sent regular updates and photos, and it was clear they were both happy and well cared for. I came home to relaxed, content dogs—which says it all. I especially appreciated how comfortable I felt leaving my dog with medical needs in her care while I was on vacation. Melissa was reliable, communicative, and followed all of my instructions perfectly. She went above and beyond and even took in my mail and packages. She left the house as neat and tidy as when she arrived. Would absolutely book her again! Highly recommend!”

“Mary is awesome! She's very communicative and gives our dogs the extra attention they need while we're away. She's very reliable and really came through when my travel plans home were cancelled unexpectedly and she was able to extend her stay for an extra day.”

“Jena is the best! Not only does our dog love her, she leaves the house in perfect condition, brings in all packages, and also helped by bringing in our trash cans. We highly recommend her!”

“Melissa was GREAT! She was so helpful, friendly, and always responsive. She sent us pictures of our pets while we were away. (Which helped because we missed them so much!) We came home to a happy household. She was so good, we have booked her for our next trip! Thanks Melissa!”

“Matthew was absolutely incredible and I will definitely be using him as our go to sitter moving forward. Our two dogs loved him and we dog daily updates/videos. He gave them good walks and was great with medicine for our older dog as well. We came back to a home cleaner than we left it too! Highly recommend him.”

“Willow did a great job house sitting for us and watching our 2 dogs and 2 cats, they all loved her and she performed all duties we asked + gave lots of play time and walks. We will definitely book with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Lake Hills
Amazing experience with Luke! Our dogs are pretty spoiled and we were hesitant to try Rover since we usually leave them with family. But Luke was so accommodating, even with our shy dog who takes time to warm up to new people. He was communicative throughout, sent us great photo updates, and was just the sweetest with them. Highly recommend him!

Elle is truly one of a kind! She takes incredible care of our two dogs and our home!! She goes above and beyond in every way, is incredibly detail oriented, and keeps us updated everyday with messages, photos, videos, which gives us complete peace of mind while we're away! Our dogs adore her!!! We always come home to a spotless house and happy dogs!

Sara took wonderful care of our dog, Alli, and our cat, Luna, while we were away for four days. She was reliable, communicative, and gave us complete peace of mind. She sent frequent updates and lots of pictures, which made it so much easier to enjoy our trip knowing they were doing well. When we got home, both Alli and Luna were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It’s obvious Sara genuinely loves animals and treated our pets like they were her own. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter!

Brooke was wonderful with my senior dog Lucky. She came over for a long meet and greet and got know his routine before we confirmed the booking. She was able to administers his medication and take care of all his needs during the stay so I knew Lucky was in good hands. She shared pictures during the visit where Lucky always looked happy and relaxed. So glad to know we had someone take such good care of my little man.

We had such a wonderful experience and couldn’t recommend her more highly! She took amazing care of our dogs and truly went above and beyond during her stay. We came home to happy pups and a clean home! It gave us so much peace of mind knowing everything was in such good hands. We will absolutely book with her again!!

Payton was absolutely wonderful with our dogs. She sent us so many pics, took them on many walks and they seemed so happy!!! She was extremely communicative and we would absolutely use Payton again to watch our dogs and stay with them in our house. She even left us a thank you card for our return!!!! 🩷

I cannot say enough good things about Regan. She treated our house as well as we do while she stayed for two weeks. The cats love her. She even figured out different ways to coax one of the kitties to eat more. The cats were totally unimpressed when we got home. I am not sure they missed us much. I think that says it all.

Ja was a great communicator, sent lots of pics of our dog, and left our house in excellent condition. I felt particularly bad for not setting up our house code properly when we left, which had her stuck outside our house for a half hour, but she was gracious about it and loved on our dog. Thank you Ja for helping us out, and on short notice to boot!

I would book Kristyn again in a heartbeat! She stayed overnight with my dog Rosie. She was very thorough and asked all the info she would need, and paid attention to the instructions after she arrived. She spent a lot of time with Rosie, and the house was perfectly spick and span. I was able to enjoy my time away with no concerns. Thank you, Kristyn!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Lake Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Lake Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Lake Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
