“I’m so grateful for the amazing care Garrett provided for my cat, Adele. He was attentive, responsible, and kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Adel was clearly very well taken care of and comfortable, and I could tell she received a lot of attention and care. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“If you use Nate understand that your pets may not be as excited that you came home because they have had such a good time with him! Nate is a good communicator. He provides updates but also just special notes about engaging with each pet (we have 3 cats and 1 dog), which is really nice. In addition to treating the pets well, he also did so with our home. Thanks, Nate!”

“Kristena was excellent! We left her with 2 cats, an older dog and a puppy. She sent us detailed updates every day with pictures and even did some training with our puppy while we were away. She also took great care of our home and left it in spotless condition, cleaning up after herself and the animals. We would love to have her back any time!”

“Franklin was amazing, my older dog is a "little" shy to say the least and Mr. Franklin was absolutely positively wonderful with him, got him to come out to play, to eat as well as just getting him out of his kennel. As normally he would just be sad and hide the entire time we are gone. Definitely will hope he is available for the next sitting position. Thank you Franklin!! 😇💙🙏🐶🎉🤝”

“Jessica was a gem! She was so attentive and responsive to my cats and kept in consistent communication with me while I was away. I highly recommend her and look forward to working with her again!”

“As always, Mattea took such great care of our pets and home and gave frequent updates/pictures. Having someone so wonderful house sitting takes away the stress of leaving our fur babies at home when we are gone on trips.”

“Jylesha is Fantastic with my animals! She loves them, walks my dog, keeps my place so nice and is very responsive communicating and sending pics and vids. My animals love her! Ty Jylesha! ❤️”

“Harmony was an absolute lifesaver! She stepped in at the last minute after our original sitter canceled unexpectedly. From the start, she was sweet, attentive, and communicative. She took wonderful care of both our apartment and our pets, and we came home to happy animals and a spotless space. We did have a small misunderstanding—which was totally my fault 🤦🏽♀️—but Harmony handled it with grace and professionalism. I truly hope she’s open to sitting for us again in the future. Highly recommend her!”

“Kira took amazing care of our 2 dogs :) You could tell they were both very well loved and taken care of while we were gone. She also left our house super tidy. We'd definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a great dog sitter! Thanks again Kira for taking care of our pups <3”

“Layla was phenomenal. She is so thoughtful and thorough when it came to taking care of my two dogs. She was kind, curious about their schedule, and incredibly considerate of my home. Thanks Layla!”

“My puppy & cat had a great time hanging out with Emma for the night! I was nervous leaving my puppy for the first time but Emma sent me updates and photos to help calm my nerves!”

“Joan was especially attentive to our dog Ember post-op. Ember required hot and cold compression on her leg which Joan kindly administered for us. Ember also had to wear a cone which she did not like. By her own initiative, Joan slept on the couch so she could keep Ember company since Ember couldn’t navigate the stairs with the cone as she recovered. We would never ask Joan to do that- this is just the level of care and comfort she shows our dogs. We appreciate Joan so much!”
“Autumn is the best! She cared for my furbabies so well, sent me updates every day, communicated with me about a couple issues that arose, and problem-solved. And she left my house exactly as she found it. She will be our sitter every time from here on out!”

“We cannot say enough amazing things about Kyla! She recently pet sat for our dog, Bernadette, and she was hands-down one of the nicest, most genuine people we have ever met. From the very beginning, it was clear how much she truly cares about animals. She went above and beyond to make sure Bernadette was happy, comfortable, and well-loved. Kyla kept us completely at ease by sending regular updates and the sweetest pictures, which we absolutely looked forward to receiving. Her communication was flawless, her energy was incredibly warm, and she gave us total peace of mind while we were away. If you are looking for someone who will treat your pet like their own family, Kyla is the one. We will absolutely be booking her again. Thank you, Kyla!”

“Loren took amazing care of my two cats while I was away. She followed their care instructions thoroughly and she truly allowed me to enjoy my vacation without worrying if the cats were well taken care of. I really appreciated her communication and truly loved all of the picture updates she sent me each day. Loren was overall wonderful and I would 100% request her help in the future.”

“Sophina stayed with my 3 dogs and everything went well. She also left the house very clean and orderly. If you like daily updates and getting photo verification, I would make sure she understands that. She was very responses when I reached out, though. I would not hesitate to use her again.”

“Beverly was incredible! She showed up promptly and started caring for and playing with our 2 dogs and 3 cats immediately. She sent lots of updates and pictures the entire time and left our home cleaner than she found it! 10/10 recommend.”

About: I have taken care of horses, dogs, cats, cows, and more since I was about 5 years old. I have raised kittens from bottle feeding to taking care of sickly/elderly dogs/cats. I am very comfortable and confident in my pet care. I work from home full-time and am in full-time online masters program. I am able to provide your pet with ample attention, compassion, and care. I prefer to take care of pets in the clients home as my roommate has another dog. I am very clean, organized, and respectful to your home and love taking care of plants as well!
“Kaelin did a wonderful job taking care of our house and two dogs for six days while we were out of town. She sent pictures daily and seemed to really enjoy her time with the dogs. I recommend her services wholeheartedly!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Raleigh
Autumn was a wonderful sitter for our two dogs. She worked wonders keeping both of them happy and well cared for, which is no small feat since one is spunky (likes long walks and playtime) and the other is older (needs very frequent outings, but no long walks). She was great at sending us regular updates and adorable pictures of both girls, she kept the house clean and she even went above and beyond by offering nail trims for both. We would definitely ask Autumn to dog sit again if we need help!

Anna goes far above expectation in her senior dog care giving. My 14 year old was suffering extra anxiety and wouldn’t go upstairs to her regular bed. Anna arranged to sleep near my dog by sleeping right next to her and calming her until she fell asleep. She walked, petted and fed according to special instructions. Anna also keeps the home in extra good order and stays in touch with reports. Anna is an exceptional dog care giver for overnights and I look forward to hiring her again soon.

Yanke was so great with my pup cooper! So glad I found her. She is definitely someone you can trust for house sitting. We were traveling internationally for a week and Yanke kept us updated throughout the whole trip with pictures so that I could keep my mind at ease and enjoy my vacay! I’ll definitely be using Yanke again for house sitting and highly reccomend to anyone :) thanks for all you do!

Summer was fantastic. I was so comfortable leaving both my young, energetic dog and my senior dog with health issues with them. I got regular updates and pictures. Summer left the house in great condition, even tending to my orchids in a way I never could! I would 100% recommend Summer for your pet sitting needs. Summer would be my first choice for a dog & house sitter.

I am so glad Sofia was available to take care of Kimchi while I was out of town for the weekend! She was great with sending pictures and keeping me updated. As soon as we met Sofia, Kimchi took a liking to her. Sofia had great communication with me during her stay and left my home in great shape. I would recommend her services and will be sure to book her again in the future!

Madison was amazing! She took great care of my two Golden Retrievers while I was out of town. It's always hard leaving my fur babies, but I had complete peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. She sent pictures and kept me updated throughout my trip, which I really appreciated. I will definitely be booking with Madison again for my next trip!

Caroline was an absolute sweetheart! She took amazing care of our dogs and our home while we were away. She was very communicative throughout the entire stay, keeping us updated and giving us peace of mind. We came home to happy dogs and a well-cared-for house. We truly appreciated her kindness, reliability, and attention to detail. We would happily book with Caroline again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Raleigh on Rover is $40.66 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,043 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Raleigh. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Raleigh walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Raleigh maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Raleigh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Raleigh. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
