“Christine is the best! We were gone for 6 days, and she handled all of our dogs quirky and lovable obsessions. Also we had an unusual home and yard issue which she helped us with. House was just like we left it but, “a much happier place when we returned. A lot of dog loving going on. Jinx , our 16 yr old border collie told us she will miss her until the next time.”
“Ana took great care of our home and high maintenance bulldog while we were away. She communicated daily and sent pictures frequently. I would highly recommend Ana! Thank you!😊”

“Rasika was amazing to work with. I needed someone very last minute and she was very fast to respond and arrange for us to introduce her to Ekko. She has good experience working with dogs and is great at ensuring they are comfortable and relaxed. She sent very frequent updates and photos during her time with Ekko to show things are going well. Highly recommend working with her!”

“Jeff is great. Extremely reliable and compassionate with my dogs. He took great care of them. And left my house in the same condition as it was when I left. I highly recommend him. I have had a lot of problems with Rover in Austin and Jeff is one of the few sitters I feel comfortable leaving my dogs with”

“Mariah stayed in our home and dog sat our two dachshunds over the weekend. She's really genuine and reliable & honest person. She took great care of our fur babies and our home and followed all the instructions we left. I will definitely rebook with her again in the future. It's hard to find people you can count on and trust but she checked all our boxes and was great!!! I highly recommend her if you need a dog sitter!”

“Tiffany was absolutely fantastic! She cared for our 8-month-old puppy, Disco, for 7 days/nights at our home, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Tiffany's communication was top notch-she sent photos every morning and kept us updated throughout the day, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. She took wonderful care of Disco, ensuring she was happy and well-cared-for. It was clear that she also respected our home-when we returned, the house was clean, and everything was how we left it. Tiffany went above and beyond, and we will 100% be rebooking her in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Melissa was great! The dogs loved her and were perfectly taken care of. Very responsive and sent pictures and videos while we were gone to make it a little easier to be away from them. Will absolutely book again!”

“Nicole is the best, and me and Cubbie are lucky to have her to help us out. My lil man is having issues and she handled his issues with care and professionalism. Nicole's awesome and we appreciate her.”

“Ellie loved her stay with Magdalena while me and my husband were away. She sent frequent photos and texts letting us know Ellie was in great hands. Loved photos of them in the park and playing at home. She left our home exactly how we left it which we really appreciated! and was just so sweet from the beginning we knew we made a great choice in choosing her. Highly recommend!”

“We recently had Brittany stay with our new cat, Moonshine. As new cat parents, we were super concerned about leaving our baby alone for a few nights. Moonshine clearly took to Brittany immediately and I knew I didn’t have to worry about him while we were gone. Brittany kept our boy safe, happy, and cozy while we were away. We loved the pictures and video updates from Brittany as well. 10/10 recommend!”

“Alicia is amazing! I was out of the country and have never left my dogs for this long before!! She kept me at ease with great communication and lots of photos!! She went above and beyond to accommodate their needs!! Alicia has been my sitter multiple times now and I am more than happy with the outcome!! I would highly suggest her if you need proper care for your pups!! :)”

About: Leaving your pet behind is never easy, especially when they are older, need medication, or are happiest with a calm routine and a little extra attention. After spending 17 years with my own two dogs and caring for them through their senior years, I understand how important patience, consistency, and noticing the little things can be. Hi, I’m Kat. I’m a remote professional, artist, photographer, lifelong animal lover, and pet momma of 17 years who is now sharing that same care with other families. Animals have always been part of my life. I grew up in the country, where my family raised cows and we always had cats and dogs around. During my earliest years, we also had chickens and ducks, and because my dad was a science teacher, the classroom ferret even spent summer breaks at our house. Being surrounded by so many different animals taught me early on that each one has its own personality, routine, and way of communicating. Later, I became a pet mom to two very spunky Chihuahuas who were by my side for 17 years. I experienced every stage of their lives, from their energetic younger years to becoming seniors who needed extra patience and care. Along the way, I gained firsthand experience with medication schedules, mobility changes, veterinary appointments, cancer treatment, and the everyday adjustments that come with helping an aging pet stay comfortable. Now that my home is a little quieter, caring for other people’s pets feels like a natural next chapter. I know how important it is to find someone who will notice the little things, respect your pet’s routine, and care for them as the individual they are. Work-From-Home Companionship: One of the biggest advantages I offer is that I work remotely from home. Your pet will have a consistent companion for most of the day rather than someone simply stopping in and out. Some pets enjoy curling up nearby while I work. Others prefer backyard breaks, walks, playtime, or simply knowing someone is close. I am happy to follow their lead and plan the day around their usual routine. A typical day may include breakfast, a morning walk, time to relax while I work, regular potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, afternoon cuddles, dinner, and another walk or quiet time in the evening. Long-term stays are welcome. Before each booking, we can discuss your pet’s normal schedule, how much companionship they are used to, and their comfort level with alone time so I can plan around their individual needs. Boarding in My Home: I want visiting pets to feel like they are staying with family rather than in a kennel. My home has a private backyard for frequent potty breaks, safe neighborhood walking paths, and nearby dog parks for dogs who enjoy them, with your approval. I provide clean beds, blankets, and toys for visiting pets. Everything is washed and cleaned before and after each stay. Well-trained pets are welcome on the furniture and bed when that matches their normal routine at home. Keeping familiar habits in place can help them settle in and feel more comfortable. For added peace of mind, I live approximately five to eight minutes from VEG Emergency Veterinary Group and Modern Animal should veterinary care ever be needed. House Sitting in Your Home: Some pets are happiest in their own environment, and I am happy to come to them. I will carefully follow your instructions for meals, walks, medications, potty breaks, bedtime, playtime, household security, and any agreed-upon home-care needs. Because I work remotely, I can spend much of the day in your home with your pets instead of simply coming and going. I am also a devoted plant mom, so if you have indoor plants, raised beds, or a garden that needs watering while you are away, we can discuss that as part of the stay. I will treat your home with care and respect and leave the spaces I use clean and orderly. Senior and Special-Care Experience: Senior pets have a special place in my heart. I understand that older pets may need a slower pace, more frequent potty breaks, gentler walks, medication, help getting comfortable, or simply a calm person nearby. I am comfortable caring for senior dogs and cats, puppies and adult dogs, small and large breeds, pets requiring oral medication, pets with detailed feeding or care schedules, pets receiving ongoing veterinary treatment, pets with reduced mobility, shy or cautious animals, pets with separation anxiety, and multi-pet households. I pay close attention to changes in appetite, energy, mobility, bathroom habits, and behavior and will contact you promptly if I notice anything unusual. Regular Updates and Plenty of Photos: You will receive regular updates and plenty of photos throughout your pet’s stay so you can see how they are eating, resting, walking, playing, and settling in. As a photographer, I naturally enjoy capturing the expressions and little moments that show off each pet’s personality. Before We Book: When possible, prefer to arrange a meet-and-greet before accepting a new boarding or house-sitting client. This gives us time to discuss your pet’s personality, routine, health, house training, walking habits, medication needs, comfort with alone time, and emergency information. If last minute and pressed for time, FaceTime calls are welcome. Every pet is different, and I want to make sure they feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for while you are away. Whether your dog loves a lively walk, prefers a slow stroll, or simply wants a cozy place to nap nearby while I work, I will care for them with patience, attention, and respect for the routine they already know. Because I work remotely, pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I am home for most of the day and can provide regular potty breaks, walks, meals, medication, playtime, and plenty of companionship. I plan my schedule around each pet’s usual routine so their days feel familiar, comfortable, and consistent. I care for each pet according to their normal routine, comfort level, and individual needs. In my home, pets have access to a private backyard, clean beds and blankets, nearby walking paths, and plenty of supervised time with me. I keep doors and gates secure, follow all feeding and medication instructions carefully, and never take pets to a dog park without permission. When house sitting, I treat both your pet and your home with care and respect. I follow your instructions closely, maintain household security, keep the spaces I use clean, and provide regular updates so you always know how your pet is doing.
“Jordan is a wonderful pet sitter! Great communication, kept us posted with lots of photos. Took great care or our house, too. But most importantly, our dogs loved him! Definitely would book again.”

“We could not be happier with the incredible care our dog received from Marley! From start to finish, she was so responsible and communicative, keeping us updated the entire time we were away. It gave us total peace of mind knowing our dog as so well loved, safe, and happy. We also came home to a clean house which is so nice. Highly recommend Marley!”

“Cienne did a great job caring for Pepper! I was able to relax while visiting family knowing she was in good hands. Communication was great, and I would definitely use Cienne again. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!”

“Carol is the absolute best! She took such great care of our dog and cat while we were on vacation. I’m thankful to have found her and will definitely be booking again with Carol next time we travel. Highly recommend!”

Ana took great care of Kai while I was away. Kai is a German Shepard who can be quite anxious around new people but Ana was nice enough to come meet her a couple of times before I left which made her (and me) way more comfortable during her stay. She sent me tons of updates throughout the week which was very reassuring.

Lauren was amazing! She took great care of my dog and my cat while staying at my house. Lauren sent lots of adorable picture updates, and she was incredibly accommodating when our plans changed at the last minute. I highly recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a pet sitter!

Ashley is a true jewel! She cared for my pets with SO MUCH genuine love and care. I’m so grateful that we found her and will be 💯 working with her again in the future. You can rest easy knowing she’s with your beloved pets. She also kept the space clean and tidy! She was a gem in every way and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of pet care. ♥️

We are so grateful for Heather!! We have older dogs and we really needed someone who could just chill with them while we were out of town. She was so great with them, so communicative to us, and we could just tell by their demeanor when we got home that they were never stressed and that’s such a good feeling to have 🥹

Another great experience with Brittany! My cat is pretty attached to us (and we are just as attached to him!). With that said, it’s really important to know that I can trust our sitter to bring my cat comfort and fun while we’re away. Brittany is kind, trustworthy, reassuring, and flexible. Knowing that Brittany is there with our baby makes it a little easier to be apart. We truly appreciate her!!

We feel so lucky to have found Bailey on rover! Took incredible care of our boy and the most updates and photos we have ever gotten with a sitter, which made us feel so reassured as pet parents he was having a good time and was so loved while we were away. Would book again in a heartbeat!

Annie was fantastic with my dog! She took great care of him and kept me updated throughout the stay with regular messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She was a great communicator, reliable, and it was clear she genuinely cared about him. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Annie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog sitter!

Mariah has been one of the best Rover sitters I’ve used. I booked her far in advance for a recent family trip. Not only did she swing by for a meet and greet, but also offered to come by a second time leading up to the trip to go over things. She was extremely thorough and communicative while we were away. I received lots of pictures. It felt less of a business transaction and more like someone who actually cares and takes a lot of pride in their work. Would definitely book again.
Ludo is hands down the best pet sitter I’ve ever used. My two dogs absolutely adore him, and that’s the highest compliment I can give. They’re genuinely excited every time he comes over, which gives me complete peace of mind when I’m away. Ludo is reliable, communicative, and clearly has a natural connection with animals. I never have to worry because I know my dogs are not only well cared for, but they’re also happy and loved while I’m gone. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pets like they’re his own, I can’t recommend Ludo highly enough. He’s truly exceptional, and I feel incredibly lucky to have found him.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sunset Valley on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sunset Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sunset Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunset Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
