“Kirby did an absolutely sensational job with our three dogs during me and my husband's wedding weekend! She showed up for two meet and greets before the weekend, and we knew our pups were going to be in great hands. Kirby was especially attentive to the needs of our Weimaraner, who has very bad separation anxiety. She sent thorough updates at the end of each day with lots of photos, and she took great care of our house. We will DEFINITELY continue to work with Kirby moving forward. 10/10 recommend to other dog owners looking for reliable in-house sitting.”

About: I've taken care of my own dogs since they were puppies up to their now senior age of 10, so I know how to care for dogs across all ages. But not only my own. I've helped care for people with senior dogs, volunteered at pet shelters, and generally tried to make the lives of as many pets as I can happier! I love pets (especially dogs), so the more time I can spend with our four-legged friends, the better! The only thing preventing me from spending time with other people's pets is taking care of my own two dogs :) In your house, I would care for your dog as if it were my own! My dogs can sometimes be a bit rowdy, so I don't often have other dogs stay at my place for long periods of time.
“Brianna was comminicative and thoughtful in her care of my senior dog. He was happy and well cared for when I returned and we will definitely consider booking with Brianna again.”

“Cienne took great care of my pups! She stayed at my home and sent lots of updates which I love. My girls looked very happy and comfortable. Will definitely have her over again!”

“Monica was absolutely perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better person to look after Sidney while I was in a last-minute business meeting that took the entire day. She walked him and ensured he was well cared for during the day.”

“Ashleigh is amazing! She was great at giving updates and being accommodating for my elder dogs and their various needs. I could tell all my pets 2 dogs and 3 cats felt extremely comfortable from day 1 and I'm definitely going to rebook with her next time I need my pets taken care of!”

“Gihan watched our baby for the first time and was wonderful with him. Very patient with his fussy quirks and really taking the time to get to know him better. We appreciated her sending updates and plenty of photos to keep us posted on how things were coming along throughout the day. We already have her booked again for our next time away!”

“Dina took great care of both my dog and my house while I was away! My dog Penny takes a while to warm up to new people but she seemed very happy with Dina.”

“Clair is the best! She listened to all of the detailed instructions I have for my senior cat, there are a lot! She did an excelllent job giving her her medicine and communicating with me - sent lots of pics and commms and I really appreciate that. I could feel that my Panther cat was really loved and cared for. Thank you Clair. She also took excellent care of our home.”

“Our little Tasmanian devil had an absolute blast with Derek! Having him home sit was the best decision, house was clean, dog was happy, great communication while we were gone, need I go on? 10/10 already recommending to friends”

“Alex did an outstanding job and kept my mind at ease while I was traveling out of the country. Every picture I saw from her my dogs had a huge smile and looked tired from all the fetch. Thanks again Alex!”
“We’ve had Crystal house sit with our goldendoodle twice and she’s been just a great help! We’ve gone on two long weekend trips and have come back to a clean house and a happy cared for pup. She sends pictures and updates, and follows any requests I’ve made. I highly recommend her! :)”

“Elina was fantastic. On short notice over the holidays, she coordinated picking up our dogs from a boarding facility, brought them home, and also house-sat. It was clear the dogs were extremely well cared for. They went on plenty of walks and were happy and relaxed. The house was left in perfect condition. Highly recommend.”

suzette went above and beyond our expectations for our babies! she was able to get us in last minute before our trip and we are so grateful we found her. she sent pictures of our pets often, took careful consideration of their unique needs, and even trimmed our dog’s nails for him. on top of that, we came back to our place being cleaner than we left it! i highly recommend booking suzette to take care of your pets.

Jordan was so professional, prompt, and had wonderful communication skills. He sent pictures daily, followed directions exactly, and had our boy snuggling with him very quickly. I felt very secure having Jordan in our home while we were away and immediately booked him for a second time.

Hailey was absolutely amazing with my two dogs, Spaceship and Orbit! She took care of them for three days and went above and beyond. Spaceship is usually nervous around new people, but she warmed up to Hailey right away thanks to her calm, gentle demeanor. Orbit is a total wild child, and Hailey handled her energy with no problem at all. She sent regular photos and updates, and even noticed a small nervous habit that one of the dogs has — which really showed how attentive she is. Zero hassle, completely professional, and just a genuinely great person to trust with your pets. I’ll definitely be booking her again, especially if you’ve got some picky pups like mine!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Colton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Colton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Colton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
