Pet care experience

Fluent in Barks and Zoomies

What sets me apart from other sitters is my personal experience with animals and the genuine care I bring to every pet I look after. I’ve spent 20 years raising and caring for pets of my own—including energetic puppies, strong-willed adult dogs, and sweet senior pets who needed a little extra help. Because of that, I understand that each animal has its own personality, routines, and needs, and I adapt my care to match. I’ve helped house-train puppies, supported older dogs with mobility issues, administered medications, and comforted anxious pets with patience and affection. I’m also attentive to changes in behavior or health, and I communicate openly with pet owners so they always feel informed and reassured. More than anything, I know how important it is to feel that your pet is in safe, loving hands. I treat every animal like my own—with kindness, attention, and respect. Whether it’s a walk, a play session, or just some quiet companionship, I’m here to help pets feel happy and at home while you’re away.

Mary Ann was great housesitting my cat, Coral. She sent daily updates with lots of pictures, and Coral seemed very happy when I got home. I would highly recommend Mary Ann!

Mary Ann is extremely dependable and demonstrates her compassion for the time spent with Dundee. I appreciate her letting me know not just the time she has spent, but also any things she has taken notice of while walking Dundee. She is amazing with Dundee.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick closely to your routine to keep your dog or cat comfortable and stress-free. I handle feedings, walks, playtime, medications, and litter box or yard clean-up with care and attention. Whether it’s energetic play or quiet companionship, I adapt to your pet’s needs while keeping your home clean and secure.

A typical day

I love tailoring activities to each pet’s personality! For dogs, that might mean neighborhood walks, fetch in the yard, or puzzle toys for mental stimulation. For cats, I offer interactive play with feather wands, laser pointers, and plenty of cozy cuddle time (if they’re into that!). I also enjoy just keeping them company—whether it’s hanging out while they nap or chatting with them during treats. The goal is always to keep them happy, engaged, and feeling loved while you’re away.

It’s important for me to know your pet’s routine, personality, and any medical needs ahead of time. I like to understand their feeding schedule, favorite activities, and any quirks—like if they’re shy, don’t like other animals, or are sensitive to loud noises. If they take medication or have any allergies, I’ll need those details too. The more I know, the better I can provide care that keeps them safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away!
